The next day began with jams
toast
and madelines
to go with my meds
and the figs
as I admired flowers
stones
and more flowers
before we made our way to Half Moon Bay where Jacobo displayed his camera
and I took these selfies of the group
as we made our way down to the trail
and admired the trail
before heading down the path
|
to the beach and marching along
stopping to admire the birds
and rocks
as we made our way
over stones
collecting the occasional sea glass and elegant shells
and noticing car parts
as we roamed below the cliffs
under the watchful eyes of these sea lions
|
who were being observed by this bird
as Barbara tried on horns
as did Jacobo
and Barbara recovered a rock that looked like a slice of bread
as we found more car parts
and a very wholey rock
together with our first house parts
with the rest of the house still on the bluff above
but this bird seemed oblivious
to the next house we saw
despite its warm greeting
and its adjoining pieces on the sand
even as we could look up to the house that might be the next one on the beach
though pieces were falling down
this cliff.
We came to a delicate crossing where the tide had come largely in and so crossing was a challenge
as overseen by the bird off shore
but Barbara made it
followed by Jacobo
and the sea lions oversaw
Suzanne's crossing
before they swam off
and Suzanne and Jacobo joined us
as we headed to the bluff and looked down on the seals
|
from this vantage point
which was a good place from which to take a selfie
before we walked into the woods and saw this teepee
and this fallen tree
in a lovely forest
and we then headed to the distillery
which was dog friendly and open
and had a long history
and so we opened the menus
scoped out the food
and then read the story of the blue lady
before checking out the specials
and the stained glass windows of wine, women and song.
And then our shared beer came (black and tan)
along with Barbara's (tan)
as Jacobo and Barbara
and Suzanne
and Suzanne and I with sunglasses
and without
admired the condiments
until our meals arrived
and we then started back on the bluff walking up a street that had shifted quite a bit though Jacobo could remember the days when the street was flat and driveable.
We visited the foundation of a house that had fallen
before coming to the peace house.
Having seen the effects of erosion, we took this sign seriously
but still recorded the succulents and flowers
|
before feeling sadness about the plane that went down at sea
and making our way past house
shoe garden
succulents
and the sight of the tower off in the distance
as Jacobo recorded the scene
and Suzanne and Barbara broke for the bicyclists
and then made their way
past the warning signs
so that we could see the decorated sign at the end of the trail
and accumulate
for a selfie after the delightful hike.
We stopped in Half Moon Bay at the Coffee and Cafe
where Suzanne
and Barbara
must have been admiring Jersey Joe's
as we came across the pumpkin man.
Back in Palo Alto, the collected stones and shells and sea glass were displayed
and seemed to attract the hummingbirds
|
among the flowers
before we made our way to Celia's
for chips
as we admired their sign
and had our share of margaritas
as Sarah, Suzanne and Scott
Scott and Jacobo
Ed and I
and Barbara
enjoyed our meals
before we adjourned for some ice cream.
