It all started on Tuesday, April 13, when I had IMG_0626 IMG_0627 Mike Jennings (German), Hal Foster (Art and Archaeology), Shirley Tilghman (President), Stan Allen (Architecture), Susan Taylor (Art Museum) and Paul Dimaggio (Sociology) in for lunch. The next day, Wednesday, IMG_0628 IMG_0629 Michael Oppenheimer (Woodrow Wilson School and Geosciences), Peter Schaefer (Religion), Eldar Shafir (Psychology), Ken Steglitz (Computer Science), Alastair Wright (Art and Archaeology), and Yin Lu (Julie) Young (Civil and Environmental Engineering) came. On Thursday, IMG_0630 IMG_0631 Mccauley Peterson of OIT came to help work on our secret project.

Lunch that day was a major cause for celebration, IMG_0632 Lorraine Post (shown with her husband) IMG_0633 and Nita Cherry (shown with her husband) were being honored as outstanding employees (which they are!). Here they're shown with their supervisor, Kris Miller IMG_0634 and here with their supervisor's supervisor, IMG_0635 (that would be me). I went into Manhattan for dinner at the Harvard Club with Bill Kirby IMG_0636 who is my counterpart at Harvard. The next morning, Linda, Sheryl and Suzanne IMG_0637 headed off for a road trip bringing back pistachio nuts (see below) among other things.

Saturday morning, it was time for a Mary Kay IMG_0638 show and Pam and her friend IMG_0639 came with refreshments IMG_0640 and set the table IMG_0641 from this supply IMG_0642 as the guests began to arrive IMG_0643 with their driver IMG_0644 so that the party could begin IMG_0645 up close IMG_0646 and from afar IMG_0647 which made Ben and me know that it was time to go to the frisbee tournament.

The first person we saw there was Noah IMG_0648 and then Sarah IMG_0649 IMG_0650 in the distance as the other photographer IMG_0651 captured some pictures of the toss off IMG_0652 IMG_0653 after which Sarah joined Noah IMG_0654 for a group photo IMG_0655 on the sidelines before re-entering the game IMG_0656 IMG_0657 though I got distracted IMG_0658 IMG_0659 by my attempts to get a picture of the Vassar girl IMG_0660 with the serious red hair. Fordham IMG_0661 looked dejected as Princeton IMG_0662 got set to celebrate and Sarah IMG_0663 IMG_0664 IMG_0665 IMG_0666 IMG_0667 worked to open the gift IMG_0668 that Noah brought as she IMG_0669 introduced Ben IMG_0670 to friends from the team IMG_0671 and posed with them IMG_0672 before opening the gift IMG_0673 as people gathered IMG_0674 IMG_0675 to watch the process IMG_0676 IMG_0677 IMG_0678 IMG_0679 IMG_0680 until the gong appeared IMG_0681 and was struck IMG_0682 so that Sarah could pose with her friend IMG_0683 and then the siblings IMG_0684 IMG_0685 could join and then even I IMG_0686 could join before the team photos IMG_0687 IMG_0688 and the beleagured team IMG_0689 got ready to hear the winners IMG_0690 sing their praises.

This was the cue for Ben and me to get these groceries IMG_0691 at Wawa IMG_0692 and to bring his sandwich IMG_0693 and the drinks IMG_0694 and my sandwich IMG_0695 back as the team assembled IMG_0696 IMG_0697 and Ben got ready IMG_0698 IMG_0699 to watch.

Amv IMG_0700 arrived and I set her to the task of recording the action as the team got ready IMG_0701 IMG_0702 for game 2 as Sarah posed IMG_0703 IMG_0704 with friends and Amv showed that she has the profile thing IMG_0705 down pat as she recorded us IMG_0706 and then the action IMG_0707 IMG_0708 IMG_0709 IMG_0710 against Columbia and on the sidelines IMG_0711 IMG_0712 IMG_0713 as the game heated up IMG_0714 IMG_0715 IMG_0716 and I did another self portrait IMG_0717 while Sarah IMG_0718 got vicious IMG_0719 on defense IMG_0720 and Ben started to get bored IMG_0721 though the action IMG_0722 continued as he IMG_0723 IMG_0724 pondered the world and the room mates IMG_0725 posed as he gathered our things IMG_0726 and made our way to watch the men IMG_0727 IMG_0728 though Ben IMG_0729 got excited when Suzanne IMG_0730 arrived because he didn't realize he'd be going to the concert IMG_0731 and not getting home until Sarah's cake IMG_0732 was half eaten. Sarah put on the birthday crown IMG_0733 and started opening IMG_0734 IMG_0735 taking a break to give us this card IMG_0736 which read better in the dark IMG_0737 and had a beautiful cover picture IMG_0738 so that she could open more IMG_0739 as Ben drank IMG_0740 and the chain IMG_0741 came out. She worked her way IMG_0742 IMG_0743 to trying it on IMG_0744 IMG_0745 and then moved on IMG_0746 to the next card IMG_0747 and present IMG_0748 which were shoes IMG_0749 that needed to be tried on IMG_0750 during which time Jane's text IMG_0751 and card IMG_0752 appeared. Jane IMG_0753 tried on the necklace as Sarah IMG_0754 showed her tan IMG_0755 and Jane watched IMG_0756 as Sarah showed her blister IMG_0757 and up close IMG_0758 then Sarah IMG_0759 tried on her hat IMG_0760 IMG_0761 IMG_0762 and Ben IMG_0763 dropped the incognito and showed his face IMG_0764 as Sarah IMG_0765 Ben IMG_0766 and Jane IMG_0767 watched Sarah IMG_0768 try on ear rings and get the next gift IMG_0769 as I did a self portrait IMG_0770 and a profile IMG_0771 and Sarah IMG_0772 tried on another ear ring IMG_0773 as the kids IMG_0774 IMG_0775 IMG_0776 watched the food and Jane's many attempts at profile got lots of Suzanne IMG_0777 IMG_0778 IMG_0779 and a little of Jane IMG_0780 whose expression of horror IMG_0781 was undoubted derived from a bad photo IMG_0782 and the pistachio nuts IMG_0783 IMG_0784 from Trader Joe's.

I finished the weekend in more sedate moments with my fellow deans IMG_0785 IMG_0786 Peter LePage (Cornell), Sharon Long (Stanford) and Peter Salovey (Yale).
