It was Fall Break week and so after talking to Austin Newton of Molecular Biology
I decided to head to the canal with Jane for a walk. We passed through this tunnel under route 27
and looked out at the trail ahead
until we got to the first informative board about Spillways
and next to mile marker 22 (which is pretty much the half way mark)
as we walked on past wonderous views and reflections (was sometimes hard to know which way was up)
and then observed this sign
as we made our way to Little Valley
and then back to the trail
and on to mile marker 21
and more information about the spillways
before we reached the Griggstown Lock, our goal for the day
and watched the water flow
and observed the warning signs
as we looked into the lock
and then began the trip back, bypassing the Silver Maple Trail
which looked good
but capturing the information about the locks
as Jane fixed her shoes
and demonstrated proper strides
and passed through Rocky Hill
but took a few tries before we could clarity on the story of how the canal was dug
but after another mile marker
and some inspirational words from Blake
we came to see mile marker 24 (north) or 20 south
from which we could see the end in sight and celebrate a great walk.
