It was time for the Race for the Cure and so as we had done many times in the past, we began with the journey to Sam's Club for food and serving pieces and then the baking started (as always more than we could eat) with cookie sheets cleared to make room for more as apples were delivered and Suzanne made last minute arrangements on the phone while I finished my Popsicle and we then went to pick up Ben from Claire R.'s Bat Mitzvah and he showed off his new shirt while Ed modeled the new hair piece and then conferred with Sarah before putting the hair piece on Sarah. Meanwhile, I admired the Halloween paperweight that Suzanne had bought me and then Joel arrived and after saying good bye to the Straus family and the M&M's we went to Jonah's Bar Mitzvah reception where his grandmother held court and then prepared to take pictures of the Holmes and of Eric Vogt's father.

Back at home, the mixer was going full force and flour and chocolate chips were being assembled as we admired all of the apples and began work on the signage while admiring kisses and candies all in pick and a buffet set for fall ad the owl stood watch and we wondered if we could gift these books (among other things) as we admired the candy stocks.

Then the race came and the kite gave us a sense of how we might stretch cords to decorate and to symbolize the finish lines as the courses were created and the M&M's were served and yet another finish line was drawn even as the bowl for checks was placed the candies were out and Ben cleaned the outside table as Suzanne organized inside and Ben showed the signs of his hard work as he moved on to his second table. The chips of various sorts and dips and candles were out so we trekked to Hoagie Haven where the 6 foot hoagies were loaded into the car along with the condiments and we arrived home to see that the first racers -- Sharon and Kristen -- had arrived. As Ed brought in a hoagie we organized the table for all the hoagies including the spare one in the kitchen and then the cutting began as Jeff arrived and Suzanne, Sharon and Kristen primed Kristen to pose and then posed as a group before Maxine and Nancy and John arrived and Sarah and Ed settled in. Next came Carole Messersmith and Stephen and Lizzie followed by Pete and Lisa Sheryl Paul and Carol and Will as Jane, John and Ben stood by the door and the Fuchs came with their dog as Ira posed and then the Marshes arrived followed by the neighbors and some friends of Jane and then the Straus family women and Alan though Joel escaped to the backyard football game so they needed to borrow Sarah for their family picture as Seva arrived followed by Michelle and Steven.

All of this activity made it clear that people needed to assemble for the group picture

but after many tries, it was clear that people had to reassemble in the other direction for a group photo with better light

and so the walk began and along the way we ran into the rest of the Marsh family and back at home were Doris Shea Cindy George Claire Mulvey who also posed with Sarah and Ed John Shea and Emily Shea and then when the crowds left, Jamie and Jon Huang appeared. After recording one more year's sign, we saluted team Suzanne and felt good about the funds that we raised.
