After we finished our tour of Luxor, we managed to miss the boat heading south. Eventually we got back to the boat and started a very serene, very beautiful cruise. Sarah took these pictures on and off

the side of the boat.

While we were waiting to get through the locks at Esna, we noticed boats approaching other cruise boats and sure enough, a few moments later, this gentleman started to show his wares to our boat. If you expressed interest, he tossed the item up to the boat and started to negotiate prices. No one bought anything so we didn't learn how the money gets back to him. The tablecloth got negotiated down to $10 (normally $20, for you $10) with 12 napkins but still it had no takers.

The next day we woke up still waiting for the locks and with these salespeople by our boat As I'm sure you know, this last picture is of
Akaman Akd el Naky
who works at
A Mape Mepoaplk of Egypt
Azbut el Hazan St. 15
Kana Esna, EGYPT. When you talk to him, identify yourself as a friend of Ali Baba. You'll get a good price.

We also took a few more pictures of the crew with our family and of ourselves in various incarnations including Suzanne reading Jane doing Blair Witch imitations in self portraits David staring, then sneezing, then recovering

Sarah hanging out Benjamin hanging out and Benjamin and Jane eating and posing for sunset pictures

We had been here already for 24 hours looking at the entrance to the locks when a boat came out and we got ready to go in so that we could stop looking at our shadows We went in and looked back at the boats we had waited with and looked forward to the area we'd cross This boat came with us getting closer and closer Then they raised the water level and on we went

As is always the case, the scene you see to the left

and to the right

and behind the boat is so good that you have to take that extra picture. Unfortunately, no camera can capture the whole ambiance of the ride, the scenery, the sense of total relaxation, ... The best we can do is to present many many views of the sunset in progress

The next day, Tuesday, Suzanne took pictures of the kids in the boat's pool

and then a collection of pictures off the side of the boat

She and Sarah then decided to read until it was time to go to Kom Ombo. The details of our return from the temple are recorded elsewhere (as part of the trip rather than part of the boat ride since we were technically not on the ship at the time). Nonetheless, we encourage the serious viewer to find them as they make an interesting story.

Later that night, we took a collection of pictures at dinner with our delightful table mates

For the viewer who is still reading this, and we know that there are many of you, we include 2 broken pictures for your viewing pleasure
