It was the fourth of July and Ben was still away at camp, so we took a long walk and met up with the Kramers but Peter was trying to be Michelle Obama and then the Kramers did the Michelle and Al thing

after which I had my moments as Michelle

The next day was a beautiful day and being a holiday Sunday in the summer, there was no traffic when driving to New York where we ended up at the Vento having Bloody Mary's as Jeff and Ed sat together and Suzanne Sarah and I made up the other side of the table with this very tasty bread served as our waiter brought our main courses for all to enjoy

and then there were the small tastes of ice cream for dessert after which we began our walk around the city first passing by a wedding and then some pigs which attracted children including Geofferson to a store front. Next we saw some signs; two and maybe three of them delivered a good message to pet owners about proper respect. The third seems to be able wines and fancy words. Walking along the waterfront we saw wonderful views and often paused to admire that which we were seeing including the Circle Line boat.

It was time for Ben to come back but before his return, I ran into Ramon Van Handel, a new faculty member in ORFE, on campus and then we drove to Newark Liberty Airport and found Ben and his friend Avery who had many stories to tell about 14000+ peaks, trail building and life in Colorado.

A few days later, Sarah came home and Claire and David stopped by to collect her for brunch which looked better in the (more) proper light.

Back to work, I took Tom Leisten, new chair of Art and Archaeology, to lunch and Howard Stone, new faculty member in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering stopped by to say hello.

Another summer weekend and another beautiful day, so we drove into New York found easy parking and a dog appropriate sign so that Ben and Suzanne could walk to Ann and Stan's apartment where this was the spread and these were the plates as Ed, Sarah, Myrtis and Suzanne ate causing me to focus in on Myrtis and Suzanne Ed and Sarah and then Ann Byron (who was unfortunately backlit) and Stan and Ben. On our way back to Princeton, we stopped at the Salt Creek Grill where these were our meals -- Suzanne's salad Ben's ribs and my portabello as Suzanne and Ben thought I was moving too fast, so I slowed down and spoke with Abigail our waitress before the dessert tray came.

The next Sudnay we went to Acacia withe the Slaughters. Bill came dressed for success (or maybe for Bermuda) and Martha and Suzanne admired this non picture before I captured myself and we were served our meals

One day at work, as I was heading to my office, I ran into Larry Cortleyou before heading off to lunch with Stewart Prager.

The next day, I had lunch with Ted Champlin, the new chair in Classics.

Event hough the day was questionable, Dr Len and I decided to try out the swimming hole at Neshaminy but weather got in the way so we found an outdoors basketball hoop and then after sweating up a storm went to this restaurant with interesting signs in the men's room but this didn't stop Dr Len and I from settling in to our meals and then capturing a photo of the waitress who asked to take this picture of me before we left the restaurant, Tijuana Flats and headed to Rita's next door where they were introducing the Swedish Fish water ice which I chose while Dr Len has some form of custard and as we ate and discussed Swedish Fish, the rains came in a large way so that our stay at the strip mall lasted far longer than expected.

Back at work, I had a meeting with Celia Chazelle, Al Kendell, Andrew Nurkin Gillian Knapp, Kiki Jamieson about prisons.

Next day in the office, I had lunch with Nancy Hass from Bloomberg who wants to find a way to cover Princeton.

The time had come when my office was at full size with the hiring of Susan Giranda and we also celebrated Nita Cherry's birthday before gathering on the steps of Nassau Hall and having Randy Setlock take this series of photos of our group

of which this was the consensus winner.
