It was the last real weekend of summer and we decided to go to Ligonier to see the Gespasses and the other sites there. We got a slightly late start P8240068 but desperately needed gas P8240069 even at these prices P8240070 and were willing to obey this sign P8240071 and get help from this woman P8240072 who was very slow at getting us serviced. Then we drove to Ligonier knowing that we had already recorded these sites of the Pennsylvania turnpike .

The next day, we went to Fort Ligonier where we were greeted with this howitzer

P8250073 and the field piece P8250074 that Benjamin showed us. P8250075 We saw the new buildings -- the smoke house P8250076 hospital P8250077 and silversmith shop P8250078 that are not yet open for visiting. Then we admired the fort P8250079 and its protecting cannons P8250080 and noticed that Suzanne was color coordinated P8250081 thanks to the bad presentation of color by the camera. The big cannon P8250082 impressed us all P8250083 as we made our way to the mess hall P8250084 where some of the food P8250085 looked less appetizing than these P8250086 P8250087 conglomerations. The butler P8250088 did well at maintaining the quarters P8250089 making Suzanne P8250090 happy as we made our way past the powder P8250091 to the armory P8250092 where the smith P8250093 was hard at work. Next we went to the Forbes hut P8250094 where the poor general P8250095 had written his last will P8250096 and would never enjoy his dinner. P8250097 At the hospital P8250098 we watched them tend to this man P8250099 and try to repair this person's P8250100 missing limb. All this excitement made Suzanne hungry P8250101 so we headed past the food P8250102 to the commissary P8250103 where she felt better. P8250104 Next we went to the officer's quarters P8250105 where George Washington P8250106 was greeted by Montgomery and Bouquet P8250107 P8250108 in an image more real than this picture P8250109 but perhaps not as real as this picture P8250110 of General Wolfe's last stand. P8250111

The next day, Benjamin made a tea party P8260112 P8260113 P8260114 for the teddy bears P8260115 P8260116 P8260117 P8260118 the stuffed animal P8260119 and the pound puppy. P8260120 We said good bye to all of them P8260121 and hit the road where we followed these motorcycles for awhile P8260122 P8260123 before finding this gas station (note the price) P8260124 and waited behind these cars P8260125 as Suzanne P8260126 speculated on the price.

The last highlight of the trip was this trailer pulling a hansom P8260127 past these people going back to college P8260128 as the horse trailer P8260129 tried to pass the college bound car. P8260130
