t was to be a long celebration of the end of the year involving old friends and new and lots of eating (some would say, over eating) and so we began by going to One 53 with Michael and Carolyn
where these group photos
were taken by our waiter.
A few days later, Matt Traylor came to visit and made me this perfect omelette as I sat by the fire (another common ritual this holiday season).
Suzanne and I began the Xmas celebration with a long walk and along the way we passed the street sign for Maxwell Lane.
We began the days eating with challah made into French toast with Bailey's
and made a fire
though Suzanne settled at the table
as we enjoyed our French toast
along with this drink of BlaVod and Orange juice that I made
and soon the main course was cut
and served
and dressed
which made me happy.
IN the preparations for dinner, Jane cut her finger tips which led to blood
and bandages
put on at the emergency room
all in the search for the right escaloped potatoes
to be served with the meat course
as the potatoes
were very welcome on my plate
along with pulled pork vegetarian style
and a salad.
The next day was when the blizzard was supposed to come. We began with a dusting at 8:42 AM
but as time progressed, things got worse to this at 4:11 PM
and 5:07 PM
6:16 PM
and 9:16PM when I went to sleep to create energy for the task ahead the next day.
The next day, I awoke to this scene
where the large flower pot
and the deck was snow covered
as I saw the garbage cans
and after a final photo went out to tackle the snow.
The next day, I recorded Jane's fingers
which led to confusion
but after a trip to the train station, I took a before photo of Joel's teeth
and then we welcomed Sarah and Ed from the train
as the fire was going
and Jane had her drink
as Cara arrived
and showed her teeth
but Audrey
had trouble getting her teeth in focus.
as the food was cooking
and flowers were placed
and then on to the table
so that we could enjoy the fire
even as hearts were being created
to go with the comfort food
the salad
and the chicken
and after eating the hearts
the dessert of icebox cake was served
and the cook took a rest
even as my cake was completed.
The next day began with a journey to Verizon where Sarah and Jane scoped out the phones
and Tony took good care of us.
When we returned home from our mammoth shopping excursion, the tables were set
and food was being prepared
including theses cookies
which did not see the light for long
and this roast
with the flatbread
as the cookies were arranged
and Alex and Liz Dahlen arrived
bearing gifts
and dark and stormy's were prepared
as the Slaughter's arrived
and we admired the table
as meat was served
and my plate began with mac and chac
but no meat
and so salad was added
as the assembled
enjoyed their meals even as chocolates
and cookies were served
in a flurry
and Bill and I did the dueling cameras thing.
The next day, breakfast with Sarah
and Ed
and Suzanne
and I before they took the train
and then we drove through long traffic at the tunnel to an excellent parking space at Jane's apartment

It being the last day to cook in 2010, there was fine slicing
pig roasting
eggplant flattening
and peanut butter stuffing going on
as ingredients were everywhere
peppers appeared
and various concoctions were being mixed
