It was that time of year and so people started to gather both in Princeton and at our house for the inevitable reunion moments. Amy arrived first soon, Ed and Sarah followed and Joel appeared though he wasn't yet connected to reunions. We put out some food which looked better by the light of day and Rik arrived as did Katie-Camille who had actually been there all of the time. So we made drinks as the chicken marinated and this caused Sarah to model the class costume -- front and back -- as Eve and Alex Dahlen arrived and there was champagne to celebrate Alex's achievement as food was served the table having been readied and this plate was accompanied by these cupcakes whose domes were to collapse before all could be eaten. After the meal, attention turned to the exploded light bulb in the family room and a team of experts was able to remove the filament and give us the light which inspired Jane to appear and even a do gooder to arrive and ask for funds to continue his good work (or line his own pockets as the case may be). Jane showed her badge Ben showed his new hat and Sarah showed her business card and so we called it a day.
Friday began with a collection of shoes and then a delivery from Olive's which was very kind of Eve to arrange and once the package was opened, people began to appear beginning with Amy and then Jane (who needed Amy to inspire the picture) as orange toes were shown to excuse the lack of proper burnt orange attire (lots of coral trying to pass as orange) and this inspired Sarah Ben Suzanne and Ed to emerge before we went to collect Ben Mains from the train and returned in time to see Eve off for the day.
We then began our walk on campus and ran into Jen Rexford '91 and her roommates past and present. At my office, we saw Mitch Richmond '86 and Susan Brown '87.
Once back home, Morgan and Katie Camille appeared with Morgan bringing these cups from Kenya; not exactly a giraffe but still very much appreciated. Kathryn arrived as did Ryan and Rik and Julia. We went off to reunions where Diane East gave us our badges and then headed to the class of '71 tent where Paul Ominsky posed with Peter and Seva because we couldn't find a Mary. The excitement began when the Beach Boys (actually the Beach Boy) appeared and the concert progressed (in quite impressive form) for 2 hours as I recorded stills and videos to accompany their work.
Saturday began with the morning's display of shoes after which Kathryn Amv Sarah and Ed and Ben awoke to this spread to be followed by Eve and Jane (partially awake) and Catherine Rampell '07 as Rik and Julia dressed the role with Rik's image being enhanced by this hat which made them more the Princeton couple. As we made our way into town, we first met with Ben and Joel and then with Jenny Crunmiller and Jo Butler fresh from the Memorial Day parade.
Once on campus we admired the large collection of golf carts in the staging area as Suzanne connected with someone we were to meet after I purchased shoes that were fraught with disaster. After shoes, lunch, liquor purchase and all, we were back on campus and ready for the P-rade where we first saw PFK and then Hal Roberts '96 before we found Sara Just who took this photo of me, Ed, Sarah and Suzanne. and with that, the P-Rade began with our attention often distracted by the human keg as things progressed
Sunday morning I awoke to the shoes in the entryway accompanied by the sleeping boys in the family room and headed to the kitchen where Suzanne Sarah and Ed were wondering who would rise next as Joel appeared and food seemed to bring Ben Amy Audrey Ben Eve Alex Bauman and Kevin forward so that we could compared wristbands as Morgan and Kathryn and Rik appeared for my artistic photo that typifies reunions as Eric Domb appeared grateful for not having to sleep in his car and then John appeared for the rise to Baltimore followed by Julia Catherine who dressed for the occasion Jane KC and Ryan. After this, there was the departure of Amy and Ben as I made my way to the Baccalaureate and saw Michael Porter and then returned to see Sam Cummins Jon Hwang Maggie Charleroy Alex Dahlen and Lily Brent as asparagus was cooking with other condiments and corn soaking before the major spread of food was served
Monday the trustees were here and we went to the honorary degrees dinner where we hosted Hank Aaron who posed with Bill Bowen me and Jeff and then signed a baseball for Suzanne.
At graduation, I began by capturing Danny Oppenheimer with his parents and without light as Billye Aaron and Suzanne watched George Will robe and I went back to my office to capture the 4 PADT winners -- Anne Case, Alexander Nehamas, Danny Oppenheimer and Dirk Hartog. and then to see Goerge Will and Hank Aaron followed by Susan Desmond-Hellmann and David Botstein Paul Muldoon and then did the Aaron pictures, Hank Aaron posing with Suzanne Suzanne and I posing with Hank and Hank and Billye posing with Suzanne followed by Jeff Canada posing with Suzanne and Steve Oxman with Bill Walton and then Toni and Mary from my office before I posed with Suzanne and Fred Greenstein appeared after which I captured Margaret Fox-Tully and Christine Gage and Nat Fisch.
After the event, Jim Lanzi came by to see Hank Aaron the Jones posed with the Rawsons Lanny Jones posed with Hank Aaron and Bill Jordan posed with Hank Aaron.
The ceremony all done and my path home beginning, I ran into Nathan Myhrvold*82 and Rosemary Havranek *81
Lanny Jones was nice enough to send me these photos of me on stage and with Sarah Jones and the Rawsons.
