The next day Suzanne ../../../Sabbat/2004/01.07-13.04WillisVieques//IMG_0073 was ready bright and early as I had my toast ../../../Sabbat/2004/01.07-13.04WillisVieques//IMG_0074 and fruit ../../../Sabbat/2004/01.07-13.04WillisVieques//IMG_0075 on this lovely plate ../../../Sabbat/2004/01.07-13.04WillisVieques//IMG_0076 and then finished hers ../../../Sabbat/2004/01.07-13.04WillisVieques//IMG_0077 and waited for Peter and Seva ../../../Sabbat/2004/01.07-13.04WillisVieques//IMG_0078 to come through the brush with their suitcases ../../../Sabbat/2004/01.07-13.04WillisVieques//IMG_0079 to store in our room ../../../Sabbat/2004/01.07-13.04WillisVieques//IMG_0080 as we left the inn ../../../Sabbat/2004/01.07-13.04WillisVieques//IMG_0081 to head towards the beach ../../../Sabbat/2004/01.07-13.04WillisVieques//IMG_0082 where we saw these horses ../../../Sabbat/2004/01.07-13.04WillisVieques//IMG_0083 who greeted us ../../../Sabbat/2004/01.07-13.04WillisVieques//IMG_0084 as our first site before these traditional Caribbean scenes ../../../Sabbat/2004/01.07-13.04WillisVieques//IMG_0085 ../../../Sabbat/2004/01.07-13.04WillisVieques//IMG_0086 ../../../Sabbat/2004/01.07-13.04WillisVieques//IMG_0087 as we unloaded the car ../../../Sabbat/2004/01.07-13.04WillisVieques//IMG_0088 and headed to the beach ../../../Sabbat/2004/01.07-13.04WillisVieques//IMG_0089 stopping to admire the fallen coconut ../../../Sabbat/2004/01.07-13.04WillisVieques//IMG_0090 and wonder if it contained any milk. Sun Beach ../../../Sabbat/2004/01.07-13.04WillisVieques//IMG_0091 ../../../Sabbat/2004/01.07-13.04WillisVieques//IMG_0092 was elegant with light waves ../../../Sabbat/2004/01.07-13.04WillisVieques//IMG_0093 as we set up ../../../Sabbat/2004/01.07-13.04WillisVieques//IMG_0094 and admired the scene ../../../Sabbat/2004/01.07-13.04WillisVieques//IMG_0095 and enjoyed the water before some rain came and we decided to drive on further.
We next entered the nature preserve ../../../Sabbat/2004/01.07-13.04WillisVieques//IMG_0096 and drove on the bumpy roads ../../../Sabbat/2004/01.07-13.04WillisVieques//IMG_0097 often seeing scenery like this ../../../Sabbat/2004/01.07-13.04WillisVieques//IMG_0098 before we headed to the beach ../../../Sabbat/2004/01.07-13.04WillisVieques//IMG_0099 at the point ../../../Sabbat/2004/01.07-13.04WillisVieques//IMG_0100 and started to explore ../../../Sabbat/2004/01.07-13.04WillisVieques//IMG_0101 to see what rocks ../../../Sabbat/2004/01.07-13.04WillisVieques//IMG_0102 might be good for climbing by Peter ../../../Sabbat/2004/01.07-13.04WillisVieques//IMG_0103 ../../../Sabbat/2004/01.07-13.04WillisVieques//IMG_0104 or might give good views ../../../Sabbat/2004/01.07-13.04WillisVieques//IMG_0105 or might be good for Seva ../../../Sabbat/2004/01.07-13.04WillisVieques//IMG_0106 to collect shells and look for sea glass while David ../../../Sabbat/2004/01.07-13.04WillisVieques//IMG_0107 ../../../Sabbat/2004/01.07-13.04WillisVieques//IMG_0108 undoubtedly described the fish that got away. Meanwhile, our collection of artifacts ../../../Sabbat/2004/01.07-13.04WillisVieques//IMG_0109 ../../../Sabbat/2004/01.07-13.04WillisVieques//IMG_0110 was growing as Suzanne ../../../Sabbat/2004/01.07-13.04WillisVieques//IMG_0111 and Peter and Seva ../../../Sabbat/2004/01.07-13.04WillisVieques//IMG_0112 continued the search amid the rough seas ../../../Sabbat/2004/01.07-13.04WillisVieques//IMG_0113 which had brought the shells through which Suzanne sifted ../../../Sabbat/2004/01.07-13.04WillisVieques//IMG_0114 and of which Seva was choosing the very best ../../../Sabbat/2004/01.07-13.04WillisVieques//IMG_0115 including this sea glass ../../../Sabbat/2004/01.07-13.04WillisVieques//IMG_0116 as we did one last gather ../../../Sabbat/2004/01.07-13.04WillisVieques//IMG_0117 put our treasure in the hat ../../../Sabbat/2004/01.07-13.04WillisVieques//IMG_0118 and began the trek ../../../Sabbat/2004/01.07-13.04WillisVieques//IMG_0119 back to the car ../../../Sabbat/2004/01.07-13.04WillisVieques//IMG_0120 to head down this road ../../../Sabbat/2004/01.07-13.04WillisVieques//IMG_0121 and continue the exploration along the bumpy road ../../../Sabbat/2004/01.07-13.04WillisVieques//IMG_0122 ../../../Sabbat/2004/01.07-13.04WillisVieques//IMG_0123 ../../../Sabbat/2004/01.07-13.04WillisVieques//IMG_0124 until we found this hut at Blue Beach ../../../Sabbat/2004/01.07-13.04WillisVieques//IMG_0125 and headed to the beach ../../../Sabbat/2004/01.07-13.04WillisVieques//IMG_0126 after being sure that the bushes ../../../Sabbat/2004/01.07-13.04WillisVieques//IMG_0127 were free of bandidos and the water ../../../Sabbat/2004/01.07-13.04WillisVieques//IMG_0128 was clear.
But, before we could end the day, we needed to find the very elusive Orchid Beach. After a number of wrong turns, we finally found the left fork that came before the last right turn and were rewarded with this great water scene ../../../Sabbat/2004/01.07-13.04WillisVieques//IMG_0129 that amused Peter ../../../Sabbat/2004/01.07-13.04WillisVieques//IMG_0130 and Suzanne ../../../Sabbat/2004/01.07-13.04WillisVieques//IMG_0131 as I marched out to sea. After various hand signals failed to orchestrate what could only be called a great possibility, I was waved in ../../../Sabbat/2004/01.07-13.04WillisVieques//IMG_0132 and slowly ../../../Sabbat/2004/01.07-13.04WillisVieques//IMG_0133 made my way ../../../Sabbat/2004/01.07-13.04WillisVieques//IMG_0134 back into the fold where this conch shell ../../../Sabbat/2004/01.07-13.04WillisVieques//IMG_0135 and this guide sign ../../../Sabbat/2004/01.07-13.04WillisVieques//IMG_0136 suggested that we had to head to this store in town ../../../Sabbat/2004/01.07-13.04WillisVieques//IMG_0137 where I could be fitted for these shoes ../../../Sabbat/2004/01.07-13.04WillisVieques//IMG_0138 by this gentleman ../../../Sabbat/2004/01.07-13.04WillisVieques//IMG_0139 and then pay these women ../../../Sabbat/2004/01.07-13.04WillisVieques//IMG_0140 who had just gotten decoder rings that let them take this picture ../../../Sabbat/2004/01.07-13.04WillisVieques//IMG_0141 so that I'd always remember where my Teva's came from. Peter and Seva ../../../Sabbat/2004/01.07-13.04WillisVieques//IMG_0142 brought us the car keys and we stopped at this Esso station ../../../Sabbat/2004/01.07-13.04WillisVieques//IMG_0143 en route to see Tom Wright where surprisingly we took no pictures.
Dinner that night involved these beverages ../../../Sabbat/2004/01.07-13.04WillisVieques//IMG_0144 which looked better without the flash ../../../Sabbat/2004/01.07-13.04WillisVieques//IMG_0145 as my salad and potato ../../../Sabbat/2004/01.07-13.04WillisVieques//IMG_0146 and Seva's BLT ../../../Sabbat/2004/01.07-13.04WillisVieques//IMG_0147 and the shared salad ../../../Sabbat/2004/01.07-13.04WillisVieques//IMG_0148 were drowned out by the cheers from the football fans. I did manage to take the obligatory phone booth picture ../../../Sabbat/2004/01.07-13.04WillisVieques//IMG_0149 even as Peter took the obligatory banana picture ../../../Sabbat/2004/01.07-13.04WillisVieques//IMG_0150 so that we could end the day on the right tone.
