It was Sunday and after a few days of hiking, it felt like time for a break, so after changing camera batteries we went to the hotel nearby and were greeted by the bear as we got menus and Suzanne and Ben decided what they wanted as water and condiments were served and overhead a paraglider was making his way down to earth. Ben had apple juice and Suzanne coffee as the paragliders kept flying overhead and Suzanne's hat cast a funny shape as we admired the flowers nearby and the paraglider in the sky since our food was very slow in coming. Ben had pancakes with caramelized bananas Suzanne had eggs, bacon and fruit and I had oatmeal. Ben's came with syrup and mine with raisins and brown sugar which led to a plate that looked like this and eventually Suzanne's breakfast potatoes arrived. After breakfast we walked around the local complex seeing yet another paraglider come in for a landing and watching the gondola go up and down the hill.

Next we made our leisurely way to Jenny Lake to rent a canoe. This was the view from the canoe and this was the view in the canoe from the back seat. After our time canoeing, we sat by the lake and observed the mountain and the clear water of Jenny Lake as I sat on my rock and Ben on the shore took this picture of me and these pictures of the scenery and these pictures of his finger in the scenery before Suzanne came to water's edge to join me. As we watched the clouds gather, we wonder what might happen to our rafting trip but Suzanne enjoyed the view of the mountains and the dock and the clear water which couldn't be captured well up close as we continued to admire the mountains and ponder this cereal commercial as we made our way through ever increasingly threatening skies towards Signal Mountain Lodge

with a stop to see the potholes (which didn't do much for us) and an observation of the glaciers.

After a ride to the launch point, we were given appropriate warning and ponchos because it had started to rain (for a few seconds) and a view of our raft which was lowered into the water and we were welcomed aboard.

Aboard ship, I took numerous pictures of the water and mountains

and this rock we missed and the mountains as a remarkable backdrop

with a few attempts to get nests then back to mountain pictures

and the trees along the way and more mountains at a darker time

and some merganser ducks in the water more mountains and this hawk flying over head before we came upon this deer by the side of the road.

Our neighbors on the boat were nice enough to take these pictures of us in full regalia. Once on shore, we went to the outhouse where the smell made this sign almost unnecessary and this sign was a plea that one would have to take seriously.

We were left off at the Signal Mountain Lodge and took this as our cue that we should dine there so this vodka and grapefruit came for Suzanne and this lemonade for Ben as I posed for this self portrait and then tried to capture the message on this straw wrapper from corn. The sun was going down over Jackson Lake as Ben took these pictures of me and Suzanne and then Ben took a picture of himself with finger and Ben without finger. Our dinners came -- cheese steak for Ben salad for Suzanne and humus sandwich on pita for me. So we decided to call it a day and prepare for a long walk the next day.
