Pictures of 12.16.02 -- A day with Dr Len

It was the day after classes ended and so time to go look in on someone else's life. First I noted the distribution of Sovereign pennies from the 1970's ../../../Sabbat/12.16.02ADayWithDrLen//IMG_0656 in front of the histogram (wheat sheaf period) ../../../Sabbat/12.16.02ADayWithDrLen//IMG_0657 and post wheat sheaf period ../../../Sabbat/12.16.02ADayWithDrLen//IMG_0658 which made it time to get into the car.
On the other end, Dr. Len ../../../Sabbat/12.16.02ADayWithDrLen//IMG_0659 welcomed me and we put my car into his garage ../../../Sabbat/12.16.02ADayWithDrLen//IMG_0660 and headed to the drug store ../../../Sabbat/12.16.02ADayWithDrLen//IMG_0661 so he could stock up on meds for his trip.
Next we drove out to the suburbs where this sign worked ../../../Sabbat/12.16.02ADayWithDrLen//IMG_0662 but this one ../../../Sabbat/12.16.02ADayWithDrLen//IMG_0663 didn't. So, Len had to get the tool box ../../../Sabbat/12.16.02ADayWithDrLen//IMG_0664 and do some removal ../../../Sabbat/12.16.02ADayWithDrLen//IMG_0665 and adjustment ../../../Sabbat/12.16.02ADayWithDrLen//IMG_0666 and rewiring ../../../Sabbat/12.16.02ADayWithDrLen//IMG_0667 as the penguins watched ../../../Sabbat/12.16.02ADayWithDrLen//IMG_0668 until he had a sign ../../../Sabbat/12.16.02ADayWithDrLen//IMG_0669 like this ../../../Sabbat/12.16.02ADayWithDrLen//IMG_0670 missing a letter ../../../Sabbat/12.16.02ADayWithDrLen//IMG_0671 that could be wired ../../../Sabbat/12.16.02ADayWithDrLen//IMG_0672 ../../../Sabbat/12.16.02ADayWithDrLen//IMG_0673 to work ../../../Sabbat/12.16.02ADayWithDrLen//IMG_0674 except for the missing letter. In the spirit of the holidays ../../../Sabbat/12.16.02ADayWithDrLen//IMG_0675 the manager ../../../Sabbat/12.16.02ADayWithDrLen//IMG_0676 thanked us and we were off to lunch.
The old diner ../../../Sabbat/12.16.02ADayWithDrLen//IMG_0677 had a porcelain enamel sign ../../../Sabbat/12.16.02ADayWithDrLen//IMG_0678 and a menu ../../../Sabbat/12.16.02ADayWithDrLen//IMG_0679 that was best photographed ../../../Sabbat/12.16.02ADayWithDrLen//IMG_0680 sans flash as the cover ../../../Sabbat/12.16.02ADayWithDrLen//IMG_0681 should have told me. The diner looked good ../../../Sabbat/12.16.02ADayWithDrLen//IMG_0682 but the muffins ../../../Sabbat/12.16.02ADayWithDrLen//IMG_0683 were a little more questionable though I wanted to have some milk ../../../Sabbat/12.16.02ADayWithDrLen//IMG_0684 from here. Dr Len dug into his chili ../../../Sabbat/12.16.02ADayWithDrLen//IMG_0685 so fast that I could only record the crackers ../../../Sabbat/12.16.02ADayWithDrLen//IMG_0686 that didn't get eaten and the pancakes ../../../Sabbat/12.16.02ADayWithDrLen//IMG_0687 as they were buttered. My eggs and potatoes ../../../Sabbat/12.16.02ADayWithDrLen//IMG_0688 came with toast ../../../Sabbat/12.16.02ADayWithDrLen//IMG_0689 and when the tabasco ../../../Sabbat/12.16.02ADayWithDrLen//IMG_0690 was brought by the waitress ../../../Sabbat/12.16.02ADayWithDrLen//IMG_0691 things started to look much better. After mincemeat pie (never again!) ../../../Sabbat/12.16.02ADayWithDrLen//IMG_0692 and rice pudding ../../../Sabbat/12.16.02ADayWithDrLen//IMG_0693 we were ready to pay the bill ../../../Sabbat/12.16.02ADayWithDrLen//IMG_0694 and check out the facilities where we saw one of these ../../../Sabbat/12.16.02ADayWithDrLen//IMG_0695 adorning the wall ../../../Sabbat/12.16.02ADayWithDrLen//IMG_0696 as a throwback to olden times.
Our next stop was the post office in Paoli ../../../Sabbat/12.16.02ADayWithDrLen//IMG_0697 where the crowds gathered ../../../Sabbat/12.16.02ADayWithDrLen//IMG_0698 and we tried to install the stamps ../../../Sabbat/12.16.02ADayWithDrLen//IMG_0699 into the case ../../../Sabbat/12.16.02ADayWithDrLen//IMG_0700 to get a smooth roll ../../../Sabbat/12.16.02ADayWithDrLen//IMG_0701 even though ../../../Sabbat/12.16.02ADayWithDrLen//IMG_0702 this seemed not possible, so we had to settle for this ../../../Sabbat/12.16.02ADayWithDrLen//IMG_0703 and wonder if the postal service was balancing its budget by selling defective goods to unsuspecting consumers.
Next it was off to the tube bender's shed ../../../Sabbat/12.16.02ADayWithDrLen//IMG_0704 where the door opened ../../../Sabbat/12.16.02ADayWithDrLen//IMG_0705 to let Dr Len enter ../../../Sabbat/12.16.02ADayWithDrLen//IMG_0706 despite warning signs ../../../Sabbat/12.16.02ADayWithDrLen//IMG_0707 about security.
Time ../../../Sabbat/12.16.02ADayWithDrLen//IMG_0708 was passing so we headed for the country where the Roskamp house ../../../Sabbat/12.16.02ADayWithDrLen//IMG_0709 seemed to be borrowed from Thomas Mill ../../../Sabbat/12.16.02ADayWithDrLen//IMG_0710 ../../../Sabbat/12.16.02ADayWithDrLen//IMG_0711 and across from a covered bridge ../../../Sabbat/12.16.02ADayWithDrLen//IMG_0712 of detailed history ../../../Sabbat/12.16.02ADayWithDrLen//IMG_0713 which was impressive from afar ../../../Sabbat/12.16.02ADayWithDrLen//IMG_0714 but a little worn ../../../Sabbat/12.16.02ADayWithDrLen//IMG_0715 ../../../Sabbat/12.16.02ADayWithDrLen//IMG_0716 from up close. As we began our journey home, we stopped at this bank ../../../Sabbat/12.16.02ADayWithDrLen//IMG_0717 to get the next pennies. Next we saw the train store ../../../Sabbat/12.16.02ADayWithDrLen//IMG_0718 ../../../Sabbat/12.16.02ADayWithDrLen//IMG_0719 and decided to go in ../../../Sabbat/12.16.02ADayWithDrLen//IMG_0720 after paying homage to the nutcracker ../../../Sabbat/12.16.02ADayWithDrLen//IMG_0721 and recording the address ../../../Sabbat/12.16.02ADayWithDrLen//IMG_0722 for future reference. The train exhibits inside ../../../Sabbat/12.16.02ADayWithDrLen//IMG_0723 ../../../Sabbat/12.16.02ADayWithDrLen//IMG_0724 ../../../Sabbat/12.16.02ADayWithDrLen//IMG_0725 ../../../Sabbat/12.16.02ADayWithDrLen//IMG_0726 ../../../Sabbat/12.16.02ADayWithDrLen//IMG_0727 were very impressive. Along the way back, we saw this truck ../../../Sabbat/12.16.02ADayWithDrLen//IMG_0728 with the infamous ( A Man & His Truck -- It's a beautiful thing) ../../../Sabbat/12.16.02ADayWithDrLen//IMG_0729 bumper sticker as we made our way through Upper Darby ../../../Sabbat/12.16.02ADayWithDrLen//IMG_0730 ../../../Sabbat/12.16.02ADayWithDrLen//IMG_0731 and caught a beautiful view of the city in the distance ../../../Sabbat/12.16.02ADayWithDrLen//IMG_0732 as we recorded the price of gas ../../../Sabbat/12.16.02ADayWithDrLen//IMG_0733 much as it is in New Jersey. This bar ../../../Sabbat/12.16.02ADayWithDrLen//IMG_0734 displayed its soldiers well ../../../Sabbat/12.16.02ADayWithDrLen//IMG_0735 ../../../Sabbat/12.16.02ADayWithDrLen//IMG_0736 as we assured that the pennies ../../../Sabbat/12.16.02ADayWithDrLen//IMG_0737 were still there so that we could determine if the mint mark distribution changes close to the mint. After paying homage to Sam Adams beer ../../../Sabbat/12.16.02ADayWithDrLen//IMG_0738 we tried to get day time pictures of Dr Len's neon sign ../../../Sabbat/12.16.02ADayWithDrLen//IMG_0739 ../../../Sabbat/12.16.02ADayWithDrLen//IMG_0740 ../../../Sabbat/12.16.02ADayWithDrLen//IMG_0741 ../../../Sabbat/12.16.02ADayWithDrLen//IMG_0742 ../../../Sabbat/12.16.02ADayWithDrLen//IMG_0743 with questionable results.
Our last stop was at his house. The Sherwin Williams sign ../../../Sabbat/12.16.02ADayWithDrLen//IMG_0744 ../../../Sabbat/12.16.02ADayWithDrLen//IMG_0745 was in process as were the others ../../../Sabbat/12.16.02ADayWithDrLen//IMG_0746 ../../../Sabbat/12.16.02ADayWithDrLen//IMG_0747 but some work was done installing rivets ../../../Sabbat/12.16.02ADayWithDrLen//IMG_0748 and screwing them in ../../../Sabbat/12.16.02ADayWithDrLen//IMG_0749 before we began Dr Len's penny histogram ../../../Sabbat/12.16.02ADayWithDrLen//IMG_0750 and took these pictures ../../../Sabbat/12.16.02ADayWithDrLen//IMG_0751 ../../../Sabbat/12.16.02ADayWithDrLen//IMG_0752 ../../../Sabbat/12.16.02ADayWithDrLen//IMG_0753 ../../../Sabbat/12.16.02ADayWithDrLen//IMG_0754 from ever increasing distances. I hear that the histogram didn't last through the night but choose not to believe such sad tales.
