The next day, Saturday, we were up bright and early for the trip to Santorini. Once we had landed, we made our way in the bus from the airport to the Nomikos family house where we were staying and saw these scenes of life on the island
before getting to their home where Peter was nice enough to take the kids to the top of the castle
while we walked on the deck enjoying many views
including the swimming pool
before the kids moved to the top level of the castle
as I recorded the town below
and the ship out at sea
and wondered about the interplay between the town
the ship
and more generally the sea
as we looked towards Oia the town on the north end of the island
with the neighbors house in between
as Clayton and Margaret continued to enjoy the scenery
and Ben and Jane headed to the inside room
as Suzanne
and other members of our group posed against the backdrop
before we climbed to the top of the tower and looked down on the deck
and the town
and the path up from the harbor
as the kids spoke with Peter on the deck
after which I was shown to our room
|
before we walked to town to see the archaeological museum where Professor Doumas gave a wonderful tour. On the way back, we recorded the sea
the bust of Friedrich Hiller von Gaertringen
scenes of the town
and scenes along the path
before Sarah and Ben
Sarah, Ben and Jane
and Sarah, Ben, Jane and Peter (we made him an honorary member of our family) posed
and then Peter took a few pictures of our family.
After we walked on
we saw the beautiful shrubbery Peter (Sr.) had planted
after which I took some pictures of Shirley against this backdrop
and we waited for pictures of the sunset. Waited too long, some would say but here is what we saw
and here are Sarah, Jane and Ben toasting it

before Mary joined them
and these were the artistic pictures of people in our group
against the nightfall
as Sarah
and I posed
before the collection of pictures that can barely be seen
|
and a few family portraits
set off from the dark pictures
a few of Jane
including the dark one
and then increasingly lit pictures of Jane
|
then Ben
Mary and I talking
Sarah and Jane
and the diving board
and some artistic compositions
|
by Jane
before the artwork gave way to the evening and we declared it a beautiful day in a beautiful place.
