A Day in Philadelphia

TravelPhiladelphia FriendsDavidson Suzanne decided to spend a few days in Pittsburgh, so we drove her to the airport in Philadelphia and left her ../../../Sabbat/2003/12.29.03ADayInPhilly//IMG_0285 to catch her flight. We then drove off to this meter ../../../Sabbat/2003/12.29.03ADayInPhilly//IMG_0286 where we parked the car ../../../Sabbat/2003/12.29.03ADayInPhilly//IMG_0287 checked the time ../../../Sabbat/2003/12.29.03ADayInPhilly//IMG_0288 and kept our goal ../../../Sabbat/2003/12.29.03ADayInPhilly//IMG_0289 in our sights as we marched ../../../Sabbat/2003/12.29.03ADayInPhilly//IMG_0290 past the dinosaurs ../../../Sabbat/2003/12.29.03ADayInPhilly//IMG_0291 to the front entrance ../../../Sabbat/2003/12.29.03ADayInPhilly//IMG_0292 where this lady ../../../Sabbat/2003/12.29.03ADayInPhilly//IMG_0293 was nice enough to sign us up as members.

Once inside, we measured our legs against the dinosaurs ../../../Sabbat/2003/12.29.03ADayInPhilly//IMG_0294 and explored a bit ../../../Sabbat/2003/12.29.03ADayInPhilly//IMG_0295 before they beckoned us ../../../Sabbat/2003/12.29.03ADayInPhilly//IMG_0296 first Ben and Jane ../../../Sabbat/2003/12.29.03ADayInPhilly//IMG_0297 ../../../Sabbat/2003/12.29.03ADayInPhilly//IMG_0298 ../../../Sabbat/2003/12.29.03ADayInPhilly//IMG_0299 then Sarah and David ../../../Sabbat/2003/12.29.03ADayInPhilly//IMG_0300 ../../../Sabbat/2003/12.29.03ADayInPhilly//IMG_0301 ../../../Sabbat/2003/12.29.03ADayInPhilly//IMG_0302 ../../../Sabbat/2003/12.29.03ADayInPhilly//IMG_0303 to come visit with them. At the infinite mirrors ../../../Sabbat/2003/12.29.03ADayInPhilly//IMG_0339 we were able to do some experiments with optics and then it was off to see the bug exhibit ../../../Sabbat/2003/12.29.03ADayInPhilly//IMG_0340 which had been our original destination. This millipede ../../../Sabbat/2003/12.29.03ADayInPhilly//IMG_0341 told his story ../../../Sabbat/2003/12.29.03ADayInPhilly//IMG_0342 and then David drew Aunt Agnes ../../../Sabbat/2003/12.29.03ADayInPhilly//IMG_0343 as Jane made her picture for Kaylen ../../../Sabbat/2003/12.29.03ADayInPhilly//IMG_0344 Sarah colored the red kneed tarantula ../../../Sabbat/2003/12.29.03ADayInPhilly//IMG_0345 we did our fossil rubbing ../../../Sabbat/2003/12.29.03ADayInPhilly//IMG_0346 and this picture ../../../Sabbat/2003/12.29.03ADayInPhilly//IMG_0347 led to the picture ../../../Sabbat/2003/12.29.03ADayInPhilly//IMG_0348 by the six year old. After taking this sign for the collection ../../../Sabbat/2003/12.29.03ADayInPhilly//IMG_0362 we went to visit the cigar store Indian ../../../Sabbat/2003/12.29.03ADayInPhilly//IMG_0363 on Passyunk Avenue ../../../Sabbat/2003/12.29.03ADayInPhilly//IMG_0364 before going in and buying a cigar ../../../Sabbat/2003/12.29.03ADayInPhilly//IMG_0365 from this gentleman and saying good bye to Marra's ../../../Sabbat/2003/12.29.03ADayInPhilly//IMG_0366 to head south and triple park ../../../Sabbat/2003/12.29.03ADayInPhilly//IMG_0367 at Polito's ../../../Sabbat/2003/12.29.03ADayInPhilly//IMG_0368 where the pastries ../../../Sabbat/2003/12.29.03ADayInPhilly//IMG_0369 looked good and this woman ../../../Sabbat/2003/12.29.03ADayInPhilly//IMG_0370 sold us our fair share of cookies and cheese cake (see below).

We drove north past Catharine Street ../../../Sabbat/2003/12.29.03ADayInPhilly//IMG_0371 to find DrLen and Judy ../../../Sabbat/2003/12.29.03ADayInPhilly//IMG_0372 returning from their trip to a floor full of mail ../../../Sabbat/2003/12.29.03ADayInPhilly//IMG_0373 and their new flat screened Sony high tech television ../../../Sabbat/2003/12.29.03ADayInPhilly//IMG_0374 that called out for cheesecake ../../../Sabbat/2003/12.29.03ADayInPhilly//IMG_0375 ../../../Sabbat/2003/12.29.03ADayInPhilly//IMG_0376 and cookies ../../../Sabbat/2003/12.29.03ADayInPhilly//IMG_0377 to be eaten.

All this activity made us wish for a walk in the park. We headed down the drive ../../../Sabbat/2003/12.29.03ADayInPhilly//IMG_0378 and saw these 2 people sitting on the hill ../../../Sabbat/2003/12.29.03ADayInPhilly//IMG_0379 behind the statue ../../../Sabbat/2003/12.29.03ADayInPhilly//IMG_0380 with the boat houses ../../../Sabbat/2003/12.29.03ADayInPhilly//IMG_0381 and the art museum ../../../Sabbat/2003/12.29.03ADayInPhilly//IMG_0382 in the background. The water buildings ../../../Sabbat/2003/12.29.03ADayInPhilly//IMG_0383 and bridges ../../../Sabbat/2003/12.29.03ADayInPhilly//IMG_0384 plus this fallen tree ../../../Sabbat/2003/12.29.03ADayInPhilly//IMG_0385 set the right backdrop ../../../Sabbat/2003/12.29.03ADayInPhilly//IMG_0386 for this group photo before we went to ask him ../../../Sabbat/2003/12.29.03ADayInPhilly//IMG_0387 about open floor times at the local gym.

All this activity meant that it was dinner time, so we followed the Davidson's ../../../Sabbat/2003/12.29.03ADayInPhilly//IMG_0388 to the Country Club ../../../Sabbat/2003/12.29.03ADayInPhilly//IMG_0389 where Ben ../../../Sabbat/2003/12.29.03ADayInPhilly//IMG_0390 made his weird face as we found our way to the table ../../../Sabbat/2003/12.29.03ADayInPhilly//IMG_0391 for the last Jane and Sarah picture ../../../Sabbat/2003/12.29.03ADayInPhilly//IMG_0392 as Ben ../../../Sabbat/2003/12.29.03ADayInPhilly//IMG_0393 and Lenny and Judy ../../../Sabbat/2003/12.29.03ADayInPhilly//IMG_0394 were ready for the food. Jane had the chicken soup ../../../Sabbat/2003/12.29.03ADayInPhilly//IMG_0395 Judy had the salad ../../../Sabbat/2003/12.29.03ADayInPhilly//IMG_0396 and after this roll ../../../Sabbat/2003/12.29.03ADayInPhilly//IMG_0397 DrLen's plate of Jewish dairy ../../../Sabbat/2003/12.29.03ADayInPhilly//IMG_0398 came with Ben's turkey burger ../../../Sabbat/2003/12.29.03ADayInPhilly//IMG_0399 and my garden burger ../../../Sabbat/2003/12.29.03ADayInPhilly//IMG_0400 so that we could eat and head back to the country.
