The next day we went to the Universal Cafe for brunch
and after our coffees
with cream
orders were places
and my granola
was accompanied by full bodied Straus yogurt
as we finished our meal.
We next headed off to the Golden Gate bridge where a cluster of people with the same dogs were gathered
and made our way past the recycled earth
with a goal in mind
as we wondered if the fog would lift so that the bridge would be in full sight
before we reached the men of full vision who made it happen
and saw the statue of Mr. Strauss (not related to the creamery)
and the cables that keep the platform standing
even in the fog
as cars are approaching
and the timer is set.
We took the obligatory pre-walk photos
and then began our trek across the 1.2 mile long bridge with Alcatraz in the distance but covered in fog.
We were warned that we could throw anything over the side
including ourselves
but help was there for us
even as the fog didn't lift
but we did thank PG&E for the power they provide to
light the bridge, in exchange for which this tower is named for them.
TH ere was still fog in the distance
but things cleared
as we entered Marin county
and reached marker number 1
though we didn't have to push the button since the gate was open.
Once across we noted that there was still fog in the San Francisco distance
though our side was quite clear
as we began the trek back
and re-entered San Francisco County
as cars rolled by
and Sarah and Ed marched towards me
