04.14.05 It had been a delightful week of weather with each day a little bit nicer than the one before. So, of course, people were out walking and on Thursday (4/14) on the way home from work. I ran into the Sandersons IMG_0651 pushing their baby (eyes opened for the first time) IMG_0652

towards town.

04.14.05 Then, on Saturday (4/16) as I made my way home, there were John Sully and 2 friends IMG_0653 cleaning things up at Trinity. This inspired Ben and me to start our project of photographing the paperweights IMG_0654 IMG_0655 IMG_0656 IMG_0657 IMG_0658 IMG_0659 IMG_0660 IMG_0661 IMG_0662 IMG_0663 IMG_0664 though the final images will appear elsewhere (on the paperweight page).

04.17.05 The next day, I took Ben to Flemington for a chess tournament. If you look carefully at this picture IMG_0665 you see this image of him hard at work. Afterwards, the award ceremony began IMG_0666 and Ben waited IMG_0667 until he was called up IMG_0668 to receive the trophy IMG_0669 for 1st place (4 wins, no losses) in the grade 4-12 section. An exciting time.

We came home because it was time to celebrate our anniversary. We gathered the clan including these respectable people with an umbrella IMG_0670 IMG_0671 and this younger man who replaced me IMG_0672 IMG_0673 IMG_0674 and then just Sarah and Ed posed IMG_0675 as Ben was amused IMG_0676 as we got ready to enter Rats IMG_0677 for a celebratory dinner. I had a martini IMG_0678 which threw off the next picture IMG_0679 but my plate IMG_0680 was quite nice before it was removed to make room for the radish soup IMG_0681 and other courses IMG_0682 IMG_0683 as the others had fish IMG_0684 and chicken IMG_0685 and my ravioli IMG_0686 and risotto IMG_0687 kept me happy even as Jane dug into her filet mignon IMG_0688 as the bread person posed IMG_0689 which made the waiter IMG_0690 want his picture taken too.

Then it was time for individual pictures, so Jane posed IMG_0691 Ben posed IMG_0692 and then got amused IMG_0693 Ed posed IMG_0694 Sarah posed IMG_0695 and I took this self portrait IMG_0696 before capturing Suzanne IMG_0697 and letting someone else capture me IMG_0698 in the family group.

Sarah next did an excellent job of recording a trip to the lady's room IMG_0699 IMG_0700 IMG_0701 IMG_0702 IMG_0703 IMG_0704 IMG_0705 complete with plants IMG_0706 in the stall.

After dinner, it was time to celebrate Sarah's birthday and so we started the ritual of present opening IMG_0707 IMG_0708 with a display of earrings IMG_0709 and a large bow IMG_0710 and then more presents IMG_0711 IMG_0712 IMG_0713 with a break for complimentary pastries IMG_0714 and more presents IMG_0715 IMG_0716 IMG_0717 IMG_0718 until the hands IMG_0719 were tired and the desserts IMG_0720 IMG_0721 including fries and shake IMG_0722 came along with the bill IMG_0723 IMG_0724 which showed that a night out with the family isn't as cheap as it used to be.

After visiting with some people in the garden IMG_0725 IMG_0726 IMG_0727 and seeing the mother and child IMG_0728 we admired some sculptures in the dark IMG_0729 IMG_0730 before having some tea IMG_0731 with the old timers and taking one last picture IMG_0732 with which to close off the celebration.

04.18.05 On Monday (4/18), there was a camera crew at the bus stop IMG_0733 to record Seminary parents who take their kids to the bus. Then at the end of the day, Meredith's car IMG_0734 was loaded with balloons for Sarah's real birthday. While we weren't invited to the celebration, Devon Louise Cecilia Wessman-Smerdon took these pictures IMG_100_2594 IMG_100_2595 IMG_100_2596 IMG_100_2597 IMG_100_2598 IMG_100_2599 IMG_100_2602 so we feel like we were there.

04.19.05 On Tuesday (4/19), a faculty group came to lunch IMG_0735 but took a while IMG_0736 to pose as Left to Right: Josh Goldstein (Woodrow Wilson School and Sociology), Alexandre d'Aspremont (Operations Research and Financial Engineering), Michael Bender (Geosciences), Katherine Newman (Woodrow Wilson School and Sociology), Mona Singh (Computer Science), Gaetana Marrone-Puglia (French and Italian), Susan Taylor (Art Museum). Then, on the way home from work, I saw the new bust of Albert IMG_0737 who was chatting with the man with the newspaper IMG_0738 as I went to vote in the school board election.

04.20.05 On Wednesday (4/20), Spencer Meredith '53 IMG_0739 and Mary Baum (Development) IMG_0740 came to discuss the Dominican Republic and later in the day, Sabine Kastner (Psychology) IMG_0741 came to explain how she could push neuroscience in a direction that would allow them to not put electrodes in my brain.

04.21.05 Thursday (4/21) began with coffee with Marsha Gilman IMG_0742 after which I met with Ron Witte IMG_0743 and Sarah Whiting IMG_0744 whoa re job candidates in Architecture. I ended the work day in a discussion with Slobodan Curcic (Art and Archaeology) IMG_0745 before heading out. On my eventual way home, I ran into Jan Woods IMG_0746 on Nassau Street.
