All good things must come to an end and we had reached the end of our trip and the end of our time at Ol Seki so some of the staff came out to pose for us

and then to pose with us as we began our 36 hour journey back to Hibben Road. Along the way, the impala

topi gazelle and monkeys came to say good bye

as we saw a few last impala before we got to the place where the sign told us the plane would land and so we surveyed the runway and this guide sign not to mention the mens room before we decided the sign and environment were worthy of a collection of pictures of Ben

as we recorded the license plate number of the car that had been our home as we came to love the bush in this part of the earth.

Since the plane wasn't coming, it was photo time as Jane sat and the sun shone as I was ready but the sky and the land and sky and rocky sign didn't lift me up or Jane or even Moses' water bottle on the dash as Ben took this self portrait and then recorded Jane's shoe lacing in great detail

and even after I had taken this picture of a bug on the ground we had to settle for the SafariAir plane that was picking up one of the others but not us until in the great distance (and more than an hour late), we saw our plane and watched it come down to a nice landing and then we were off capturing these final views of the Mara

as Ben read his book and the sky drew cloudy.

Once in Nairobi, we had the dilemma of 2 taxis coming to meet us (better than 0 but not as good as 1) but eventually resolved the problem and made our way to the Fairview where I had this pizza and Sarah had this sandwich while the others had equally enjoyable meals (which we realized would be our last decent food for many airplane meals to come) and then made our way to the Pimbi Gallery where we admired the artwork of Kioko especially the metal work

with an occasional break to admire our luggage and then back to the sculptures and our luggage still in tow before we took a photo of the woman running the gallery and she took these photos of us.

Our next stop was the Jewish synagogue in Nairobi where we began with the mikvah with a picture of the plaque about the donor and then a look at the mikvah itself before we admired the playground and the plaque honoring Charles Szlapak at their centennial. We paused for a group photo here with Harrison who was our exuberant tour guide and then went past the Mogen David to the main sanctuary where we saw a notice welcoming visitors and giving information about the congregation which serves about 300 of the 500 Jews in Kenya as well as a notice soliciting donations from abroad and we noted the cornerstone and its history and went into the sanctuary where this was the bima and these were the stained glass windows.

This small dose of spirituality prepared us for the next phase of our journey and after only a few more hours of shopping and waiting (we do have Mr. Giraffe to show for our efforts) we were on board the flight and having our first meal This small do which in my case seemed to be a cole slaw sandwich and then a dinner (at 11PM) of the usual airplane vegetarian fare (easier to die from than to die for) all of which led Ben, Jane and Suzanne to fall asleep as did Sarah which was convenient since it was a red eye to be followed by another flight. After a morning meal (but morning was very early (and maybe even not morning in the time we were heading towards), Sarah recorded the sun rise from the plane and so we knew we were making progress.
