I began my meal plan with a lunch in my office for Mark Rose (Molecular Biology), Jacob Shapiro (Politics and Woodrow Wilson School), David Huse (Physics), Jeff Nunokawa (English), Mark Burstein (Administration), Marie-Helene Huet (French and Italian).

Since it was Sarah's birthday celebration (her actual birthday having happened a week earlier), we decided to go into the city a bit earlier than the planned dinner so that we could walk along the HiLine and once there found this sign which was less relevant because we had taken the train (my status as a senior fare being being firmly established) and then Ben posed as we looked at the structures along the HiLine and the street scene below before going back for more photos of the sign and then some looks towards New Jersey and the places where the HiLine was not paved over as I caught these interesting views of the shadows around before Ben and Suzanne sat on the oddly ended bench and we watched the River and the elevator before taking pictures from the shows nearby. Our next site was the Brass Monkey and then in the opposite direction this restaurant from which noise was rising in an interesting pattern even as I zoomed in to people's tables and the truck and street scene below. Further along, this was the view from the end of the HiLine before we made our way back with Ben and Suzanne checking things out as the hotel over the HiLine (ideal for exhibitionists) appeared and we made our way to the Apple Store. Once outside the store, we ran into Jeff who posed with Ben at the triangular corner and we were joined by Ed and Sarah before tracing a path to the restaurant Barbuto where we were going to have dinner as I recorded some photos of rectangular bendpipe in their ceiling for another purpose as olives arrived and then our drinks which amused Suzanne as we has our first courses -- some salads and a soup and then some bread before the main courses

and side dishes arrived. The waitress was nice enough to arrange for kitchen photos and to join us in the frame but unfortunately this waiter did not do a great job at capturing our images though he might have captured our souls quite well. After a spot of dessert we moved onward and Sarah posed in front of another kitchen we passed and then we passed yet another kitchen while making our way to the Magnolia Bakery where these were the views into the work area and these were the cupcakes we bought and brought to the parklet nearby to snack on.

Returning to real life, I hosted a lunch for David Lee (ECO/WWS), Blair Schoene (GEO), Branko Glisic (CEE), Steven Bernasek (CHM) and Diana Fuss (ENG).
