It was Suzanne's birthday and to celebrate, the Seeger Board had its meeting in the morning and then Trevor
Clayton and Margaret
Danny and Dimitri
Suzanne, Ben and Sarah
and Mary gathered
as I demonstrated how I can take self portraits
and profile shots of myself
and recorded a street sign
as we made our way to the museum of the region
and then back to the streets
where Ben, Sarah and Suzanne posed
and then were joined by Clayton
as we admired narrow streets
and then saw Margaret emerging from a pharmacy
as we made our way back through the plaza
and saw this status
and this watering structure left over from Turkish times
and the prison afar
as we recorded the name of the hotel for posterity (where else will you ever have automated curtains in the shower)
and then the brochure from the worry beads museum
as we made our way to Tolo where there was a beautiful beach
and a Greek salad
tsatsiki
olive paste
saganacki (fried cheese)
and vegetables
which made up this wonderful plate for me
before the fish dishes came
and then there was the wonderful fruit for dessert
followed by coffee
and strong Greek coffee with medium sweetening.
After a shot of the beach.
everyone put on their shoes
and we admired how the water was very clear
as we made our way to the parking lot
and to our bus.
Our next stop was the ruins at Epidaurus
where we began in the theater and worked our way up and down
|
pausing for a group picture
and pictures of Dimitri descending
before reaching the ground
and waiting for Suzanne to come down
so that our group could assemble on the stage and admire the acoustic (which are perfect)
|
before we gathered for a number of group pictures
|
and then a few pictures of Becca
before our guide gave us an overview of the archaeological site
and we did our exploration of the stadium
with its entry tunnel
and then on to the temple
|
where the group heard the story of the civilization that was here
before we proceeded to explore
and also see the construction site
together with the details
not to mention this picture of the columns
in the Temple of Asklepios
|
with this information
after which we explored
and came upon the place where the hand of god dispersed the water
but unfortunately we had to leave the complex
and settle for photos of the flowers along the way
|
and then we stopped for water
which was dispensed by the hand of Clayton (almost as it had been done in the temples.
Back in the bus, we rode through orange groves
before reaching the site of the ancient theater (a smaller one) in which we would see Philoctetes.
After identifying where we would eat,
we explored the town
admired the climbing wall
and mountains beyond
and grape arbor
before settling in for a dinner
of bread
stuffed tomatoes
stuffed grape leaves
cheese roll ups
beer
greens and beets
together with a meat dish.
After our watermelon
Dimitri tried to appropriately celebrate Suzanne's birthday
and then we move on to the theater to see Philoctetes.
