The main event was on May 31, so we started with a warmup picture as I trained Sandra to take many of the pictures that followed. But first, she posed with Beatriz Colomina (Architecture) before helping the PADT people

get ready for the pictures I was going to take and maybe for the ceremony. Congratulations to Michael Wood (English), Beatriz Colomina (Architecture), Joao Biehl (Anthropology) and Bob Cava (Chemistry) this years winners. I followed with pictures of Joao, his wife and son and then Sandra took them outside

for the real rehearsal.

As the assembled continued, we thanked Kathy Donnelly for the food and assembled honorary degree winners and friends as Bill Russel posed and then Paul Raushenbush (Religious Life) and Yo-yo Ma posed. Meanwhile, Sandie Bermann was getting reading to lead the parade though there were more pictures to be taken before I posed with Anne d'Harnoncourt from the Philadelphia Museum of Art and Karin Trainer showed her joy at the event as Brian McDonald and I chatted before my pictures with Wole Soyinka and Yo-yo Ma as Bob Rawson pondered life post-trustee. A few more pictures, sent Sandra outside where she watched Pablo Debenedetti (Chemical Engineering), Hank Dobin (Dean of College), and Thomas Leisten (Art and Archaeology) assemble as Anne Marie got ready to pose with Kai as Larry Peterson and Jeremy Kashdin (Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering) watched. The crowd continued as Joe Taylor, my predecessor, appeared in the crowd and the students and faculty seemed ready to march even as Mary made one last phone call and Marcia Snowden (Assistant to the President) and Raj Vinnakota (Trustee) posed as did Laurel Harvey (Administration) getting ready for his first parade.

Now it was getting to be time for our crowd to assemble

and get ready to march, so Chris and I had clashing colors as Shirley and Bob Rawson appeared and I took this picture of Sandra and Mary who make it all work as they took a picture of the 4 of us Chris Eisgruber, Shirley Tilghman, Bob Rawson, and David Dobkin who seem responsible for the parade and get to march last. Then Mark B appeared and Edwin watched as the parade

made its way and the people Jennifer Bolton and Jennifer Bolton, Ann Halliday, and Kathy Donnelly who make it all happen breathed a sigh of relief. The crowd moved and 2 of the 3 deans -- Anne Marie Slaughter and Maria Klawe -- got ready to march. There was still lots more time for photos

before my group led by Tom Breidenthal was ready to go.

We made our way in and then Sandra took a break until I started awarding the PADT's

and then we were marching out past Marcia Snowden and Susan Kovach who helped the president get to and through this event and back to the medics who made sure everyone survived. On the way to lunch, we ran into Steve Oxman and Bob and Judy Rawson -- the past and future leadership on the board. Once at lunch, Neta Bachall (Astrophysics) appeared and was recorded. Another successful graduation event. That afternoon, Alex Haldeman '03 stopped by to give me a picture from the Art of Science exhibition.

After the graduation, it was clearly time to celebrate, so we went on tour Not to be outdone, the assistants took their own trip to the beach.
