Everyone seemed to be affected by the events of the day. Sarah had helped Jane with her makeup for the black tie Bat Mitzvah party and so decided to make a fashion statement hereself. Benjamin was worn out from the day and Jane was on the couch waiting for picture time which began with this closeup of her face. We went outside for the picture with shawl on facial closeups (for makeup) and ceremonial pictures under the basketball hoop. All of this activity caused Sarah to highlight her outfit including her belt her shirt and all of her. Next we took a few more pictures of Jane without her shawl followed by this artistically dizzying picture and a picture of Sarah's window to show who the photographer was. It was time to back out the car (notice the exhaust) with Jane and Suzanne aboard to say good bye to the house and leave their parking place empty as they headed off to the Bat Mitzvah. around the basketball hoop; he just wanted to look for horse hair in our furniture. Benjamin saw the snow and decided it had to be cleared away, so we started to work

from ever increasing distances. I hear that the histogram didn't last through the night but choose not to believe such sad tales. This was the day we had planned to spend in the city, so Ben and Jane had good breakfasts

and Benjamin and me

was ignored by Benjamin as he finished his game in front of the store

to decide that picture taking was ok as they holidayed from Argentina. Ben did his tongue out and weird face poses

and Ben to look good for the camera. The beer

before Ben and I headed out to PJ's where the menu was as always

and Ben's burger looked as good as my buttermilks

came to visit and chat though Ben thought there was too much chatting

for Ben and once fueled up, he went back to his playing and didn't seem to mind the conversation

and to the amazement of Ben cleaning of her car

to scout us out to see if we were the right place on which to bestow fame and glory by having NFL Films film a public service announcement about reading in our house. Even the governor was going to be there. But, alas, we did not measure up (or our house didn't) and so he left us in peace. Meanwhile Suzanne finished Ben's hat and so we all took turns trying it on. Suzanne's treatments were over and it was time for a celebratory trip. So we got into the limo

Ben finished most of his food and Jane and Fred

withe the phone and Benjamin did his puppy dog imitation. Once we reached the ball, we recorded Peter and Seva

out of the window of my study, I understood why. So, Benjamin and Nathaniel worked at cleaned the car as Suzanne put a few more stitches in her knitting

where Ben and Nathaniel

Ben and Suzanne along for the ride which made me happy to have my boots

at the ready. Nathaniel decided he had to tackle Ben a few times and at the wedge, Jane and Suzanne crossed

and Ben waited with me on the other side. Nassau Street was clear

where Ben and Nathaniel sat across from Suzanne

Ben's grilled cheese and my pancakes (buttermilk, of course)

all in the name of celebrating a beautiful day of much snow and no school. This has been a winter with a lot of snow. So, Benjamin has been able to finally use the sleds that have been hanging around our yard for the past years without being used. He gathered the red one and I took the blue

including one that wasn't. Ben had his drink and Fred

didn't mind that I ate most of her french fries but Ben still did his incognito routine when I needed an extra picture. Then, it was back to sledding. Here are Jane and Benjamin working their way up the hill so that Ben could think about his next run as Jane watched

but was seriously incognito. That evening, Ben was amused as the seeds were gathered

and Amy and brother, Ben, posed on the couch before Sarah and Amy

promised that he would win in Utah while Ben watched Justin and Ned get the chess game to this situation

Benjamin was playing chess and Suzanne was getting ready

Michele had given me but this did not rouse Benjamin from the couch when it was time for us to leave. The table at Acacia

who worked Ben into this position before Ben tricked him into a stalemate. Peter then took pictures of me Ben and Suzanne

and Ben decided to get his shoes on

and Benjamin before taking artistic ketchup bottle pictures

being taken. Benjamin and Suzanne

so Benjamin got ready to dig in as did Suzanne

from Olive's. Ben ground stones for Jane who wore the birthday hat and a scarf from yesterday

so Benjamin and Sarah

dug in and then Benjamin considered the fruit and veggies

that caused Benjamin to perform acrobatics with his bread. This card

who showed up to watch Benjamin try and gather the last few things off the floor as Suzanne

Ben's chocolate milk and Jane's Orangina

of us. At Thomas Sweet's, Ben pondered his ice cream and then took a bite

as we headed off to Ben's basketball game against the girl's team. Sarah had gotten home from spring break in Georgia, the weather was nice, everyone was in a good mood, so Suzanne went on a shopping and cooking spree. She made this salad

ate the bread as they finalized the plans for the evening. Ben brought his basketball to the meal. Suzanne

and Ben took notice as Judy

came and then Ben's turkey burger Jane's burger platter

which caused Benjamin to move out of the frame to get the ball from Dr Len

sold Ben a hat. But before we could try the hat, Dr Len appeared with a water ice from Rita's

and Benjamin waited while they

while Jane and Benjamin finished their water ices and we continued on past the store with the Sponge Bob T shirts

before recording Ben's work sheet for the night. A few days later, Ben hid behind his book and then posed

as Ben showed how a newly turned 9 year old reads a book. That morning, I taught Jane's geometry class

when Benjamin had his moment of exuberance and Ed and Sarah

would quite pose for a picture even as Ben showed his balloon and the faces started

as Kurren and Ben played chess and then moved to the dinner table

for me. As Ben did the hot dog commercial I posed the pizza

amused Ben and Gilead and Omri

or Benjamin as much as money

carried the food and Benjamin made his way past Brian Blount

appeared. Before we knew it, the 3rd graders came in and the concert began with Ben on the end of the row and here chatting with his neighbor

and Ben watched Audrey Straus and Suzanne

and Benjamin hid until we drove to the shopping center via Holder 51. Once there, we ran into Edward Wladas

as Ben had the pasta Suzanne had an omelette

amused Ben as we got the fish

though Benjamin was trying to find his way around their house. The spread for lunch brought Benjamin back to life as did the cookies

had everything on it which cause Benjamin to slowly

also in 2 views. By Wednesday, the Continental theme had gotten to Benjamin who was dressed for school and carrying his pocket watch

a major anachronism. Suzanne stopped by Johnson Park and saw Benjamin and Bobby playing jacks as the crowd gathered

and Benjamin looked the part of a continental merchant. After a few final images

though Benjamin preferred to hide and then only appear

while we waited for Ben's quesadilla Sarah's (and David's and Jane's) enchilladas

to Benjamin's amusement as Jane

Benjamin and Suzanne

After lunch, we did errands at the shopping center getting Yu-Gi-Oh cards for Ben and change back in our pockets

As Benjamin posed with the cards Sarah began her search for the Nalgene

Benjamin studied the trading cards and David bought this flag

and inspired Ben and me to explore further returning in time for the duet

and Benjamin made headway towards the clean plate club

to the delight of Benjamin. After dinner, we went back outside to release the remaining balloons and try to find them

as Benjamin and the girls

enjoyed the sun as Ben and Suzanne read and we all felt a little less heat than in Princeton. After a walk, it was time to take to the Boardwalk

After lunch we hit the beach and Benjamin, Jane and Kaylen got themselves mighty wet Our final trip to the Boardwalk got Kaylen this stuffed dog

and Benjamin green and we headed back to Big Fish where we ran into Miguel Centano and wife

Ben and Suzanne (eyes closed)

Ben had lemonade and Suzanne had a gin and tonic

Ben his pizza Sarah her chicken quesadillas

as Benjamin read and we tried to catch a glimpse of the kitchen

while also seeing if Benjamin could pose for a picture that was not too bright or too dour

was fabulous but the bag holding Benjamin's canoli didn't open for a while and when it did

before Ben and Suzanne headed for the pool and Benjamin described the experience for all to hear. En route to dinner, we found the campus

for posterity and Benjamin had too much light on him but Jane's salad

were good accompaniments to Benjamin's noodles and rice that were probably the best parts of the meal for anyone. The next morning, we got into the car

where Jane and Ben waited while I captured this picture

much to Benjamin's amusement. After a short linner in town where the hot dogs

and Ben's burger and my veggie burger

kept us going, we dropped Jane off and hit the road making good time back to New Jersey where we stopped at Bennigan's for dinner. The men's room had this collection sign

was world class bad and Benjamin's salad seemed to keep him going until we got home. It was my last day in computer science as chair. How pleasant to get to see Doug Gage ride his Segway

for a module. On the way back to reality, we ran into Ben Kaplan and Carol Mason

who seemed more grounded. It was the summer and looked like it would be a beautiful weekend, so we decided to venture into the city and maybe see a play on Saturday. We began on Friday night by taking a few pictures of Ben using the waterproof case for the digital camera to see if there was a difference. He seemed unable to keep his eyes opened without some external help

and Ben pondered the journey ahead. Once in New York, we escaped the train

and Benjamin as the Tkts booth

from the Afghani restaurant. Benjamin studied the fan and then used it

where Ben got very focused and so we could get our tickets, take a final obligatory phone booth picture

we went in but the darkness made Ben hard to see though the menu

picture and checked back to see if Ben was brighter. The bread came

along with Ben's burger Suzanne's chicken salad with

which shone brighter than the picture can tell. Ben brightened with his food and this collection sign

that might work. But first we had to measure Ben's foot size before we could pick these shoes

Ben's turkey sandwich and Suzanne's soft serve

which made Benjamin very excited on the train ride home. In all, another happy family day in the Big Apple. It was to be the event of our lives -- dinner at the Philadelphia Cricket Club. We had ascended the staircase of life and Martha had agreed to come along. What better way to start than to have poached eggs

at Small World. It seemed to make Benjamin very happy. We knew things were ok at home when we noticed that Sarah and Lily had decided to try to kill the television

could retrieve Ben and we could begin our journey by heading towards the GWB

seemed worn out and Benjamin seemed to be in outer space even as Suzanne

as Ben and Kaylen

as Benjamin explored the kitchen while we celebrated our joy at being guest of the day. The next morning, Benjamin was up even as Kaylen

Ben and Suzanne

studied the menu as Ben and Suzanne chatted with Mary

and Ben's mac and chack and the girl's wraps

as Benjamin, Lauren and Suzanne did the hoops thing before the women returned

for a final picture as Benjamin was bored with the whole thing and another round of pictures

picture which didn't exactly work. As we passed through Bennington, the girls went in here as I got gas

with Ben Jane

who are the vice provosts who look after the university's money. Friday morning, Ben made this face before heading off to camp maybe because he knew about the sleeping 15 year olds

in the heat and humidity. Afterwards, we found Ben and Nate on the lawn wrestling

and Ben lifted his head

who were eventually joined by Ben looking down then up

and Ben, Nate and Daniel Sturm posed for a few before starting their dance

until we could find Benjamin;s as Nate showed off his sculpture

and Ben and Suzanne settled in much to the amusement of this gentleman

and then Benjamin joined while Janet

(sans Janet). Later, Suzanne and Ben gathered by water's edge so that Benjamin could bring back this seaweed and pose

didn't do much for Ben though the other dishes

and Benjamin as Eliezar

and Ben and David

to emerge. Once in the car, Benjamin dyed his tongue and then nibbled on Jane's toes

that complemented Ben's plate and mine

as Benjamin Norma

and Benjamin were taken before Jane decided to go into black and white mode and record a flower

Ben Sarah

around the table. Around noon, I extracted Ben and Sam from their game and we drove past the Warhol

which Ben filled as did I

and got Ben and then all of us

that kept Ben Suzanne

and Ben's turkey hoagie and Sarah's selection from the salad bar

as Ben and Gilad and Omri had a card playing pajama party.. Labor Day, Suzanne and Sarah

and getting Ben to turn off the tv

was ready as Ben started down the driveway and they made their way

at the bus stop. Ben seemed happy

and aren't happy with how things work. Back at home, Suzanne and Ben were reading in the hammock.

were in her room and Ben was on the second floor as the apple bags

and Ben enjoyed the animals

wished us well as Ben got the ball and we went to collect Ross

for the race. Ben and Suzanne

went by and ignored us. Amv tried to pose with Ben but we couldn't get a close picture until Sarah joined

ate incognito and Ben and several Klockenbrinks

spotted Ben's class (he's the ketchup bottle in the back) and the parade

and then we got Ben on camera as his class

and Ben reappeared as did Doris Shea

and Ben amused Wei King

brought forth the food and drink. Later that day, Ben and I

while Benjamin created this leaf concoction for her to bring along. They did the brother and sister poses with choking

to see if the second picture was better. This done, on Thursday, the first true teacher shopping day, Ben and I took the car to stop 37

and Ben checked out the grapes

before suggesting that we check out the local playground. Once there Ben went up the ramp down the corkscrew

of the liquids as Ben installed the new bell int he collection and we sat down to soup

and Ben's survey led to conversation with Dan

before he completed it. The next morning, as Ben enjoyed his breakfast I took this artistic pear picture

at SeaWorld where Ben studied the schedule and we headed first to the Pets Rule show

which raised Ben's appetite for a ChipWich (aka cookies and cream on the left coast). The final event was the Shamu show. There was a buildup

for me so that we could go home to dinner. Ben was ready as my quiche

came to life. On Saturday, we drove out to Rancho Bernardo where Ben and Sylvia were joined by Rob

Janet had brought. So our table was Ben Sylvia

finishing the group. Ben had the cheeseburger Sylvia had the salad,

where there were no pickets and then Ben settled in to play his new game as Dan

and Ben and I seemed even happier though I didn't do a good job of keeping my eyes opened

Left to Right: Leonard Barkan (Comparative Literature and Humanities Council), Froma Zeitlin (Classics, Comparative Literature, and Judaic Studies), Paul Muldoon (Humanities Council), James Stone (Astrophysics and PACM), Joshua Katz (Classics), Wolfgang Pesendorfer (Economics) and Daniel Sigman (Geosciences) It was a beautiful day. Perhaps the last pretty weekend of the year before winter comes. Ben and Joel and Eddie gathered in the back yard After tolerating a few pictures, they returned to their focus

Ben Sally (up close)

Ben Andy

and Ben's and a picture with Jane

as Ben emerged and Andy made coffee

Ben's sisters convinced him that it was time to bring Red Teddy

of the German Department about the possibility that his retirement would be his gift to me. This set the stage for the celebration. Ben was excited to get not one not two

and Ben took his video games to the other room as the hannukah candle holder

and Ben's playing a PS2 game made it an official Havurah. Seva

and then went home to settle into a quiet break from all things academic. It was the day before Christmas and my new memory came Ben was on the floor As Jane played a game

Ben got cool as Joel's dad came To take them to bowl

But Benjamin was there by the tv to sit

as Suzanne and Ben played the globe game. Sarah had an orange

before Ben announced that we had to drive off to get parking

and then Ben got the food so that we could come home to some kitchen mess

resulted. At this point, the Jans arrived for dinner bearing this gift for Ben and this gift

seemed to pose better with it. The gift certificate for Ben and this package

and Ben chose this even as the chocolate cake

Ben relaxed and the movie ended

at the other. Ben and Suzanne

emerged along with Ben's Oh Yuck book. Sarah got a shirt

to Ben's amusement and Sarah worked on her camera

got their camera together as Ben played dreidel. The cameras

and Ben watched as the computer games continued

began. Before going to sleep, Ben recorded his socks on the floor and in his bed.

Halloween scene. This inspired Ben to take pictures of the videos and a blank one

first Ben and Jane then Sarah and David

of Africa before Ben joined the jungle and we saw the mummy

one better than the other and a picture of David and Ben until the salad

where Ben made his weird face as we found our way to the table

as Ben and Lenny and Judy

came with Ben's turkey burger and my garden burger

was given a rest, lest Benjamin's M&M's steal its color which would have amused

Ben, no doubt. As the pears were being cooked an egg dropped

were waiting for the ball to drop as Ben was less interested because it was a commercial

and even Ben and Suzanne

Ben had his noise maker and I got the first picture of Suzanne

as Ben walked into the scene and the teenagers

to get the New Year's picture of the GittlePeople. A few days later, Ben and I decided to say good bye to Suzanne and Pam and drive South stopping at the Club Diner

where Ben enjoyed the jukebox

and Philadelphia across the way. Ben looked through the binoculars and saw this

before Ben took a ride to the houses of the three little pigs

for whom the bridge is named. Ben took these pictures of me at the blank houses and this extra one

noted that Ben had lost a tooth even though our breakfast was too soft to loosen a tooth. This lizard

got Ben going and the milk

came to pick up Lulu. Later in the day, Ben moved into the camera

and Ben took these pictures of us as we took one last look at Jane's exam

tried to sort out the hidden meaning in the play we had just seen. Sunday morning was my real birthday. A fairly unique experience. Ben decided to record me opening gifts. I started with the clock that came out of its box

Ben's card Dansyl's card

which meant that it was time for Ben and Sarah

before Joel and Ben did a few tries at their twin brother act. Meanwhile, the table was set

and Ben also studied the chocolate

as Ben removed the struts and seemed to suffer

and begin to open the gifts starting with Ben's sea horse Grandma's gift certificate

and Ben did imitations of a monster of a convict

while Ben brought out his library book which took better

were cozy on the couch. We checked out the works for Ben's electricity project and then as I admired my pizza (jalapenos, pineapple and olives)

Ben was watching television

made a weird face. Ben and I decided to take a picture of my drink and then his -- back

while Ben moved quickly to catch up with Suzanne

Ben had this sandwich and I dreamed of life in good old Italia

but we still made our way to Ben's class where he showed his project which Audrey

so admiration for Ben as meeting leader. We walked past Alan

to video tape the whole event. After capturing Ben in all his glory, I spoke to Mike Snyder

with Sankaran Sundaresan ( Cehmical Engineering), Karen Bennett (Philosophy) and Daniel Heller-Roazen (Comparative Literature) seated and Ben Ellman (East Asian Studies and History), Bonnie Bassler (Molecular Biology), Sanjeev Kulkarni (Electrical Engineering) and Alan Blinder (Economics) standing. It was set to be quite a weekend. We remember the last wedding in Baltimore that involved the same people and many previous celebrations of Ben's birthday including and 2000 with the sad observation that in 2002 my camera was broken and there was a shortage of new digital cameras. But, it was clearly time for a celebration or 2, so we got ready to roll. So we packed the trunk Suzanne and Sarah did their ritual handshake

so that Ben would feel nourished as we drove on

were excellent even as Benjamin got his monopoly game and assembled it

before deciding that Benjamin could take a better picture of me before turning to his toes

in the game that mattered. Jane appeared and posed with Ben and then with Suzanne

before Ben ducked out of the picture and headed for the window

and then a few of the children with Ben looking bored then dorky

as Suzanne, Jane and Ben sat as DanSyl

did the sister thing while Ben watched until Suzanne joined

watched as Ben and Sarah led us past Andy, our host,

as Sarah and Ben saw if the three children

and Ben decided to see if Larry could amuse him before the sorbet came

and Ben did variations on his sleeping on the table which brought Barbara over

posed as did Ben, Suzanne and Jane and Fran, Dick and Janet

while Ben played and Suzanne

did nothing to amuse Ben though Pat

on the birthday cake and Ben stepped up to the challenge and blew them out

as Ben did magic toothpick tricks and I got a good self portrait

and I toasted Ben's birthday with pizza washed down by Diet Snapple

so that we could see the family movie he had picked. Back at home, Ben turned to the first of the accumulated gifts while I posed in my raincoat

from all sides and Ben continued the process by opening the next gift and the one after that

before declaring it a very active and very enjoyable weekend. Good life together, Emily and Jim. Happy birthday Ben It was Karen Mink's last day in the office, so we toasted her (or maybe she toasted us) with one glass and then two

as Ben showed his electricity project

of the fruit plate Ben made to compliment the kiwi we had already seen. After a few false starts we were ready to experiment on this 10 dollar bill

that seemed to distress Ben as I looked to the distance

as Ben took a few pictures of the other buildings the grass and a cherry bomb

as Ben watched me chat further

and Ben watched and then went incognito

and Ben could watch as the phone call was finished

accompanied Ben's spaghetti and meatballs and Suzanne's fish

and Ben were more enthusiastic than it seems about the dessert

where Ben Suzanne

so that the game could happen after which we visited the more permanent fans and Ben then Ben and I posed with them as the stadium

and Ben showed off his Chase hand and Yankees basketball

for 50 cents so that we could venture forward to the mall where Ben looked down on this booth

before Ben and Suzanne

decided that we could head home. Sunday morning, Ben put on his new shirt from Old Navy which made him able to move faster than the camera but Suzanne posed

and Ben enjoyed their meal though we wished that Zorba and his wife

which made Ben and me know that it was time to go to the frisbee tournament. The first person we saw there was Noah and then Sarah

introduced Ben to friends from the team

sing their praises. This was the cue for Ben and me to get these groceries at Wawa

and Ben got ready to watch. Amv

and Ben started to get bored though the action

though Ben got excited when Suzanne

as Ben drank and the chain

and Ben dropped the incognito and showed his face

Ben and Jane

until Ben and Jane were seated and this self portrait

and Ben's burger convinced our waitress

until Ben climbed the stairs to the front door and prepared to dive

where Ben tried to enter and become one of the boxcar children even though he'd seen the posted signs

and Ben were having conversations

and Norma, Jane and Ben sat down and Ben ducked out of my picture

and Ben hid

and Ben pretended to be oblivious to Jane and Milt

and Ben played Game Boy in the corner. The sisters

and Ben paid a lot of attention to the birds that were to come home with us. Bob

Ben and Suzanne and Jane

as Ben hid and was caught

to get Ben and Jane into the same frame even as I shot over everyone's head and then got a few crowd shots

and Jane captured Ben as her feet

and Ben couldn't hide on the porch

and Ben suggested where they wanted to be, as I ate my pizza

Ben checked out the video games and all of us hoped to never eat another meal in Sbarro's. Goodbye Ligonier. This was a week in my life -- some lunches, some meetings with faculty, Ben's birthday party at a Trenton Thunder game and the infamous Behrman dinner. It began on Tuesday with lunch in my office with the artists who did the pictures Penelope Tang

for Ben to use in his ancestors project. On Thursday, Yoshiaki Shimizu (Art and Archaeology) came to visit and then I had lunch with

Ben and Sam and then various groupings

and Ben decided not to turn around for a photo op but Nathaniel

and then went back to trying for a picture of Ben without his head folded back

before the game ended with a final score of 10-2 so that Bobby, Ben and Sam could climb into my car for the trip home. Saturday morning, I admired the tulips

and Ben enjoyed the movie. Suzanne

and Ben and Jane

on the end while Ben and I took many shots to get an acceptable picture after which the bloody Mary's

Ben and Suzanne

as we celebrated a successful mother's day. It was author's tea. In previous years, we went to authors tea photography. But, before I could go, I looked out of my office window one day and saw some of Ben's classmates (on May 11). On the next day, May 12, I took pictures of Coe Evans

housing department. Finally, on Thursday May 13, it was time for the main event. Ben came into frame

and have Ben lead us on a tour of his work

it was Ben's turn and then he gave up the stage

and Ben's artwork to end a creative day. On Friday, May 14, I ran into Sarah on the campus. While we were talking, her friend Ara passed by and they posed together

before Ben and I escaped to the fountain and then we went to Talbots and waited

with Ben as we headed off to the Kerry rally where this man

and Ben came with the second group. After noting John Shea

as Joel and Ben hung by the tree and Sarah and Amv

that wouldn't take int he light. On Saturday May 22, I began the day with possible passport photos of Ben and Jane

explain why our paperwork was not in order for Ben and why our picture was not good for Jane. So, it will be another journey. It started on the 23rd of May, when Sarah assembled her friends for a salad dish

but Ben was more interested in the bread

so I was happy. Ben made it to the (almost) clean plate club as Sarah and Suzanne

of the English department who is staying and then headed off to Ben's school in the evening. This boy greeted us as I took a self portrait

wondered what the sleepover would be like. Ben's class filed in and Suzanne

to tell his tale. Next, Ben emerged and chased Joel

and Ben watched Joel catch some sleep

before Ben put on the Russian hat for his tale of Sam Levin

and Sam (Ben) was still in his hat with Bobby as the class gathered

and Joel and Ben made their way while Brian Blount posed

and then Ben posed for a number of hat pictures before I said hello to Dr. Ginsburg

and Ben showed us his Russia diorama complete with map

home with Ben incognito in the back seat. On May 28, to get ready for reunions, I had lunch with Dave Treadwell '89

who fixed the toilets to everyone's happiness. On Saturday, May 29, we woke up and Benjamin decided to stay home and build as Jane

pass us by, we knew it was time to go home to see what Ben was doing and have a healthy lunch

prepared to make their way and Ben waited for Alan

as Ben Kaplan arrived to accompany Sarah. So, we marched by generations starting with the PU students

for the next day. That evening, Ben found this cicada and showed it to Suzanne

though Ben chose to be replaced by the ketchup bottle which was finally lit well

and Ben's grilled cheese and fries and Suzanne's salad

Ben had for dipping at dessert as we cleared the table

then Ben and Suzanne

none of which had enough light. After a few pictures of Ben with light and without

and bring her and Ben home with food from George's. On Saturday, I saw Stef and his new wife

as Ben and I went on our mammoth walk and then saw the lobsters as Suzanne and I went on our mammoth shop

Ben and I

accompanied Ben's burger and my pizza

Ben's head and Jane

before capturing Ben and doing a number of self portraits

excited Ben Jane

asked to shake my hand, so I took his picture in return. It was time for the Albemarle concerts again. So, just as we'd done in and we headed off to All Saints Church on Friday night to see Ben and others

settled themselves as we saw Ben and then up close

and then Ben got ready to pose with Nate

and Nate and Ben before taking these pictures of our entire delegation

for posterity. After a few good bye shots of Ben Jane and I went to Olive's and took pictures of the owner

to learn Ben's song which Ben and Jane continued to sing in the elevator even as we headed out to dinner at the Border Cafe

and Ben was amused as Suzanne

Ben watched the dancers

in the dark though occasionally Ben could be seen even as the dark lifted

though he missed Ben the first time. Sunday morning, we paid tribute to Sen Lee and saw the police car at the donut shop

is almost Ben's pseudonym. After recording the potato famine the ride of Paul Revere

as Ben noted the sign of the Inn and we gathered Sarah's bag

and a picture of Ben being held as at the beach. It being Sarah's last night at home, we realized that we needed to go out for a farewell dinner but the wait was long as we sat

as Benjamin counted 1 2

and Ben posed before we got into sister pictures

as Ben decided which margarita

as I watched Ben as he watched television

and then returned to where Suzanne and Ben were watching Sarah

where Ben and Jane

in the distance. Ben relaxed as Dansyl

and Ben all wondered if my martini

and Ben and Sarah

and Ben's head hit the table. Some more baby holding

brought Benjamin back to life as Michelle

arrived to Ben's amusement and Sarah

watched football until Ben, Dan and I decided to park the car downtown and go to the Kennedy Museum

in the elevator and then took Ben for a swim as the ducks gathered

for Jane. I said good bye to Ben in the pool and made my way past the real rehearsal people

posed as Ben flew out of the frame and Suzanne and Jane

before Ben led us to a couch

as Ben posed for Jason

and Ben and Jane and then the 5 of us

as Ben had his fruit

and Ben went to visit Sylvia

as Ben and Sean were amused as Dan

and then was able to see Ben's mouth before the birthday girls appeared

and Ben posed with his apple before Jason showed off the shirt

and Ben led the way through security where this gentleman

was about to read The Fountainhead as Suzanne and Ben got the pretzel dog and I got the pizza

coming out of Frist with his Amazon package. Two days later, we had a repeat of previous first days and then proceeded to record this one. Ben posed by the tree and then Ben and Jane posed before we went to Kaylen's grandparents house and Jane and Kaylen posed

as Ben pretended it was still summer. En route, we ran into the Flemmer's

and Ben posed alone and then with the group

made a return visit. Ben posed 2 more times and then the bus

from economics and the Wilson School. On my way home, I stopped to pick up Ben at his Barclay Class which was very charming though I felt like the world was somehow upside down if I was the one wearing a tie and jacket when I spoke to the man in shorts and there was Ben in a pinstripe suit dancing with a girl with white gloves. My! how the world has changed. On September 15, this gentleman came from the shredding company

as Ben and Jane got together their sign

and then Ben did and so as we did in 2003 we were ready for the Race for the Cure. We even had tomatoes

as Ben read and Sara

and Ben displayed his hat and me my shirt

as Ben led us

Left to Right: Edgar Choueiri (Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering), Susan Stewart (English), Jonathan Eggenschwiler (Molecular Biology), Gillian Knapp (Astrophysics), Christopher Achen (Politics), David Wood (Chemical Engineering), Cecilia Rouse (Economics and Woodrow Wilson School). Now we were ready for Hallowe'en. So, Ben's costume was made and tried on

and we finally saw Ben as others marched by

as Ben and his friends watched. The parade continued

until Ben and his friends marched by and after a little more parade

and Ben and his team

while Ben and Lucy

to inspire us as Ben led the way through the Bucks County property

until Ben took a break as the woods were ahead

and Ben found a caterpillar who became his friend

where Ben's caterpillar got a friend and Jane and Lucy posed

and Ben took this picture and then this one that also included my head

Ben and I

and Ben's club sandwich came so that I could look inside my meal

to Ben as Lucy and Jane showed off their shoes and we made our way past the town festival sign

even as Ben and I played PayDay while the cake

as Ben did electronics and I missed

as Ben had a pre-game game

was serving the postgame food and Ben was doing the PS/2 thing even as food emerged

and Ben and Norma played gin. Scott (another of the books) arrived

wondered what Ben Jane (of bulging eyes)

which made Ben's plate amuse Jane

and she joined Ben at the table

and Ben ate

Ben and me

from Ben and we wondered

and Ben hid then appeared

and Ben helped the others

think about a departure as Ben the girls

Mary DeLorenzo (Provost's Office) It was nearing the end of another year and so it was time to take stock of the various things that hadn't been done in the year and of other things that would be fun as the year wound down. There was also the challenge of seeing how many pictures would be taken this year. On Monday December 27, the kids and I drove Suzanne to the airport so that she could spend a few days in Pittsburgh visiting Norma. Then we went to lunch and devoured Ben's meal even though the potato salad gave me indigestion for a few days. Maybe that is why Ben is laughing? Jane

to make some progress on the puzzle and Ben ate his sandwich as I finished my salad

Ben and our slowly assembling family -- 3 strong

from Molecular Biology who brought an interesting idea with him that will just be too hard to do. Then, it was time to depart for warmer climes as we had done in and so we said good bye to Ben and Jane

and headed to West End where Suzanne was talking to Ben on the cell phone as the sun began to set

could ever show the harshness of returning to the food you don't want to eat and the weather you don't want to endure after a nice winter's trip to a warm place with good beaches. It was January 18 and Ben Elman (History AND East Asian Studies) came to visit. Then I went to lunch with Walter Lippincott (Princeton University Press)

who is the head of the Crisis Ministry. On Sunday January 23, we awoke to lots (15" worth) of snow on the driveway and so the shoveling began. Ben spread the salt along the path

and then Ben and Sarah showed our excitement about the game that was going to be such a dissapointment later. The Hutner-Flemer's

that looked like it would never be cleared. Ben admired the house

was quite something as I walked behind Ben and Sarah as we made our way past this water valve

as Ben discovered this ice rock and SUbway was closed

to climb. All of this called for a good meal. Ben settled in at Zorba's Brother's as I got this collection sign

to make the cream greenish. After Ben finished stuying the menu I got my veggie burger

Paul Benaceraf (Philosophy) Diana Fuss (English)

for dinner. The next day, we all went to On The Border where Jane and Ben and Jeremy

as they made various drinks and once Ben finished eating and I tried a self portrait

before I took a picture of Ben and he took one of me

for a picture of Ben as the gates led the way

though Ben decided to climb up

to pass through and more pictures of Ben and the tree

to this structure where Ben took this picture of me and with some more marching

where Ben posed and then showed off his new hat

by wearing the magic hat before Ben took a few pictures of the family room and we sent Meredith out, camera in hand, to record the duckling family

as Ben decided to take a too close and too low

Ben (incognito) and I

Ben had his food and Suzanne

from the couch as Ben read jokes and Suzanne

recommended against Ben's better judgment though Jane and I

thought Ben kept hiding and Suzanne was caught unawares

aimed at getting a good picture of Ben and not just his water glass as Suzanne

almost got Ben posed thought he hid

from the tour Suzanne and Ben had taken. Ben got his meatball sub

who headed out with Ben to start the basketball game which became part of the board game party. As I recorded the welcome window

I recalled previous Ben birthday's including and 2000 with the sad observation that in 2002 my camera was broken and there was a shortage of new digital cameras. at which point it was time to return to the basketball game as Betsy and Bobby Sands

finished up as Ben Strauss joined the game

as Ben got and opened

the one gift that would be relevant to the party. Afterwards, some watched the Incredibles and some played Apples to Apples. Being in the latter group, I gave up my role as photo journalist. Three days later, it was Ben's real birthday, I began my celebration by meeting with Sukru Hanioglu of Near Eastern Studies and Ted Rabb

of History. Coming home to see Ben int he birthday hat was a step forward as the decorations

were set and Ben opened the diet snapple for Suzanne

and Ben performed to the amusement of Jane

and set things aside waiting for Ben's twelfth birthday. It was to be a time of celebration. On Wednesday, April 6, Sarah Kay who we are hoping to recruit from Cambridge for our French and Italian department appeared and then Kirk Unruh

involving Ben. The next day was party day. We were having a crowd of hundreds (well, maybe 100) and so it was good that Don was starting to get things ready and the wait staff

cleaning things up at Trinity. This inspired Ben and me to start our project of photographing the paperweights though the final images will appear elsewhere (on the paperweight page). The next day, I took Ben to Flemington for a chess tournament. If you look carefully at this picture you see this image of him hard at work. Afterwards, the award ceremony began and Ben waited until he was called up

as Ben was amused as we got ready to enter Rats

Ben posed and then got amused

to pose as Left to Right: Josh Goldstein (Woodrow Wilson School and Sociology), Alexandre d'Aspremont (Operations Research and Financial Engineering), Michael Bender (Geosciences), Katherine Newman (Woodrow Wilson School and Sociology), Mona Singh (Computer Science), Gaetana Marrone-Puglia (French and Italian), Susan Taylor (Art Museum). Then, on the way home from work, I saw the new bust of Albert who was chatting with the man with the newspaper

on Nassau Street. It was the afternoon of the first evening of Passover and so we had to start thinking about a Seder as we had recorded in But first, Ben and I continued on our project to get pictures of all of the paperweights by adding these to the collection before I peeled the apples

to drop off Sam and Ben gave his birthday present and even in the second take

Ann had brought while Ben went out and brought in the mail. Sarah and Devon arrived

and opened it for tasting. Ben emerged and we left the matzah ball soup aside

where we read from the haggadah ( No, Ben is not asleep ) and then had chicken

and Ben was practicing

seemed more appropriate. Ben and I headed off to FristFest where we met ChefRon out of uniform and this gentleman (whose name I forget)

Ben and I

enjoyed the quiet with a good book though some of us put the book down for the photos. That evening, we left Ben and Nathaniel and put on our formal gear

give their flute concerts as Ben and Jane were ready for celebrations afterwards. The next day was the next Behrmann dinner. So as we had done in we put on our fancies and Suzanne posed with Ben and then Ben and Jane and then Jane

and Ben shooting

before heading home to assemble the troups for the annual Mother's day lunch. As we'd done in previous years we went to Main Street where we sat at the same table but in different seats as Ben and Sarah were one side Suzanne was at the head

even as Ben posed for a few more pictures. We began with Bloody Mary's (as we did last year)

Ben had the burger Sarah had the salad

assembled with Ben on the sidelines as Doris Shea

watched. Next Ben's band (he's on the left) played and I captured a broad picture

as well deserved flowers appeared and we checked out Ben and headed off

might be what she captured. On Friday, May 13, we gathered Ben and Suzanne

all of which happened as Ben tied his bandana and

so we went to see Ben's artwork with him and then headed home and soon after Claire Mulvey

made Ben fly by and the flowers highlighted an excellent dinner as the table

decide to act like we were band performers much to the amusement of Emily and Ben before the bus came and I departed to catch up with Brad Barber, my former student,

as Benjamin hid in the other room and Justin

Tess Edmonds, Jane Dobkin, Youngmin Yi, Lucy McKeon (can't see), Jen Lerner, Lauren Santiago, Caitlin Rhoades (can't see), Younjin Yi, Liz Gale-Bentz, Lauren Engelbert, Catherine Marchetta, Christina Jones, Raisa Ahmed, Elena Fabiano as the conversations continued and the food stood

to find Harry Potter. Saturday May 20 dawned as a beautiful day so Ben and Suzanne

and Polly and Ben Straus before Ben Suzanne

settled in for chocolate chip pancakes (Ben) mushroom omelet (Suzanne)

Laurel Harvey (Administration) came. On May 27, we went out for sushi for dinner. Ben Suzanne

was our waitress. Saturday morning (May 28), as Ben chose his clothes, Matt Traylor

and picking up Ben from the sleep over when he showed me his injured toe which looked better

came over and Ben played his game as Nathaniel posed

spurring Ben on to greater heights. The games must have been inspiring because both Jane and Ben were sound asleep when we returned home that night. On Sunday June 12, we went to Small World for coffee and ran into Bob Cava and David MacMillan

tried to make sense of Ben's test scores as Ben played PS/2 and Jane worked on her picture editting

and Ben (who tried to escape) shared antipasta

and sang some songs even as Suzanne was putting Ben to sleep in preparation for the last day when he'd wake up and go to Johnson Park and the last day (after 16 years straight) when I'd take a kid to elementary school. The next day, we came down and the kitchen counter

that had come in the cereal as Ben was ready to go and Jane

but Ben was not participating. After admiring the statues Sarah bought in Greece we headed to school where Dr. Ginsburg was talking to the PTO mothers

until it was Ben's and then Stephanie Klockenbrink's

Ben and Jeremy posed and then Ben showed us the planting he had done around the school. On the way to the car, I ran into Ed Percarpio

who were practicing for their later life. Once home, Jane and Ben were on the couch and Suzanne was glad to see me

with Ben Sarah
