It was time to go to Santorini to see how the scanning project was progressing and so I went to the airport to catch my flight. The highlight was certainly the food starting with peanuts and a bloody Mary followed by water and wine and a roll. The multitude of silverware suggested that it was going to be a large meal even after the silver was arranged. I began with the mushroom soup because the other appetizers were non-vegetarian which was fine because there was too much food. Next came another roll a vegetable plate and a salad before the main course which didn't look so well but was spiced very nicely and then fruit and cheese course before we concluded with a dessert sundae and a cup of decaf all of which settled me in for a long night's sleep (well, at least a few hours)

The next morning came very quickly but was accompanied by juice fruit and a croissant before I got to Athens airport with enough time to take the obligatory phone booth picture before I got to the Hotel Akrotiri and took these pictures of the bathroom and the room before heading down to the snack bar to get this water and join Szymon and Benedict Matt Mike and Tim and take this self portrait before heading to the archaeological site where we saw the various storage bins that Andreas maintains and as we explored conversations ensued as we saw more before heading back to the lab and watching scanning begin

Back at the hotel, I admired the scenery as Szymon and Tim thought out the strategy and this sailboat perched in the sea causing us to begin the walk to the Red Beach where the snack bar gave us a direction before we reached the beach as Ben and Matt considered going in while I was admired the backdrop and then took some pictures of the water coming in and the background followed by more water and more backgrounds focusing on the ocher as the ancients must have done when constructing the frescoes. Meanwhile, Matt did his sugar cookie thing to assure he went back into the water. Sitting on the porch watching the sea pass by, I had a local beer as the sailboat perched and I recorded the bus stop sign and the signs of the local snack bar.

After a long drive that ended in town, we found the Nicholas restaurant where all were prepared for a good meal chosen from the specials of the day and involving appetizers a lovely vegetarian disk consisting of artichokes and potatoes and chicken among other entrees.

Next day, I awoke to admire the view once more and the cactus outside my room before heading down for this breakfast.

The day continued at the lab with these pieces which had to be placed on the scanner in turn and scanned

while we waited for the 2D scanner to come online and I admired the pieces left to scan focusing on the big one and then looking at other tables of parts (of which there were very many) and then I focused on the location of the piece I was scanning and zoomed in on what was next to a blurry mass even as I looked at the next pieces to be scanned. Soon thereafter, we left the site and headed into town where we began with a stop at the ATM before Tim and Szymon settled at our table for lunch in Fira as I looked at the views in all directions before the bread wine tsatsiki Santorini salad cooked Feta cheese cooked breaded tomatoes sausage saganacki and grape leaves arrived so that my plate looked like this before the grilled fish platter and my pizza arrived. After a dessert we were given an after lunch drink courtesy of the restaurant and as we pulled the car away from the children's clothing store we stopped for provisions so that I could buy this shampoo at this supermarket. Back at the hotel, I took these self portraits to determine if I was ready for dinner and determined that I was less ready than Tim Mike and Matt and Szymon but we went on to have wine in this bottle as I had my Greek salad and they brought us this watermelon as a courtesy.
