Imagine our surprise today when we woke up and discovered that school had been canceled. When I saw this IMG_0405 out of the window of my study, I understood why. So, Benjamin and Nathaniel worked at cleaned the car IMG_0406 as Suzanne put a few more stitches in her knitting IMG_0407 and got ready to walk to town.

The car cleaning went on for a while IMG_0408 IMG_0409 IMG_0410 IMG_0411 IMG_0412 and then shifted to my car IMG_0413 because Suzanne's car seemed to be doing ok IMG_0414 while I had a lot of snow IMG_0415 IMG_0416 still to clear from mine.

This was the view to the street IMG_0417 and this the bush on the front lawn IMG_0418 as the boys continued working on my car IMG_0419 IMG_0420 IMG_0421 IMG_0422 IMG_0423 IMG_0424 IMG_0425 IMG_0426 and I found the New York Times IMG_0427 and the submerged garbage can IMG_0428 on the curb as the street was snow covered IMG_0429 IMG_0430 in both directions and the trees across the street IMG_0431 were impressive as was the snow IMG_0432 on our driveway. The house had its majestic snow look IMG_0433 as I tried to find the bus stop IMG_0434 and then came back to the door IMG_0435 where Ben IMG_0436 and Nathaniel IMG_0437 didn't seem to care if Jane and Suzanne IMG_0438 ever appeared.

But it was time to start our journey with Nathaniel IMG_0439 Jane IMG_0440 Ben and Suzanne IMG_0441 along for the ride which made me happy to have my boots IMG_0442 at the ready. Nathaniel decided he had to tackle Ben a few times IMG_0443 IMG_0444 and at the wedge, Jane and Suzanne crossed IMG_0445 as Nathaniel IMG_0446 and Ben IMG_0447 waited with me on the other side. Nassau Street was clear IMG_0448 as we marched on IMG_0449 to a side view of Nassau Hall through the bars IMG_0450 and up closer IMG_0451 and the standard photograph view IMG_0452 as we prepared to cross IMG_0453 Nassau Street IMG_0454 to make our way IMG_0455 IMG_0456 down the street IMG_0457 with the clear sidewalk IMG_0458 and the snow covered bench IMG_0459 to Panera's where we looked through my shadow into the window and saw Sarah and Laura (just barely) IMG_0460 and went in to see Daniel IMG_0461 Sarah and Laura IMG_0462 enjoying their lunches. We walked over the icy stretch IMG_0463 to PJ's IMG_0464 where Ben and Nathaniel sat IMG_0465 across from Suzanne IMG_0466 as I recorded the menu cover IMG_0467 and inside IMG_0468 and the bar scene IMG_0469 until Jane and Fred IMG_0470 arrived and sat down IMG_0471 so that the waitress IMG_0472 could take our order and they could bring the puzzle pages IMG_0473 for the boys to distract them from the specials IMG_0474 and from any worry about my Blair Witch self-portrait IMG_0475 as Suzanne IMG_0476 watched. Imagine our surprise when the ultimate frisbee team came in IMG_0477 lead by Juji.

Suzanne's salad IMG_0478 Nathaniel's pizza IMG_0479 Fred's burger (Jane had the same thing) IMG_0480 Ben's grilled cheese IMG_0481 and my pancakes (buttermilk, of course) IMG_0482 made it eating time. I showed Jane how I was progressing IMG_0483 and she did the same IMG_0484 for me as did Fred IMG_0485 IMG_0486 before we decided to depart.

We took a picture of Jane and Fred at the movies (where they went a few hours later) IMG_0487 and then went to CVS to look for pomade IMG_0488 IMG_0489 as Jane IMG_0490 displayed her purchases IMG_0491 IMG_0492 before we got the finger nail extenders. Our next stop was Sam Goody's IMG_0493 where the cashier would not allow us to take her picture so I took this group photo IMG_0494 instead.

Back at home, the boys assembled IMG_0495 and took a group picture IMG_0496 before heading to Joel's birthday party. Jane modeled her nails IMG_0497 IMG_0498 IMG_0499 as the boys cleared the car IMG_0500 while Nathaniel's car seat IMG_0501 watched and a war broke out IMG_0502 IMG_0503 all in the name of celebrating a beautiful day of much snow and no school.
