It was a stretch of beautiful days in May but there was still work to do, so I met Dick DeVeaux of ORFE
and then met with David Canadine (Humanities Council)
before having a faculty lunch with Marc Melitz ECON/WWS Andrew Dobson EEB Thomas DaCosta Kaufmann ART Ed Turner AST and Ekaterina Pravilova HIS.
At the end of the day, I went to FristFest where I ran into Jane and Emma Hare.
and then we went to Ben's band concert but as these trial pictures show, it wasn't possible to get good light on the band members and we had an obstructed view of Ben.

The next day, I did a few errands in Princeton before boarding the train to New York where I found Janet and Erin
and then Greg, Janet, Erin and Larry in Washington Square Park
where they had assumed that this person was me
so I sent them to pose under the arch
and then zoomed in on them in the photo
before we walked to Little Italy where Janet checked many menus starting with this one
as we rejected this restaurant
because we wanted pizza
but not from this stand
so as we recorded restaurants
and street scenes
and more restaurants
and watched Janet read another menu,
we finally settled in as Greg and Larry
and Erin
who got this retake
and Janet and Greg
checked out this menu
which looked better sans flash
and we decided which pizzas to order
while I observed the scene across the street
before our Doc Margharita came
along with Erin's pepperoni pizza
and Greg calzone
so that I could dig in and eat my slice
before getting these collection signs from the bathroom.
After Janet passed out our dessert,
we walked through the neighborhood
and past this fruit stand in Chinatown
to this clever sign
with a car driven by someone who could read neither Chinese or English
and these misplaced advertising signs
and on to a park to which people bring their birds
even as the men play a board game we could not understand
but the park was very pleasant and so Erin, Greg and Janet sat and enjoyed the views
as they watched Larry try to make cell phone calls
which seemed to amuse them
as Larry
used one phone to get numbers
and another phone to call
as the board game continued
and a new bird was showcased (it seems only 1 bird can be uncovered at a time) and we decided it was time to walk away.
Erin and Janet left us on the way north
and then we passed a school that uses a lot of milk cartons
before I said good bye to Greg and Larry at Penn Station
and got on the train where I met Lizzie Presser and Camila Chateau
