Then it was Rosh Hashanah and we were happy to have everyone home for the holiday. Sarah baked a lovely challah and then there were various attempts at finding a venue for the family photo before we realized that we should go outside and Sarah made her way to join Suzanne and then they were joined by Jane and Ben before I joined for these set of family photos, one of which would be our holiday card.

Josephine who was our photographer then posed with the kids and with Suzanne before we headed off to services. Back at home, we had a caprese salad and green beans and parsley and nice apples to dip in honey to go with the chicken dish and 3 cake layers for the cake that would have some structural issues and, of course, Sarah's challah The tomatoes called out for artistic photos as did the fruit bowl the olives the figs (with goat cheese) and the artichoke hearts as I tried to get the perfect fig picture, not an easy task. We were about ready to serve the salad the green beans and these elegant appetizers when the Kramers arrived and so apples were cut challah was blessed and we gathered by the table to eat. Sam arrived and he and Ben went off on an excursion and then Jeff arrived but insisted on traveling incognito though he did bring us various pieces of Hawaii and holiday cheer as we had those foods that dip well in honey and hoped for a sweet year.

In the next round, Claire arrived with David and Ed, all fresh from their various trains which amused Suzanne as we assembled for yet another meal, undoubtedly suggesting that it would be a year of abundance but hopefully not a year of corpulence. Lily arrived soon after and cracked a smile as we all wished for happiness and good health.
