This was the day that we decided to get up early before the heat of the day and go horse back riding. It was a bit cloudy but got quite warm as we rode. Little did we know that the weather would be very odd this day. We arrived at the stables before horses and so had to wait for them to appear and be escorted into their pen after which a horse was chosen for Ben and he and Suzanne took turns relating to the horse

before Suzanne's horse arrived

and finally my horse arrived (though I would later be moved to a different horse) so that Suzanne could climb aboard and ride tall in the saddle and then Ben could climb onto his horse step by step and we could ride off with Suzanne and Ben (and Brandon, our guide) ahead of me. On the way back from the horse ride, we stopped for stamps to mail post cards and then came home to a brunch of left over vegetables melted cheese sandwiches a bowl of cereal and the ice cream sundae we had in our freezer. Next we headed into the park but sopped to see a moose deep within the brush along with this whole crowd of onlookers. Next we drove to the top of Signal Mountain where we came to a first lookout complete with instructions and good first views and recorded the potholes (aka kettles) and also noted the storm brewing in the mountains across the way. before we headed off to the other vantage point where these instructions followed as we watched the storm developed with Ben in the foreground and wondered what happens to a storm like this but still looked down on the potholes and captured Suzanne as the storm seemed to get more serious

This didn't prevent Ben and Suzanne from posing and then Suzanne from looking at the camera and looking at the scene and this is what she saw before she was joined by Ben

and we wondered further about the brewing storm as this family set up an elegant group photo and we decided to give up worries about the brewing storm and the Snake River and go to the summit where Suzanne and Ben posed

before we bade farewell to the Snake River and admired the cell phone tower which gave truly strong signals and made our way down from these spectacular views to the Blue Heron Lounge at the Jackson Lake Lodge where we learned the meaning of National Parks even as this bird perched at the edge of our outside table which didn't seem to affect Suzanne me or Ben in these pictures Ben took before he recorded the food menu and I recorded the drink menu and the post card I had written and then took pictures of Suzanne and Ben and this self portrait of myself as I read the rules of the game admired the flowers and wondered whether the storm would come our way as this group had their picture taken by this good citizen. Suzanne's drink came as did mine along with the salad and chips and salsa and Ben's drink but the next thing we knew we were inside int he lounge watching the rain fall as Ben made many efforts to be sure he would not be photographed. After recording the peace efforts that had happened here, we headed to Jackson and once there took the obligatory phone booth picture before finding the Yippy I-O candy store with more bins than I've ever seen and emerged with these candies that Benjamin proudly held. We decided to avoid the Old Time Photo Booth but did capture this mural before heading to the town square to watch the evening show unfold complete with dancers, gun fighters, audience participation and a cast of many

After the show, we recorded the best store we had seen in town and drove to the pump at the Philips 66 station where I filled the tank and recorded the sign that pointed our way. Along the way,w e got behind this car of many bumper stickers and once home I changed batteries, this one having died.

Next it was time to go to Masa Sushi where Ben decided to hide from the camera while I took this self portrait with Suzanne until our Japanese beer and Ben's lemonade came along with the cucumber and lettuce salads. Ben kept avoiding the camera until I turned out the lights and then he posed and we were all excited when the ship came filled with our food after which Ben made some efforts to record the sail of the ship and after a picture of the bear in front of the hotel, we came home and called it a night.
