This was to be the day when we left Mpala and headed to Masai Mara for the safari camp that would be the last stop in our travels. J. C. was up on the roof of Dan's Land Rover making sure that all of our suitcases survived the ride to Nanyucki to catch our flight south. The flight down was complicated because we were the fourth stop which meant that we had a lot of takeoffs and landings but for most of the way, the skies were quite cloudy so our pictures don't show much.

until we got off the plane at Siana Springs and headed to our safari camp stopping to see giraffes along the way

before we were shown our remarkable accommodations with bathroom and shower and this nice big bed given a big lunch which led to a siesta before we gathered for tea and then an afternoon game drive which began with an ostrich and giraffes followed by gazelles and a view of elephant dung (but we never found the elephant) and then a topi

and another

as we made our way through a roadless area past the whistling acacia and the fruit that the elephants like (even though it is very bitter) and stopping so that Jane could pick up and try on this gazelle's horn as we passed a monkey and captured the scenery with this bird and the mighty vulture atop the tree

who ultimately led us to the 2 lionesses with their 2 cubs

which gave us another of the big 5. On the way back to camp, we stopped to take many pictures of the 5 ostriches on the hill whose movements amazed and amused us.

and then saw these 2 topis and a jackal and his mate before heading back to dinner which began with a flashless picture led to a good first course for Ben and me served on this lovely placemat and then Ben had duck as his main course and I had vegetables and rice and a couscous like dish before the dessert place was decorated with a message welcoming us
