We started this day by picking up Suzanne who was looking at fancy Persian rugs while participating in the tea ritual The rest of us didn't seem able to share her enthusiasm though we were happy to take the obligatory phone booth pictures

We first drove to Modi'in. This is where the Maccabees are supposedly buried and there are also lots of sights here where trees have been planted by foreigners. But we stopped there to have lunch

Having had food and drink we were ready to look for the graves. We found this monolith which maybe is the site of the graves but couldn't read the Hebrew to know what it was we were looking at.

Next we followed the signs to the Hasmonian Village which was unfortunately closed when we got to it.

So, we headed on to Jerusalem. Eventually we had dinner in a pizza parlor in the Jewish Quarter. As we were leaving, we decided to see what the Western Wall and Dome of the Rock looked like in the dark.

On the way out of the Jewish Quarter, we took the obligatory phone booth picture As we passed the citadel (tower of David) we noticed that it was opened for a night time exhbition and lighting. The view of the Dome of The Rock was impressive even though the camera couldn't capture it
