It was the day of the race. We deviated from our course in 2004 and 2003 because the rains caused the course to be closed and so after taking morning pictures of Len
Suzanne
and Ben
and this self portrait,
Jane and I went to the curb and planted our team sign because the race was going to be here
complete with meatballs
and shrimp for the after race festivities
even as Ben played chess
and Suzanne prepared
and Len and Judy read the newspaper
we knew it was time to go to Hoagie Haven
where the men carried the 6 footers out to the car.
When we got home, Pete and Lisa had arrived
as had Sharon McKool and her children
Susan Glazer and Ernie Heilbrunn
OtherJane (Maggard) and Ben
Devon Wessman-Smerdon
Jan Woods
Kaylen and Adele Hagadorn
Adam Ash
Laura Spence-Ash
and a group of Jane's friends
as Judy and Susan chatted
as did Ernie and Dr Len
while Doris Shea arrived
Ed, Devon and Sarah ate apples
and John Shea appeared to have his picture taken
before I captured the picture of Emily Shea and her friend
Sarah with Juliana and Karen Fuchs
and Meredith with her neighbor
before all the Szabo's (including Elizabeth)
and all the Just
and Michelle Alperin and Steven Sheriff arrived
so that we could begin the team pictures
until we were interrupted when Kathy Klockenbrink arrived
though we could take more team pictures
until Seva Kramer arrived
and then there was a team picture with me in it should I wish to Photoshop the team
and finally Emily Gittleman
and Rich Gittleman arrived
and the walk began. As we began, I ran into Bob Mac Lennan
and also took this self portrait
before I rounded the corner and saw Josephine cheering on the team
and then completed the circuit and ran into Dr Len who recorded the order of finish.
Back at home, Adam, Rich and Tony are discussing the race
with Laura
while the Szabo parents and Elizabeth are relaxing
and Juliana is having a wrap.
Jan Kubik arrived late
as Kathy Klockenbrink held the serving plate
and the table of food
was amusing Jane's friends assembled there
as the Szabos engaged in conversation with Carolyn
and then Dr Len
as Dr Len discussed the winners
and Richard Just showed his pride
and claimed his prize
as the Davidson judges rested
and the remaining deviled eggs
caused Sarah, Seva and Carolyn
and then the Klockenbrinks to pose
before Emily Klockenbrink posed with Kathy.
Lucy, Fred and Jane seemed to be getting tired
though they came back to life
as the food supplies wore down
and Cara and Audrey Straus arrived
as did Joel Straus
Linda Sedgewick
the Dimaggios
and Alan Straus.
Once (almost all of) the guests had left, we could settle down and watch the Giants and the Steelers both blow games in overtime
to end a day devoted to a good cause with traditional football disappointments.
