It was the last day before the new semester started, so I decided to drive to Philadelphia and get off the expressway at the parkway ../../../Sabbat/02.02.01ADaywithDrLen//P2020016 I drove through the light at Spring Garden Street ../../../Sabbat/02.02.01ADaywithDrLen//P2020017 and parked the car ../../../Sabbat/02.02.01ADaywithDrLen//P2020018 near Fairmount Avenue ../../../Sabbat/02.02.01ADaywithDrLen//P2020019 in sight of the prison ../../../Sabbat/02.02.01ADaywithDrLen//P2020020
I walked down to Mt. Vernon ../../../Sabbat/02.02.01ADaywithDrLen//P2020021 got to 2140 ../../../Sabbat/02.02.01ADaywithDrLen//P2020022 and knocked on the pig's nose ../../../Sabbat/02.02.01ADaywithDrLen//P2020023 until DrLen answered ../../../Sabbat/02.02.01ADaywithDrLen//P2020024 but he was still working ../../../Sabbat/02.02.01ADaywithDrLen//P2020025 and his computer was still on ../../../Sabbat/02.02.01ADaywithDrLen//P2020026
We quickly read a map ../../../Sabbat/02.02.01ADaywithDrLen//P2020027 and took the Ben Franklin Bridge ../../../Sabbat/02.02.01ADaywithDrLen//P2020028 ../../../Sabbat/02.02.01ADaywithDrLen//P2020029 to New Jersey.
Our first notable thing was this sign that the dentists provided ../../../Sabbat/02.02.01ADaywithDrLen//P2020030 ../../../Sabbat/02.02.01ADaywithDrLen//P2020031 we had to turn around here ../../../Sabbat/02.02.01ADaywithDrLen//P2020032 to find our way to Wacker's ../../../Sabbat/02.02.01ADaywithDrLen//P2020033 ../../../Sabbat/02.02.01ADaywithDrLen//P2020034 where there were some fine lamps.
Next we turned around after this house ../../../Sabbat/02.02.01ADaywithDrLen//P2020035 with DrLen steady on the wheel ../../../Sabbat/02.02.01ADaywithDrLen//P2020036 to go to the Den of Antiquity ../../../Sabbat/02.02.01ADaywithDrLen//P2020037 where this gentleman ../../../Sabbat/02.02.01ADaywithDrLen//P2020038 told us that despite the wonderful things in the window ../../../Sabbat/02.02.01ADaywithDrLen//P2020039 it was probably not open ../../../Sabbat/02.02.01ADaywithDrLen//P2020040
So we drove on through the fields ../../../Sabbat/02.02.01ADaywithDrLen//P2020041 and past the wildlife ../../../Sabbat/02.02.01ADaywithDrLen//P2020042 until we parked the car ../../../Sabbat/02.02.01ADaywithDrLen//P2020043 at the 54 Diner ../../../Sabbat/02.02.01ADaywithDrLen//P2020044 ../../../Sabbat/02.02.01ADaywithDrLen//P2020045 where DrLen ../../../Sabbat/02.02.01ADaywithDrLen//P2020046 carefully studied the menu ../../../Sabbat/02.02.01ADaywithDrLen//P2020047 and we heeded this all important sign ../../../Sabbat/02.02.01ADaywithDrLen//P2020048 My food was so good that I forgot to take a picture until it was gone ../../../Sabbat/02.02.01ADaywithDrLen//P2020049 The waitress was happy to have her picture be part of our record ../../../Sabbat/02.02.01ADaywithDrLen//P2020050 even though we interrupted an impassioned discussion of the tabloid article about what the people on Survivor do when they are off the screen.

Next we headed to Richland and observed the general store ../../../Sabbat/02.02.01ADaywithDrLen//P2020065 from in front of the post office ../../../Sabbat/02.02.01ADaywithDrLen//P2020066 before going behind the post office to the Antique Depot ../../../Sabbat/02.02.01ADaywithDrLen//P2020067
We still had another stop (or more) inside but when we next parked, we saw a wonderful painted truck parked nearby ../../../Sabbat/02.02.01ADaywithDrLen//P2020068 ../../../Sabbat/02.02.01ADaywithDrLen//P2020070 next to a propane tank ../../../Sabbat/02.02.01ADaywithDrLen//P2020069 with a fire engine off to the side ../../../Sabbat/02.02.01ADaywithDrLen//P2020071 DrLen had to use the cel phone to call Neil Benson ../../../Sabbat/02.02.01ADaywithDrLen//P2020072 to see if we should buy this typewriter ../../../Sabbat/02.02.01ADaywithDrLen//P2020074 from this lady. ../../../Sabbat/02.02.01ADaywithDrLen//P2020073 As always, the typewriter didn't look as good when we got to the parking lot ../../../Sabbat/02.02.01ADaywithDrLen//P2020075
Driving on, we came upon the Wall of Shame -- an unfortunate memorial to a man's son who was killed (with 2 of his friends) by a driver of an unlicensed garbage truck. ../../../Sabbat/02.02.01ADaywithDrLen//P2020076 We acknowledged the wrong doings of this large slate of people ../../../Sabbat/02.02.01ADaywithDrLen//P2020077 ../../../Sabbat/02.02.01ADaywithDrLen//P2020078 ../../../Sabbat/02.02.01ADaywithDrLen//P2020079 ../../../Sabbat/02.02.01ADaywithDrLen//P2020080 said our good byes ../../../Sabbat/02.02.01ADaywithDrLen//P2020081 and took some literature to read as we moved along to Vineland ../../../Sabbat/02.02.01ADaywithDrLen//P2020082 where the laundromat was closed ../../../Sabbat/02.02.01ADaywithDrLen//P2020083 but the toy store ../../../Sabbat/02.02.01ADaywithDrLen//P2020084 ../../../Sabbat/02.02.01ADaywithDrLen//P2020085 ../../../Sabbat/02.02.01ADaywithDrLen//P2020086 looked open, so we parked the car and took the obligatory phone booth pictures ../../../Sabbat/02.02.01ADaywithDrLen//P2020087 ../../../Sabbat/02.02.01ADaywithDrLen//P2020088 only to discover that the owner ../../../Sabbat/02.02.01ADaywithDrLen//P2020089 was too busy doing day trading to talk to us.

We stopped here for custard ../../../Sabbat/02.02.01ADaywithDrLen//P2020094 but they don't sell it int he winter, sow e had to settle for this ../../../Sabbat/02.02.01ADaywithDrLen//P2020095 and then get some gas for the trip home ../../../Sabbat/02.02.01ADaywithDrLen//P2020096 I left my mark in DrLen's car. ../../../Sabbat/02.02.01ADaywithDrLen//P2020097 Hopefully, it will fade well over time to remind us of this day in the country.
