Pictures of 01.23.05 -- Some people, then the snow

On Sunday January 23, we awoke to lots (15" worth) of snow on the driveway and so the shoveling began. The Hutner-Flemmer's ../../../Sabbat/2005/01.18-23.05PeopleSnow//IMG_1067 were sledding down the street as we observed our sidewalk ../../../Sabbat/2005/01.18-23.05PeopleSnow//IMG_1068 and the Odyssey ../../../Sabbat/2005/01.18-23.05PeopleSnow//IMG_1069 ../../../Sabbat/2005/01.18-23.05PeopleSnow//IMG_1070 that looked like it would never be cleared. Ben ../../../Sabbat/2005/01.18-23.05PeopleSnow//IMG_1071 admired the house ../../../Sabbat/2005/01.18-23.05PeopleSnow//IMG_1072 as the sledders ../../../Sabbat/2005/01.18-23.05PeopleSnow//IMG_1073 ../../../Sabbat/2005/01.18-23.05PeopleSnow//IMG_1074 returned and we continued our walk to town. Stockton Street ../../../Sabbat/2005/01.18-23.05PeopleSnow//IMG_1075 was quite something as I walked behind Ben and Sarah ../../../Sabbat/2005/01.18-23.05PeopleSnow//IMG_1076 ../../../Sabbat/2005/01.18-23.05PeopleSnow//IMG_1077 ../../../Sabbat/2005/01.18-23.05PeopleSnow//IMG_1078 as we made our way past this water valve ../../../Sabbat/2005/01.18-23.05PeopleSnow//IMG_1079 at the seminary ../../../Sabbat/2005/01.18-23.05PeopleSnow//IMG_1080 and this tree ../../../Sabbat/2005/01.18-23.05PeopleSnow//IMG_1081 and the house that couldn't be approached ../../../Sabbat/2005/01.18-23.05PeopleSnow//IMG_1082 and the gate ../../../Sabbat/2005/01.18-23.05PeopleSnow//IMG_1083 that couldn't be opened as the snow was all over ../../../Sabbat/2005/01.18-23.05PeopleSnow//IMG_1084 everything. Morven ../../../Sabbat/2005/01.18-23.05PeopleSnow//IMG_1085 wasn't plowed but its neighbor was ../../../Sabbat/2005/01.18-23.05PeopleSnow//IMG_1086 and as we walked the path ../../../Sabbat/2005/01.18-23.05PeopleSnow//IMG_1087 we knew that this car ../../../Sabbat/2005/01.18-23.05PeopleSnow//IMG_1088 ../../../Sabbat/2005/01.18-23.05PeopleSnow//IMG_1089 would have a hard time getting out. Next we made our way onto Nassau Street ../../../Sabbat/2005/01.18-23.05PeopleSnow//IMG_1090 ../../../Sabbat/2005/01.18-23.05PeopleSnow//IMG_1091 ../../../Sabbat/2005/01.18-23.05PeopleSnow//IMG_1092 and past the newspaper stands ../../../Sabbat/2005/01.18-23.05PeopleSnow//IMG_1093 when a car went by ../../../Sabbat/2005/01.18-23.05PeopleSnow//IMG_1094 and we dug in to find the Kramer's brick ../../../Sabbat/2005/01.18-23.05PeopleSnow//IMG_1095 on our first try. On Witherspoon Street we watched this plow ../../../Sabbat/2005/01.18-23.05PeopleSnow//IMG_1096 work its way in ../../../Sabbat/2005/01.18-23.05PeopleSnow//IMG_1097 to the curb ../../../Sabbat/2005/01.18-23.05PeopleSnow//IMG_1098 as Ben discovered this ice rock ../../../Sabbat/2005/01.18-23.05PeopleSnow//IMG_1099 and SUbway was closed ../../../Sabbat/2005/01.18-23.05PeopleSnow//IMG_1100 and the bread at The Ferry House ../../../Sabbat/2005/01.18-23.05PeopleSnow//IMG_1101 looked like it would have a wait. Spring Street ../../../Sabbat/2005/01.18-23.05PeopleSnow//IMG_1102 was desserted as Sarah made her way ../../../Sabbat/2005/01.18-23.05PeopleSnow//IMG_1103 to the plowed mountain ../../../Sabbat/2005/01.18-23.05PeopleSnow//IMG_1104 and posed at half its height ../../../Sabbat/2005/01.18-23.05PeopleSnow//IMG_1105 as Hulfish Street ../../../Sabbat/2005/01.18-23.05PeopleSnow//IMG_1106 ../../../Sabbat/2005/01.18-23.05PeopleSnow//IMG_1107 had its own mountains ../../../Sabbat/2005/01.18-23.05PeopleSnow//IMG_1108 to climb. All of this called for a good meal. Ben ../../../Sabbat/2005/01.18-23.05PeopleSnow//IMG_1109 ../../../Sabbat/2005/01.18-23.05PeopleSnow//IMG_1110 ../../../Sabbat/2005/01.18-23.05PeopleSnow//IMG_1111 ../../../Sabbat/2005/01.18-23.05PeopleSnow//IMG_1112 settled in at Zorba's Brother's as I got this collection sign ../../../Sabbat/2005/01.18-23.05PeopleSnow//IMG_1113 and hot chocolate and decaf ../../../Sabbat/2005/01.18-23.05PeopleSnow//IMG_1114 arrived with cream ../../../Sabbat/2005/01.18-23.05PeopleSnow//IMG_1115 which didn't photograph well. This inspired Sarah to take a few pictures ../../../Sabbat/2005/01.18-23.05PeopleSnow//IMG_1116 ../../../Sabbat/2005/01.18-23.05PeopleSnow//IMG_1117 before expanding the lens and using white balance to improve on what I had done ../../../Sabbat/2005/01.18-23.05PeopleSnow//IMG_1118 ../../../Sabbat/2005/01.18-23.05PeopleSnow//IMG_1119 ../../../Sabbat/2005/01.18-23.05PeopleSnow//IMG_1120 and even to tweak the settings ../../../Sabbat/2005/01.18-23.05PeopleSnow//IMG_1121 to make the cream greenish. After Ben finished studying the menu ../../../Sabbat/2005/01.18-23.05PeopleSnow//IMG_1122 I got my veggie burger ../../../Sabbat/2005/01.18-23.05PeopleSnow//IMG_1123 he got his burger ../../../Sabbat/2005/01.18-23.05PeopleSnow//IMG_1124 and Sarah got her chicken sandwich ../../../Sabbat/2005/01.18-23.05PeopleSnow//IMG_1125 all of which fortified us for the walk home. En route, we crossed the street ../../../Sabbat/2005/01.18-23.05PeopleSnow//IMG_1126 and stopped among the crowds ../../../Sabbat/2005/01.18-23.05PeopleSnow//IMG_1127 who wanted a picture ../../../Sabbat/2005/01.18-23.05PeopleSnow//IMG_1128 of Nassau Hall though few of them captured this buried piece of equipment ../../../Sabbat/2005/01.18-23.05PeopleSnow//IMG_1129 or this newspaper stand ../../../Sabbat/2005/01.18-23.05PeopleSnow//IMG_1130 under the snow.
