It was time for a faculty lunch but I want to make sure that the camera was warm, so I took a picture of my coffee table and of the paintings on my way before capturing Cathi Allison, our newest employee, and hosting lunch for Devah Pager (Sociology), William Jordan (History), Tom Palfrey (Economics and Politics), Richard Register (Chemical Engineering), Barbara White (Music), Virginia Kwan (Psychology), and Saeed Travazoie (Molecular Biology and LSIIG) On Thursday, Fred Dryer (Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering) Francois Rigolot (French and Italian) and Joel Cooper (Psychology) came to visit. It was a snowy Friday when I headed to New York for the Sloan committee meeting. We spread our work out and then I got a picture of Hector pointing to the winners and we got pictures of Hector, me and Jeanette Wing before Hector took pictures of Erica Stella with me and Jeanette and I went off to check out the hotel room that had a bed with no spare space a center space to use your laptop a long hallway and a bathroom which I left to take the subway downtown and find Suzanne on the opposite corner. after taking the obligatory pictures of shoe stores we walked past Devashan and headed to Amuse where we going to have dinner that started with drinks and focaccia followed by appetizers and then Suzanne's fish and my pasta which set us up for the walk uptown. We knew we were at Lord and Taylor when we saw the lights on the building and the Xmas tree but we really admired the windows done for the holidays in nursery tale themes starting with the princess and the pea and then Rumplestiltskin and Goldilocks and the Three Bears and Jack and the Beanstalk before the Arabian nights and Cinderella made us aware of the time at Nat Sherman's cigar store as we made our way north to the facade at Saks and the Saks windows

that were not as good. Next stop was Rockefeller center where we saw the tree and Suzanne posed before we passed the tree and the skaters and decided to stop in this folk art store before calling it a night. On Saturday, we woke up and saw the Carnegie Deli in the distance, we entered and Suzanne was amused by our neighbors who were taking pictures as our drinks arrived and then I explored the menu to find this omelet (with cholesterol free fries) and bagel which I dressed as Suzanne's lox arrived and as we departed, I took a blurry and then a clear picture of these ads for the play Jewtopia which set us in a good frame of mind to visit MoMA where we first encountered this large picture by Miro and these 2 before seeing the sculpture of the family that was a bit eerie

and heading into the gallery where we saw a lot and then saw posters describing things before admiring this person's facial parts and the array of lights that made interesting art that can be described only in blurry terms. Next we saw Rothko and some creativity before heading tot eh art of design where we saw these pieces and then looked out at the street below before admiring the subway sign the smart car and the train station board all of which prepared us for the next gallery

before we entered the exhibit on the art of safety and admired the signs telling us to turn off tv and computers and beware of tsunamis.

Finally we went to the gallery of the museum's permanent collection

before catching the view below en route to this picture and then the view some Rothkos and more modern art this painting of the states by Pollack and this green texture before we listened to an art historian tell us why Pollock painted this picture of the flag and after seeing a few final paintings we decided to call it a day and catch the train back to Princeton.
