I noticed that the amaryllis ../../../Sabbat/2004/01.07-13.04WillisVieques//IMG_0002 ../../../Sabbat/2004/01.07-13.04WillisVieques//IMG_0003 in our kitchen was doing well, so it was time to go to the airport with Suzanne, Peter and Seva ../../../Sabbat/2004/01.07-13.04WillisVieques//IMG_0004 and check our bags ../../../Sabbat/2004/01.07-13.04WillisVieques//IMG_0005 so that we could head to Krispy Kreme ../../../Sabbat/2004/01.07-13.04WillisVieques//IMG_0006 which made Peter ../../../Sabbat/2004/01.07-13.04WillisVieques//IMG_0007 and Seva and Suzanne ../../../Sabbat/2004/01.07-13.04WillisVieques//IMG_0008 ../../../Sabbat/2004/01.07-13.04WillisVieques//IMG_0009 quite happy, maybe because they knew that this would be their meal ../../../Sabbat/2004/01.07-13.04WillisVieques//IMG_0010 and this would be mine ../../../Sabbat/2004/01.07-13.04WillisVieques//IMG_0011 the remains of which ../../../Sabbat/2004/01.07-13.04WillisVieques//IMG_0012 were left for that strange person who would prefer a bagel at 40 degrees to a Krispy Kreme donut a few hours from fresh.
Before we knew it, the plane had landed and Suzanne ../../../Sabbat/2004/01.07-13.04WillisVieques//IMG_0013 and Seva ../../../Sabbat/2004/01.07-13.04WillisVieques//IMG_0014 were looking for our baggage while Peter ../../../Sabbat/2004/01.07-13.04WillisVieques//IMG_0015 was looking for his voice mail because he'd already found the taxi that would take us past Roberto Clemente stadium ../../../Sabbat/2004/01.07-13.04WillisVieques//IMG_0016 and through traffic ../../../Sabbat/2004/01.07-13.04WillisVieques//IMG_0017 until the driver could pose with Peter in Fajardo ../../../Sabbat/2004/01.07-13.04WillisVieques//IMG_0018 where we would eventually catch the ferry. Peter spoke with this policeman ../../../Sabbat/2004/01.07-13.04WillisVieques//IMG_0019 and then we got closer to their conversation ../../../Sabbat/2004/01.07-13.04WillisVieques//IMG_0020 and thought about some helados ../../../Sabbat/2004/01.07-13.04WillisVieques//IMG_0021 while Suzanne ../../../Sabbat/2004/01.07-13.04WillisVieques//IMG_0022 surveyed the boats and we wondered what to do with our baggage ../../../Sabbat/2004/01.07-13.04WillisVieques//IMG_0023 while recording the obligatory phone booth picture ../../../Sabbat/2004/01.07-13.04WillisVieques//IMG_0024 and heading down the street to look into the windows ../../../Sabbat/2004/01.07-13.04WillisVieques//IMG_0025 of Jimmy's ../../../Sabbat/2004/01.07-13.04WillisVieques//IMG_0026 which was unfortunately closed (for good?) so we brought our bags ../../../Sabbat/2004/01.07-13.04WillisVieques//IMG_0027 back to the local cantina at the Hotel Delicioso where Suzanne ../../../Sabbat/2004/01.07-13.04WillisVieques//IMG_0028 Peter ../../../Sabbat/2004/01.07-13.04WillisVieques//IMG_0029 and Seva ../../../Sabbat/2004/01.07-13.04WillisVieques//IMG_0030 admired the table tiles ../../../Sabbat/2004/01.07-13.04WillisVieques//IMG_0031 as we watched the waitress ../../../Sabbat/2004/01.07-13.04WillisVieques//IMG_0032 make our food. Peter prepared ../../../Sabbat/2004/01.07-13.04WillisVieques//IMG_0033 to take a picture of me though the food ../../../Sabbat/2004/01.07-13.04WillisVieques//IMG_0034 ../../../Sabbat/2004/01.07-13.04WillisVieques//IMG_0035 looked much better. After our meal, Suzanne ../../../Sabbat/2004/01.07-13.04WillisVieques//IMG_0036 relaxed by the sea as I recorded the Customs House ../../../Sabbat/2004/01.07-13.04WillisVieques//IMG_0037 and these street signs ../../../Sabbat/2004/01.07-13.04WillisVieques//IMG_0038 along with a close-up of the Pare sign ../../../Sabbat/2004/01.07-13.04WillisVieques//IMG_0039 for someone's collection (I forgot who).
Once on board, Suzanne ../../../Sabbat/2004/01.07-13.04WillisVieques//IMG_0040 followed this wisdom ../../../Sabbat/2004/01.07-13.04WillisVieques//IMG_0041 as we pulled away from the shore ../../../Sabbat/2004/01.07-13.04WillisVieques//IMG_0042 which made her quite happy ../../../Sabbat/2004/01.07-13.04WillisVieques//IMG_0043 as Peter ../../../Sabbat/2004/01.07-13.04WillisVieques//IMG_0044 was on the lookout for cloud formations ../../../Sabbat/2004/01.07-13.04WillisVieques//IMG_0045 ../../../Sabbat/2004/01.07-13.04WillisVieques//IMG_0046 I could record as Suzanne ../../../Sabbat/2004/01.07-13.04WillisVieques//IMG_0047 phoned home and we watched the wake of the boat ../../../Sabbat/2004/01.07-13.04WillisVieques//IMG_0048 analyzing how best to water ski across the waves. The ferry ride proceeded ../../../Sabbat/2004/01.07-13.04WillisVieques//IMG_0049 until we started to see land ../../../Sabbat/2004/01.07-13.04WillisVieques//IMG_0050 which got closer ../../../Sabbat/2004/01.07-13.04WillisVieques//IMG_0051 and closer ../../../Sabbat/2004/01.07-13.04WillisVieques//IMG_0052 while Suzanne and Seva ../../../Sabbat/2004/01.07-13.04WillisVieques//IMG_0053 wondered how Peter ../../../Sabbat/2004/01.07-13.04WillisVieques//IMG_0054 would get our bags off when we hit the shore ../../../Sabbat/2004/01.07-13.04WillisVieques//IMG_0055 so that we could have the taxi experience which was too unique to even generate a single photograph. We will have to be contented with memories of how the driver knew where we would be staying regardless of what we told him and of the other passengers laughing at the radio program.
Once at our hotel, Suzanne led the tour of the main room ../../../Sabbat/2004/01.07-13.04WillisVieques//IMG_0056 and the bathroom ../../../Sabbat/2004/01.07-13.04WillisVieques//IMG_0057 with this signage ../../../Sabbat/2004/01.07-13.04WillisVieques//IMG_0058 ../../../Sabbat/2004/01.07-13.04WillisVieques//IMG_0059 before the Kramers returned ../../../Sabbat/2004/01.07-13.04WillisVieques//IMG_0060 and we headed to dinner with them ../../../Sabbat/2004/01.07-13.04WillisVieques//IMG_0061 and us ../../../Sabbat/2004/01.07-13.04WillisVieques//IMG_0062 admiring the candle ../../../Sabbat/2004/01.07-13.04WillisVieques//IMG_0063 as we had our first rum drinks ../../../Sabbat/2004/01.07-13.04WillisVieques//IMG_0064 and found good uses for the flowers ../../../Sabbat/2004/01.07-13.04WillisVieques//IMG_0065 ../../../Sabbat/2004/01.07-13.04WillisVieques//IMG_0066 they came with. The meal itself was quite good with salad ../../../Sabbat/2004/01.07-13.04WillisVieques//IMG_0067 that was not photogenic and Suzanne's fish, mushrooms and greens ../../../Sabbat/2004/01.07-13.04WillisVieques//IMG_0068 and Peter's shrimp ../../../Sabbat/2004/01.07-13.04WillisVieques//IMG_0069 before the dessert ../../../Sabbat/2004/01.07-13.04WillisVieques//IMG_0070 led us to try decorating the table flowers ../../../Sabbat/2004/01.07-13.04WillisVieques//IMG_0071 which may or may not have been real. We decided to claim the rental car ../../../Sabbat/2004/01.07-13.04WillisVieques//IMG_0072 and call it a day so that we'd be ready the next day to check out beaches.
