On Saturday, May 29, we woke up and Benjamin
decided to stay home and build as Jane
joined us for our walk to town where we ran into Noah and Hank Dobin
and then David Spergel
of the Astrophysics department at Small World. Next we saw my favorite waitress
ex- of PJ's and elsewhere who told us tales of living in Firestone Library in
the late 60's. As Suzanne
made her call, the parade started
led by Ray Wadsworth
as Jane
marveled at the honor guard
and the Chen family
passed by though they couldn't get Jane to babysit. The patriots
and fife and drum corps
inspired Jane to get this muffin
as more patriots came
including this man with a weapon
and the bag pipers
who passed by
ahead of the 1960 Volvo
and the 1949 truck
who led Uncle Sam
and the very old car
which led the twirlers
and the marching band
not to mention the train
the girl scouts
and the flautists
who inspired us to investigate the carts that would take the classes of 1931
and 1925
through the parade as I paused for this self portrait
before the Spirit of Princeton
and Korean groups
passed me by. The mayor's husband was there
as were Bob and Wanda Gunning
he of the math department and she of the historical society. After watching
an emergency vehicle
a fire engine
and the Burlington City Music Band
pass us by, we knew it was time to go home to see what Ben
was doing and have a healthy lunch
as Claire and Sarah
prepared to make their way and Ben
waited for Alan
to bring Joel
to join us at the P-Rade. We said good bye to Jane
who was canoeing with her friends and went on to see Erik Sorenson (Chemistry)
and his wife, and Steven Sather and Jon
and the Ford family
also in a second pose
before finding this lady
who sold Suzanne
drinks so that we could feel better when we ran into Brian Kernighan
and then this electrician
who told us a slightly twisted history of the P-Rade as we watched the new
arch
and saw the class of 2004
approach. After discussing with these gentleman
the greatest joys of reaching a 50th reunion, we headed to the Wawa
where the canoeing gang
was waiting and where the twins
(which is which?) talked about splashing as we saw a car deconstruct
and another
carry people from Joel's little league game inspiring another self portrait
until we got home and the boys
could do the computer thing as the older kids rested
until the computer thing
inspired pizza pick-up
so we could look
as Lucy
got her drink and then eat
as we admired Jane's fingers
which seemed to inspire Seva
and Peter
to arrive together
as I took a few profiles
and then a self portrait
and Peter shared his memory
as Ben Kaplan
arrived to accompany Sarah.
So, we marched by generations starting with the PU students
then progressing to the JP students
and finally the older generation
as we followed the crowd
and found our place
to sit
though self portraits
didn't do so well and the fireworks pictures
require some study.
