For the third straight year, we decided to celebrate Independence Day with Lucy and her family. Caroline brought the July 4th hat which was worn by Jane IMG_1112 Lucy IMG_1113 Ben IMG_1114 Michael IMG_1115 Caroline IMG_1116 Ben, again IMG_1117 and David IMG_1118 She also brought this hat for Suzanne IMG_1119 who do a mad hatter act IMG_1120 and then a madder hatter IMG_1121 or was she being Bartholomew Cubbins and working towards 500 hats?

The ingredients came out IMG_1122 IMG_1123 IMG_1124 for gin and tonics and then Jane IMG_1125 and Lucy and Jane posed with hat IMG_1126 IMG_1127 without hat IMG_1128 IMG_1129 IMG_1130 then embracing IMG_1131 then back-to-back IMG_1132 IMG_1133 IMG_1134 IMG_1135 IMG_1136 and side by side IMG_1137 in what will someday be their modeling portfolios.

We fired up the grill IMG_1138 and cleaned the grate IMG_1139 until we got to a good temperature IMG_1140 and so unpacked the food IMG_1141 and put it on the grill IMG_1142 while Michael IMG_1143 and Benjamin IMG_1144 tossed a ball, Jane and Lucy chilled IMG_1145 on the deck and after another round of photos IMG_1146 IMG_1147 IMG_1148 the food was done on the grill IMG_1149 and ready for transportation IMG_1150 into the house where the food looked IMG_1151 quite good -- this was Michael's plate IMG_1152

After dinner, Lucy showed us how she could turn beer IMG_1153 into milk IMG_1154 and we all thanked Thomas Jefferson for the holiday.
