Thursday had been so much fun we decided to come back on Sunday and meet Ben's Zayin class on their tour of the Lower East side. We began by parking the car at the train station.
Once off the train, we met Jane
and headed for the F train.
Once off the F train, we say a Duane Reade, but probably not the original
and Gertel's, Bakers of Reputation
before we came across Audrey on a street corner
and went past the Talis sale
and Blumenthals who sell Bar Mitzvah sets
before coming to the building of the Jewish Daily Forward
at the F train stop (after the one we used)
where Ben and his class were.
We decided not to take the taxi
but did leave them to find Sarah and Ed
and then roamed until we could see Guss' pickles int he distance
and then we were there
and so we got into the line
and admired the barrels
and the signs
not to mention the hors radish in preparation
and the signs about Guss'
and the barrel warning
as we read the history of pickles in New York
and then looked down on olives
and pickled tomatoes
all to dished out by the proprietress
before we took our pickles and wandered to NexCom where we could get multi-lingual internet
as I admired my bag that Ben made
and the group
made its way into Katz's
where this sandwich arrived
while the others
were gathering this sandwich with the pickles
as Suzanne
and Ben
had their lemon ice tea
and I had my diet Snapple
before we took the Harry met Sally picture
and headed on to the subway
where we eventually got seats on the train so that I could take this self portrait
as Suzanne and Jane watched the stops go by
which amused Ben who had had the longest day in the city.
