It was summer, a time for quieter reflection and vacations and planning for the new year. Judy Chirico arrived at my office to help plan for the new year by helping with the shelves for the pennies marked D and S.
Then Jeff returned from vacation in Hawaii (or was it familial obligation) with leis for OtherJane and Suzanne and they posed together with him
and then Suzanne
and OtherJane posed
as Suzanne admired her gift box
and we spread the Hawaiian (actually Japanese) treats on the table
as Jeff constructed a tree of Macadamia nut cans
Several days later, Mike Wood '08 stopped by to interview me.
Finally, it was time to begin the journey to take Ben to camp after our terrible horrible worst possible beach day to which I forgot to bring my camera. We began the journey by stopping at Mike's Dogs where they had many umbrella room carts
and these were Ben's dogs at Mike's dogs
with these condiments
and my fries ready to go
as we surveyed the menu options
and admired the smaller carts that could be rented before pressing on.
Next stop was our hotel room in Albany where these were the beds
and the view
and the beds on the way back
to the bathroom,
After a rest, we headed to DeJohn's
where I began with this martini
which only slowly roused Ben
but I got excited
when the mushroom and artichoke dip came
along with Ben's pasta
and my salad. Then we went home and called it a night.
Next morning, Ben's breakfast
hardly roused him
and my breakfast
and coffee
and condiments didn't do much for me
but we drove on past Mr. Subb
until we came to Vermont
where we had to wait for a 107 car train (count 'em) to pass us
before we could get to the Williams College campus and see these elegant mushrooms under a tree
as Ben loaded his pack
posed with his group leaders
and prepared to execute this itinerary.
