Benjamin was staying a lying down strike and refusing to practice PB250589 so I decided to drive down to Philadelphia PB300590 later that week and parked here PB300591 by the prison PB300592 as I observed the flag PB300593 on the front of the house opposite Dr Len's PB300594 house. I stopped there and we headed off to do errands of various types.

First we went to the post office at this entrance PB300595 but since Dr Len doesn't work there PB300596 we had to go in the main door and DrLen did his business at this window PB300597 while I took the obligatory stamp machine photo PB300598 and then recorded the signage PB300599 until DrLen had his package PB300600 and so we were ready to leave. Across from the post office was this interesting sculpture PB300601 and this triangular house PB300602 and, of course, I took the obligatory phone booth picture PB300603 as we drove towards South Philly passing the jazz club PB300604 the pizza parlor PB300605 the mural PB300606 and the For Lease sign PB300607 on our way to the Morning Glory PB300608 where Len led the way in PB300609 The menu looked good PB300610 and especially the specials PB300611

DrLen has the Grilled chicken pasta salad PB300612 and I had the papaya pancakes. PB300613 Afterwards, I recorded all of the honors the restaurant has won PB300614 PB300615 to the delight of the waitress. PB300616 We paid the check PB300617 and I took the obligatory rest room photos for my collection PB300618 PB300619 before we headed off to Frank's garage where they had reserved a space PB300620 for us.

In Frank's garage, Lenny has lots of signs some of which I captured here like these pictures of the saw from Nagelberg's Supply PB300621 PB300622 PB300623 PB300624 PB300625 PB300626 and the ice cream sign PB300627 and part of the pie man sign. PB300628 I did some experiments with the GE sign PB300629 PB300630 PB300633 and then caught more the ice cream sign PB300631 PB300632 before turning to the SunRay sign -- the mortar and pestle. PB300634 PB300635 PB300636 PB300639 and the Arthur's Fuel bus. PB300637 PB300638 PB300643 Frank's place is great with the cord tangled PB300640 a collection of fire extinguishers PB300641 another of cones PB300642 shopping carts of tools PB300644 an elegant waste basket PB300645 and this bucket of heavy chain. PB300646 Upstairs, there is this thermometer PB300647 that shows it was a warm day and this signage PB300648 intermingled with a chest of sorting drawers PB300649 a broken clock PB300650 an old calendar PB300651 and Nick's pictures PB300652

Afterwards, we were on to Termini bakery PB300653 PB300654 where the windows were nicely decorated PB300655 PB300656 and the door PB300657 was the real McCoy.

Once inside, we were in a food photographers delight. Donuts and sticky buns PB300658 next to cakes PB300659 and ginger bread men PB300660 and pastries fruity PB300661 chocolate PB300662 and cannoli PB300663 The wall was covered with plaques of appreciation PB300664 PB300666 and a diploma from the CIA PB300665 but even here the rules of commerce are harsh. PB300667 After one more look at the racks PB300668 we bought this PB300669 which she PB300670 kindly wrapped for us. We obeyed the signs PB300671 but did try the samples. PB300672 On the way out, I got pictures of the wedding ornaments PB300673 PB300674 Once back in the car, I opened my cannoli PB300675 and ate it as we drove by some murals by Isaiah Zagar PB300676 PB300677 PB300678 and this wall of blurry words. PB300679 past the Circle K PB300680 until we got to the building that Charlie is renovating. PB300681 Work was going in all directions PB300682 and across the street was the building that was just sold PB300683 and the building that helped start the anchoring of the neighborhood. PB300684 After a round of graffiti posters PB300685 it was time to head home.

Saturday was a beautiful day. So, Benjamin and Jane PC010686 and I decided to head out once Jane PC010687 finished her picture. We walked past the veboten field PC010688 where these guys PC010689 had just played on the winning team. Ben pushed the button PC010690 so that we could cross the street. PC010691

Breakfast was bagels PC010692 from Abel's bagels where the menu PC010693 PC010694 partly obscured the preparer. Jane PC010695 liked hers as did Ben and I PC010696 PC010697 PC010698 PC010699 in various views.

We stopped next at the Cingular office where this woman PC010700 explained voice mail to us. We next paused to take a picture of the infamous and now reopened (hopefully sans anthrax) post office. PC010701

Next, it was on to the bricks. We started with the Love, Love, Love brick PC010702 and next Gillespie's brick PC010703 from both sides PC010704 and the (former) governor's block PC010705 with the mistake on it. We took 3 pictures of the Kramer's brick PC010706 PC010707 PC010708

On the way home, we stopped at Jane's thoughtful tree PC010709 PC010710 PC010711 for some final pictures and then ran into Nathaniel PC010712 and Rhonda PC010713 at the seminary decorations making party.
