Sarah and Ed were getting ready to leave Brooklyn, so we went for one last visit and found this sign on a fence.
I then left for San Diego en route to SIGGRAPH for a quick fly by of various things in Southern California. My trip began at dansyl's with these foods
and drinks
before Syl
and Dan
joined Elaine Watson
and Dr. Kenneth Watson
and me in this self portrait
for a dinner where I had this salad
and the pasta dish
and the carrot cake with a touch of yogurt ice cream on the side.
The next day began with a pilgrimage to the Pancake House
and then an excursion to Roy's (an Asian fusion restaurant) for dinner but we needed to record the position of the doormat before we left because of a theory that it sometimes creeps.
Once at Roy's
we were served these wonderful beans instead of bread (health reasons)
and my wonderful martini
which made me more excited about the vegetarian menu
though these pictures
taken by the resident photographer did not bode well because of the back lighting.
My meal was excellent in all courses
and Dansyl
and I
adjourned after the tea course to continue our marathon of Ohell.
Next I went to la Habra to the worldwide headquarters of Stop Look Sign Co. where Dave was there to help fix the plastics machine
and was chatting with Mikey
when Dave's wife Louise arrived and posed
soon to be followed by Hon, Mikey's wife, after which we could depart and have Mexican food sans photos (for reasons that now seem obscure).
The next day, the La Habra folks drove me to LAX for my circular flight home and I captured Larry, Janet and Paige as they were seeing me off (and seeming too happy about it).
After the trip back, we headed to the beach but took some time off from photos until drinks were assembled
and Audrey made sandwiches
while Alan folded towels
and the sandwiches were assembled
so that we could go to the beach where Joel and Eddie were buried in the sand

This day ended with dinner at Kubels as Jane, Fred and Lucy
Cara, Joel, Eddie and Ben
Audrey and Alan
Suzanne
and I
settled in for drinks
and our main courses
The next day began with this sign for the collection
as Suzanne rested from our walk (though we had to walk back)
and I had this drink
and took this self portrait
before we walked back to see Jane
Lucy
Rachel
and Ben
as Suzanne
and I
admired Jane, Lucy and Fred
before heading to the beach to read this sign
and get comfortable at the beach
where I took a break from my book
to head back to the house with Ben
where wonder of wonders up pulled this car
with Jeff at the wheel
and in came Jeff
and Sarah
and then we returned to the beach where the older girls
befriended this younger girl
as Suzanne and Jeff chatted
I watched the sky
the gulls roamed free
the life guards frolicked
and the rail birds moved on.
Back at home, Sarah and Ben read our options
as the peanuts came out
and Jane and Lucy
admired the drinks
as Jeff amused the girls
as Suzanne and Sarah dressed the salad
as Ben watched
as Sarah and Suzanne prepared the rest of the food
so that we could go to the porch and Suzanne
Sarah
Jane
Fred
Lucy
Jeff
Ben
and I could pose
and then in another round, Sarah
and Ben could pose
before Ben started reading the Iliad aloud
and Jane
showed off her manicure
and then took the camera and took these pictures of me
then Lucy
Fred
me and Lucy

The next day we went off to play miniature golf at the site of Mr. Bob's room
and Suzanne sunk her putt on the 19th hole
to win the pen
shown here.
We celebrated by going to the 18th Street Cafe where this was our relish tray
and my roll
and salad
and the Caesar salad
while Suzanne
Ben and Suzanne
Sarah
Jane and I
Ben and Suzanne
Sarah, Jane and I posed for pictures
until the main courses came
which made us ready for this group photo
and a few final individual photos
so that after a final shot of Jane's manicure, we could call it a day.
A long walk the next day took us past the Mickey Mouse mailbox
as Ben, Jane and Suzanne marched on
and we admired the many watering cans
and the beautiful flowers they produced
Next day it was time for the pilgrimage to Mustache Bills
where things were busy
so that we could capture the sign
as Suzanne, Ben and Jane waited for our table
I posed for this self portrait
as did Ben and Jane

Will Fisher came to visit bringing boundless energy, inedible food and a curious attitude towards life
so we went to the beach
as Suzanne rested
and the umbrella stood
Ben, Jane and Will posed with Evan
and then Will was buried

The next day we went to the Surflight theater after eating at the Chicken or the Egg and as we waited
Suzanne spoke with Sarah on the phone
Ben showed he was tall enough to get it
and I recorded the chocolate company that Jeff loves.
Our last visitor was Dr Len who came bouncing up the steps
then posed with Evan
and played beach baseball with Ben.
By this time, we were suitably mellowed so that all that was left was to take our tans home and prepare for the new year.
