For dessert, the specialty was this swan dish ../../../Sabbat/01.04-05.02SanDiego//P1051420 that didn't taste nearly as good as it looked though some chose to have cookies ../../../Sabbat/01.04-05.02SanDiego//P1051421 instead.
After lunch, we repaired to their apartment where Rob ../../../Sabbat/01.04-05.02SanDiego//P1051422 Anne ../../../Sabbat/01.04-05.02SanDiego//P1051423 Dansyl ../../../Sabbat/01.04-05.02SanDiego//P1051424 ../../../Sabbat/01.04-05.02SanDiego//P1051425 and Irv ../../../Sabbat/01.04-05.02SanDiego//P1051426 posed for pictures and someone took this picture of Linda and me ../../../Sabbat/01.04-05.02SanDiego//P1051427 managing to capture us despite lighting problems. There was more food including this plate of fresh fruit ../../../Sabbat/01.04-05.02SanDiego//P1051428 and this plate of dried fruit. ../../../Sabbat/01.04-05.02SanDiego//P1051429 The cookies Linda had brought ../../../Sabbat/01.04-05.02SanDiego//P1051430 looked better once they were unwrapped ../../../Sabbat/01.04-05.02SanDiego//P1051431 but nothing could compete with the chocolates from Australia, ../../../Sabbat/01.04-05.02SanDiego//P1051432 ../../../Sabbat/01.04-05.02SanDiego//P1051433 not even the nuts and flakes ../../../Sabbat/01.04-05.02SanDiego//P1051434 the typically California fare. Despite all of the fingerprints, we decided to subdivide the Australian chocolate ../../../Sabbat/01.04-05.02SanDiego//P1051435 to make sure it tasted as good as it looked. It had a filling with a liqueur taste and a hint of cherry. And, as is always the case, pictures show a better taste than reality.
Despite the day of eating, we still had to have dinner. We observed that we hadn't been outside all day and so decided to walk to the Chinese restaurant around the corner and across the street. We started with Moo Shu vegetables ../../../Sabbat/01.04-05.02SanDiego//P1051443 which the waitress prepared at our table ../../../Sabbat/01.04-05.02SanDiego//P1051444 ../../../Sabbat/01.04-05.02SanDiego//P1051445 to yield this first one ../../../Sabbat/01.04-05.02SanDiego//P1051446 while Dan took another picture ../../../Sabbat/01.04-05.02SanDiego//P1051447 of her work to get the sauce and a different angle on the meal. The rest of the meal was the sizzling dish ../../../Sabbat/01.04-05.02SanDiego//P1051448 the specialty shrimp dish (that cost twice as much) ../../../Sabbat/01.04-05.02SanDiego//P1051449 General Ts'o chicken ../../../Sabbat/01.04-05.02SanDiego//P1051450 bean curd with excellent mushrooms ../../../Sabbat/01.04-05.02SanDiego//P1051451 and this accompanying hot sauce ../../../Sabbat/01.04-05.02SanDiego//P1051452 and two kinds of rice, fried ../../../Sabbat/01.04-05.02SanDiego//P1051453 and steamed. ../../../Sabbat/01.04-05.02SanDiego//P1051454 On the way back we recorded the flags on the apartment next door ../../../Sabbat/01.04-05.02SanDiego//P1051455 where the guy with the MS from Princeton lives and the name plate ../../../Sabbat/01.04-05.02SanDiego//P1051456 and mezzuzah ../../../Sabbat/01.04-05.02SanDiego//P1051457 on apartment 206. I was sad to get up the next morning and head to the airport for the next leg of the trip. It had been a very nice visit.
