It was Shabbat and Hannukah so we put out the nuts got the challah peeled the potatoes (once more with no flash) got out the apple sauce and broccoli and paid tribute to Josephine for her fruit and vegetable salads as Suzanne pondered what was next and Jane and Kevin worked on the never ending project as Benjamin and Nate looked at the project but decided that Back Yard Baseball was a better choice. Kevin was nice enough to call Fred about car pooling which made Suzanne happy enough to endure the melodic accompaniment while worrying that the car pool would be late.

When we got back from the journey, Robert was teaching the fine points of potatoes to the crowd

assembled in the kitchen who felt it was their solemn responsibility to always look away from the camera. The clementines started to fix this but the door interceded as Sarah said good bye and we went back to kitchen pictures that missed the point even as the mixture got ready to be cooked to everyone's amusement. There was cooking which led to latkes as the oil boiled. Then there was a guest cooker and flipper as Sarah showed the magazine she had gotten from the Jewish Center and the penny histogram was reassembled as the first latkes left the room and the finished products grew even as more were cooking in the good pan and burning in the other though the oil presented a pretty picture that would have kept the Macabees in oil for many weeks.

We did the lighting of the Hannukah candles

and then Suzanne stepped forward to light the Shabbat candles after which we could eat so I made this plate and Benjamin made this one and we ate. These were the views before I cleaned my plate for fork pictures and Jane came home to look around the table and then we were back to Jane and the long shot across the table as dessert appeared and was eaten. The conversation was animated as RA and mother watched and Sarah and Laura kept things going until it was decided that Ed should juggle but first we had to get Jane, Ben and Kaylen off the computers to watch and this is what they saw

and then it was back to conversation

and closeup photos and the ever popular knife pictures taken in my napkin. After a little more conversation I focused on Sarah then the others then the adults then said good bye to Sarah and Laura as everyone got ready to go.

Happy Hannukah to all!!
