On Tuesday, November 9, I had a faculty lunch with Left to Right: Anne Case (Economics and Woodrow Wilson School), Amy Borovoy (East Asian Studies), Catherine Peters (Civil and Environmental Engineering), Alexander Nehamas (Philosophy and Comparative Literature), Robert Vanderbei (Operations Research and Financial Engineering) and Guy Nordenson (Architecture). Later that week, I went out for scotch with Stuart Schwartz and then on Tuesday November 16, it was lunch again with Left to Right: Gabriela Nouzeilles (Spanish and Portugeese), Samuel Wang (Molecular Biology), Martin Semmelhack (Chemistry), Olga Hasty (Slavic Languages and Literatures), Claire Gmachl (Electrical Engineering) and Sheldon Garon (History) as a prelude to lunch on Thursday November 18 with the old gang from lunches at Bellcore 10 years ago Ken Steiglitz (Computer Science), Mike Honig (visiting Electrical Engineering) and Steve North *86.

All of this left me prepared for my trip to NYC on Friday November 19 for a meeting at the Sloan Foundation. After the meeting, I met Suzanne and we walked until time was running out and then caught a subway to the FCiA where this collection sign prepared us for our meeting with Michael D. Murphy who told us about his website http://www.michaeldmurphy.com/ , served us well and encouraged us to enjoy the meal. The table was set to enjoy the bread and my soup as Suzanne had a nice appetizer before her lamb and my veggie dinner in darkness and in light appeared to be followed by salads and the scene of glasses on the table because Michael gave us a choice of wines. Suzanne's tiramisu and my creme brulee complemented the dinner as I took a picture of our neighbors and Michael took this picture of us before we began the trek back to our hotel.

Along the way, we passed shoe stores and fresh fruit and these cosmetics before coming across more shoes and dresses with inspirational thought as we discovered more show stores in the village

before finding this hand that might be used to hit this punching bag even as we discovered that the movie theater was sold out so that we couldn't see Sideways.

Marching on past shoes and Anthropolgie and more shoes we finally gave to the windows at Lord and Taylor with explanation of Boston life in view and life on the Mississippi and these scenes of the Rockies and these of Nebraska and finally these from the Big Apple itself before one last window bade our farewell to Lord and Taylor and we marched into Rockefeller Center where these people were taking a picture before the skaters and carriages and this star with its story that would eventually go on top of the tree. We went past the NYFD store and caught a picture of Radio City Music Hall before going back to the hotel for the night.

Next morning, we woke up with tired feet and went to a slowly served breakfast where Suzanne and I had plenty of time to look at her coffee and take artistic shots with the water and milk before my syrup and her eggs and my pancakes came.

After breakfast, we made the requisite stop at Krispy Kreme to sample their wares before getting on the train and taking these signs that gave the rules.
