It was Friday May 7 and everything seemed like normal until we got to
the Valley Road Building where Jane was supposed to take her AP exam.
Once there, we discovered that there had been a lightning strike at the
school and so everything was closed for the day. So, John
and Frank and Fred and Jane
and Kaylen
and Devon
came with backpacks
to amuse Jane
as Kaylen and Frank
ate cereal
and the meds
led to a phone call
or two
but didn't deter me from my day.
I drove to Philadelphia (2140)
and there was DrLen
excited about his computer
as we planned the day and stared at the refrigerator
and bottles
and plates
so that we would know where DrLen should call for food
as I admired the art work
while the ordering continued
and we eventually got to PrimoHoagies
to buy our food. We drove past the red pepper sign
and the people on the corner
as I took this self portrait
while we followed the yarn truck
past the Free Library
until we parked and secured the car
at the Wissahickon
and followed the path
past the big tree
and under the statue
to the bench
overlooking the water
where we settled and took out the food
and opened the wrapper
and drank the water
as the water below
and the bridge above
made the right setting from which to watch the fishermen
and wonder if they both caught
the same fish. Driving back on the parkway
I tried a new genre
which failed and got home where the kids
looked like they hadn't moved.
