It was the weekend. A lot of people came into our lives and a lot of people left. More of our family than usual took pictures including some artistic work. We recorded much of it. Despite the appearances reflected in this web page, we did spend a fair amount of the weekend out of the house. We just recorded very little of that activity.

To set the context, it was the beginning of fall break, so Sarah was quite happy to be home for a few days and David was happy to have his responsibilities reduced, though he should really have been writing that grant proposal rather than playing with the camera. It all started on Saturday when this IMG_1750 was Benjamin's reaction to the rain and to the thought of going to the football game with Harvard, though we did manage to catch the second quarter and to show the Tigers how to score a touchdown, though our lesson didn't seem to take.

After dinner, the gang assembled IMG_1751 IMG_1752 to do some cookie decoration which only worked because more cookies IMG_1753 were being rolled out onto cookie sheets IMG_1754 and put into the oven IMG_1755 even as the ingredients accumulated IMG_1756 for further making cookies IMG_1757 IMG_1758 IMG_1759 that would later fill our bellies.

Chris appeared IMG_1760 to Suzanne's amusement IMG_1761 to pick up Kaylen IMG_1762 as Jane made her tongue face IMG_1763 her eyes closed face IMG_1764 and her frog face IMG_1765 to show her displeasure that even though there were more cookies to be decorated, IMG_1766 Michael was here IMG_1767 and Lucy would have to leave.

Sarah's gang from high school days gathered IMG_1768 and came together IMG_1769 for a few group pictures IMG_1770 IMG_1771 before Jane and Lucy took their biblical tract picture IMG_1772 and left them to gather partly together IMG_1773 IMG_1774 IMG_1775 for a few more pictures. Benjamin IMG_1776 pretended to get ready for bed as the girls IMG_1777 IMG_1778 looked at prior pictures and the cookies IMG_1779 and pizza leftover from dinner IMG_1780 kept the cookies IMG_1781 company in the kitchen.

Meanwhile, Jane IMG_1782 was chatting as Suzanne IMG_1783 and Benjamin IMG_1784 watched the World Series. IMG_1785 The night ended with a picture of the cameras IMG_1786 used to take pictures of the girls that might or might not appear here at some future date after they have been processed by conventional means and turned into digital form.

The next day, Andy posed IMG_1787 and then there were the brother and sister pictures IMG_1788 IMG_1789 IMG_1790 before we revisited the cookies IMG_1791 and decorations IMG_1792 from the night before. This enabled us to tune in on the Steelers game IMG_1793 where they had a hefty lead.

This freed Sarah to take her artistic black and white shots of the world as she was seeing it. She began with shots of Benjamin IMG_1794 IMG_1795 then me IMG_1796 then Benjamin again IMG_1797 IMG_1798 then Jane IMG_1799 then Benjamin and me IMG_1800 the coat on the carpet IMG_1801 back to me, IMG_1802 brother IMG_1803 and sister IMG_1804 on parallel phones though they were not talking to each other at the time and then the flower IMG_1805 IMG_1806 and witch pictures IMG_1807 which were to be revisited.

Meanwhile, Benjamin and Sebastian were hard at work in the yard IMG_1808 and the ants in color IMG_1809 and black and white IMG_1810 were guarding our entryway.

Thanks to the incompetence of US Air out of Trenton, Andy IMG_1811 had the opportunity to spend an hour with this gentleman IMG_1812 en route to Philadelphia airport. This inspired Jane to do a combined frog and tongue picture IMG_1813 maybe because she knew that the antifreeze was coming next?

I went off to explore the basketball hoop and find the place IMG_1814 where the antifreeze IMG_1815 was to be added. After taking off the top, IMG_1816 I found the seal IMG_1817 which I punctured IMG_1818 and added to the water mixture to prevent freezing. Meanwhile, Benjamin and Sebastian were gathering flora IMG_1819 to fill their bucket IMG_1820 even as Suzanne IMG_1821 read the Odyssey IMG_1822 to help Jane achieving a deeper understanding.

Sarah and I headed into town. We met a photographer and so recorded the colors IMG_1823 and trees IMG_1824 IMG_1825 IMG_1826 IMG_1827 he was seeing even from the angle IMG_1828 he was shooting though we never expect to get his pictures for comparison purposes. We took a picture of Sarah IMG_1829 on the campus as requested by Jan and Jan IMG_1830 who happened by.

Back at home, Suzanne was still reading IMG_1831 and Jane was buried in her work IMG_1832 as Benjamin thought about cleaning the floor IMG_1833 and Sarah gathered together the vegetables IMG_1834 and extra peppers IMG_1835 and still more cookies IMG_1836 IMG_1837 that seemed to cause her to sprout weird Halloween ears IMG_1838 as Jane downloaded an episode of the Simpsons IMG_1839 for her English project.

The table was set IMG_1840 the pillows were out IMG_1841 as Jane got back to work IMG_1842 and Benjamin took a few pictures of me IMG_1843 IMG_1844 before finishing off IMG_1845 the cleaning of the floor. The table was ready IMG_1846 as Sarah prepared more IMG_1847 IMG_1848 and even cooked a few things IMG_1849 though the cuisineart IMG_1850 seemed unhappy and the pot IMG_1851 boiled when not being watched.

The appetizers were placed out IMG_1852 as Benjamin recorded the books IMG_1853 and the witch IMG_1854 and Sarah cooked IMG_1855 and the appetizers started to disappear IMG_1856 even as the Patriots tried to stay in the game IMG_1857 against Denver.

By now the guests had arrived. Amy told her tale IMG_1858 to the amusement of Bolko and Edwin IMG_1859 and the witch, IMG_1860 IMG_1861 no doubt. At the well prepared table, IMG_1862 my plate IMG_1863 was full and then IMG_1864 it was empty even though a little pasta IMG_1865 and salad IMG_1866 remained. The guests IMG_1867 wondered why I kept taking their pictures but they saved room for ice cream IMG_1868 and cookies IMG_1869 and more cookies IMG_1870 and even more IMG_1871 as Benjamin read his book report IMG_1872 and then said good night IMG_1873 to the assembled masses so that we could end the weekend and prepare for the new week.
