Pictures of 07.24.00 -- A Day in Madrid

So here we were in Madrid. We hooked up with Jacobo and created an Old Madrid tour of the city. It was Old Madrid in the sense that it encompassed places that were relevant to Jacobo and places that were relevant to us when we were here in 1983. Since we're all getting old and this is Madrid, this constituted a real Old Madrid tour. Next we went into this religious memorabilia store ../../../Sabbat/Pics/07.24.00Madrid//P7240003 to get a special souvenir for David ../../../Sabbat/Pics/07.24.00Madrid//P7240037 Then we passed through these turnstiles ../../../Sabbat/Pics/07.24.00Madrid//P7240004 and passed through this tunnel ../../../Sabbat/Pics/07.24.00Madrid//P7240005 to wait on this platform ../../../Sabbat/Pics/07.24.00Madrid//P7240006 and get onto the subway (aka Metro) ../../../Sabbat/Pics/07.24.00Madrid//P7240008 ../../../Sabbat/Pics/07.24.00Madrid//P7240009 in this direction ../../../Sabbat/Pics/07.24.00Madrid//P7240007 Our next stop was number 24 ../../../Sabbat/Pics/07.24.00Madrid//P7240010 the house where Jacobo was born and down the street to the shop ../../../Sabbat/Pics/07.24.00Madrid//P7240011 ../../../Sabbat/Pics/07.24.00Madrid//P7240012 that Naco and Paco run and on further to the school (K-12) ../../../Sabbat/Pics/07.24.00Madrid//P7240013 ../../../Sabbat/Pics/07.24.00Madrid//P7240014 that Jacobo attended. Along the way, we took the obligatory phone booth picture ../../../Sabbat/Pics/07.24.00Madrid//P7240015 though Jacobo was actually using the phone in this booth. Then it was on to the Café Nebraska ../../../Sabbat/Pics/07.24.00Madrid//P7240016 where Jacobo and Barbara spent their first date. She wasn't there, so we all ../../../Sabbat/Pics/07.24.00Madrid//P7240017 ../../../Sabbat/Pics/07.24.00Madrid//P7240018 ../../../Sabbat/Pics/07.24.00Madrid//P7240019 ../../../Sabbat/Pics/07.24.00Madrid//P7240020 ../../../Sabbat/Pics/07.24.00Madrid//P7240021 ../../../Sabbat/Pics/07.24.00Madrid//P7240022 were left to enjoy the place, take artistic pictures ../../../Sabbat/Pics/07.24.00Madrid//P7240023 and ponder the events of the past. Our final stop was at the store ../../../Sabbat/Pics/07.24.00Madrid//P7240024 that sells the purple liquid. We went in ../../../Sabbat/Pics/07.24.00Madrid//P7240025 quite happily but discovered that they were out of the green liquid. But it was all right because we got there their business card ../../../Sabbat/Pics/07.24.00Madrid//P7240028 in case we need some in the next 17 years. And, Jane was fortunate enough to get some Giorgio Armani pictures ../../../Sabbat/Pics/07.24.00Madrid//P7240026 ../../../Sabbat/Pics/07.24.00Madrid//P7240027 for her collection.
Our next stop was lunch. While we were waiting, a passing bird who had already eaten eliminated part of its lunch on David's arm ../../../Sabbat/Pics/07.24.00Madrid//P7240029 but thanks to some wipes, his arm ../../../Sabbat/Pics/07.24.00Madrid//P7240030 returned to its clean state. This guy ../../../Sabbat/Pics/07.24.00Madrid//P7240038 then served us this gazpacho ../../../Sabbat/Pics/07.24.00Madrid//P7240031 which made all of us ../../../Sabbat/Pics/07.24.00Madrid//P7240032 ../../../Sabbat/Pics/07.24.00Madrid//P7240033 ../../../Sabbat/Pics/07.24.00Madrid//P7240034 ../../../Sabbat/Pics/07.24.00Madrid//P7240035 ../../../Sabbat/Pics/07.24.00Madrid//P7240036 happy.
Next we set off for the museum. On the way back to the hotel, we took a picture of the symbol of Madrid ../../../Sabbat/Pics/07.24.00Madrid//P7240056 in the Plaza del Sol and recorded the km 0 marker ../../../Sabbat/Pics/07.24.00Madrid//P7240057 ../../../Sabbat/Pics/07.24.00Madrid//P7240058 of the Spanish road system.
