The next day, I took Ben to Flemington for a chess tournament. If you look carefully at this picture
you see this image of him hard at work. Afterwards,
the award ceremony began
and Ben waited
until he was called up
to receive the trophy
for 1st place (4 wins, no losses) in the grade 4-12 section. An exciting time.
We came home because it was time to celebrate our anniversary. We gathered the
clan including these respectable people with an umbrella
and this younger man who replaced me
and then just Sarah and Ed posed
as Ben was amused
as we got ready to enter Rats
for a celebratory dinner.
I had a martini
which threw off the next picture
but my plate
was quite nice before it was removed to make room for the radish soup
and other courses
as the others had fish
and chicken
and my ravioli
and risotto
kept me happy even as Jane dug into her filet mignon
as the bread person posed
which made the waiter
want his picture taken too.
Then it was time for individual pictures, so Jane posed
Ben posed
and then got amused
Ed posed
Sarah posed
and I took this self portrait
before capturing Suzanne
and letting someone else capture me
in the family group.
Sarah next did an excellent job of recording a trip to the lady's room

After dinner, it was time to celebrate Sarah's birthday and so we started
the ritual of present opening
with a display of earrings
and a large bow
and then more presents
with a break for complimentary pastries
and more presents
until the hands
were tired and the desserts
including fries and shake
came along with the bill
which showed that a night out with the family isn't as cheap as it used to be.
After visiting with some people in the garden
and seeing the mother and child
we admired some sculptures in the dark
before having some tea
with the old timers and taking one last picture
with which to close off the celebration.
