Sarah had gotten home from spring break in Georgia, the weather was nice,
everyone was in a good mood, so Suzanne went on a shopping and cooking
spree. She made this salad
IMG_0246
one dish pasta primavera (one dish to serve it in, not to
cook it in)
IMG_0247
got this chicken
IMG_0248
and sushi
IMG_0249
and we were ready to have a feast.
Kaylen came and she and Jane posed but first Jane
sucked on her straw
IMG_0250
then Kaylen looked down
IMG_0251
but finally
IMG_0252
we got the perfect picture.
Joyce
IMG_0253
was back from Middlebury and she and Sarah
IMG_0254
IMG_0255
ate the bread as they finalized the plans for the evening.
Ben
IMG_0256
brought his basketball to the meal. Suzanne
IMG_0257
got everything
IMG_0258
on to the table so that I could make my food face
IMG_0259
and observe the scene
IMG_0260
IMG_0261
at the other end of the table while we had an
intense discussion classifying families as being
either Suck it up or not Suck it up families.
On Sunday, we drove to Philadelpia to the Wyndham
IMG_0262
to drop Suzanne
IMG_0263
off for her conference while the rest of us drove to Bainbridge Street
IMG_0264
to park and then walk to the PhilaDeli Restaurant
IMG_0265
which a great sign
IMG_0266
but first we paid homage to Isaiah Zagar's work
IMG_0267
on the wall. His work is all over the neighborhood.
Once inside, this was the only sign
IMG_0268
I saw in the bathroom. Dr Len met us there
IMG_0269
and Ben took notice
IMG_0270
as Judy
IMG_0271
and Jane
IMG_0272
posed and then Jane took this picture
IMG_0273
of mine while the toast
IMG_0274
came and then Ben's turkey burger
IMG_0275
Jane's burger platter
IMG_0276
and my salad
IMG_0277
which looked better without flash
IMG_0278
as did the Russian dressing
IMG_0279
in the no flash
IMG_0280
version. The waitress wouldn't let us take a picture of her
face but she did let us take this picture of the back of her shirt
IMG_0281
Gentle reader: Many of the scenes in the next few paragraphs were
also recorded before. You can look
( here )
to see how things have changed and get a different view of
South Street
After lunch, we saw a playground in the distance
IMG_0282
and after paying homage to Levis'.
IMG_0283
IMG_0284
entered the playground
IMG_0285
because it has a hoop
IMG_0286
which caused Benjamin
IMG_0287
to move out of the frame to get the ball from Dr Len
IMG_0288
but he passed to Jane
IMG_0289
who studied the hoop
IMG_0290
before making her shot
IMG_0291
Basketball done, we headed down the street recording the pierced
tongues
IMG_0292
puppets
IMG_0293
the cigar
IMG_0294
and Moe Fine
IMG_0295
before going to Hats in the Belfry
IMG_0296
where this woman
IMG_0297
sold Ben a hat. But before we could try the hat, Dr Len appeared with a
water ice
IMG_0298
from Rita's
IMG_0299
so we checked out the menu
IMG_0300
and Benjamin waited
IMG_0301
while they
IMG_0302
prepared his chocolate
IMG_0303
and Jane's tropical punch
IMG_0304
water ices.
Then it was time to look at the hat
IMG_0305
so Dr Len tried it on
IMG_0306
and I did
IMG_0307
while Jane and Benjamin
IMG_0308
finished their water ices and we continued on past the store
with the Sponge Bob T shirts
IMG_0309
and bought Jane these bracelets
IMG_0310
and left to get Suzanne but not before we took a picture of Len and Judy
IMG_0311
and this gentleman
IMG_0312
took a picture of all of us
IMG_0313
to record the end of a nice weekend.
