This was the day we drove to Santiago de Compostela. The town is famous for its cathedral which was our first stop where we explored the town square and saw people in all manner of dress along with many pilgrims. This building has 365 windows, one for each day of the year (but I don't know what they do for leap years).

Once inside the cathedral, we went to this statue where you are to bump your head for good luck. David did so and almost lost his head in the process. The altar in the church was quite impressive. We went behind it to see the bones of Santiago himself and then roamed the corners of the church waiting for mass to end.

At the end of mass, they brought down the big ropes and attached the incense burner and to the excitement of Benjamin they swung this all around the church starting slowly

but then building up speed and smoke until it was going full speed and almost hitting the ceiling Eventually they slowed it down and stopped it but the incense burner was quite a sight to have seen as all those assembled agreed

We passed the main fountain on the way to lunch

and the statue of Atlas on the way back to catch a few pictures of the cathedral in better light and some group pictures in the town square

Once back in Cambados we relaxed at our pool being careful to follow the rules. Before heading to dinner, we catch an episode of Who wants to be a Millionaire en Espanol.

After dinner, we went to the playground where the flying apparatus

was working much to everyone's delight.
