We wanted to get together to celebrate Sarah's graduation and Josh's
graduation but there always seemed to be an obstacle. Now, Sarah
was just back from South Carolina and Josh was getting ready to
go north to Alaska. So, we drove off but went slightly too far and
so had to turn around but we got to do so in the parking
lot of this place
we've wanted to capture for a long time. At dinner, Sarah
Suzanne G.
Suzanne W.
Josh
Michael
and David
had a pleasant chat with the waitress
about the dessert
and cappuccino
when the owner came by
and then was joined by his wife
and they took these pictures of our distinguished group
after which I captured the bathroom signage
and was unable to get a picture of the sub shop
across the street.
Early the next morning, we got gas
and then drove the Thruway until we paid our toll
and through a wrong turn found the sculpture garden
by going 10 miles out of our way; but eventually we got to Williamstown
and Jane and Suzanne led the way
to the restaurant opposite Lickety Split
which was decorated by these animals
on a beautiful summer day.
The bathroom across the street (but don't make a mistake and open
the door to the doctor's office by mistake) had this ice
cream story
this playbill
and this sign for the collection
of such signs. Unfortunately, they wouldn't let us bring the
menu home
for that collection.
Jane didn't make the clean plate club
which she may regret after eating around the campfire for 2 weeks. We
took a picture of the post office
and the obligatory phone booth picture
even though it was sponsored by Verizon, the evil empire.
Next, we went to drop Jane off at camp. Her group leaders
seemed very nice and eventually the Hagadorn's arrived
as Jane finished packing her panniers
and then posed with Kaylen
after which Kaylen did her tough pose ( wording suggested by Kaylen )
and Jane did her dance pose?
after which there were family pictures
and then we departed as soon as we could get Adele and Suzanne
to finish their conversation.
Next we went to the Clark Museum
and silver collection and after a rest at our hotel, headed to the
restaurant (From Ketchup to Caviar)
where my main course was well presented
but the Epsteins and their friends
couldn't believe I would take it's picture (and theirs). Not to mention
Suzanne's main course
and the waiter
who is about to start Boston College.
The next day, we took the view from our Inn
and the entry to the Inn
and then went to Tanglewood
for the obligatory phone booth picture
and a second obligatory picture
with Suzanne in it before we headed to Lenox and saw the town hall
but chose a different mailbox
for Suzanne to mail
our letters.
Next stop was Stockbridge where we saw Alice's Restaurant
where they were selling the T shirts
that tell the story. Our final Massachusetts stop was Great Barrington
where we got this neon sign.
of the no longer Hotpoint store.
Finally, we stopped at FDR's house in Hyde Park where the
National Park people
collected our fee and then we saw this statue
that was cut from the Berlin Wall. Next we got to the house
in this setting
and took the tour. The back of the house
was also impressive. We saw this bird
because FDR was not there to collect it. One of the horses in the stable
was right out of Guys and Dolls. After paying final respects
we noted this sign
on the way to his library.
