Suzanne and I decided that we should take a trip somewhere. We could never figure out a place to go. Finally, we decided on a time to go and then I decided on the place but wouldn't tell her. She was getting the mail when the car came to take us to the airport

Next thing we knew it was the next day and we were at the Musee Orsay looking at this sculpture when Suzanne discovered Virgil and I discovered the working man and the 2 men chatting After another sculpture and a few paintings we went upstairs where the views were remarkable and they had Whistler's Mother but we could hardly stay awake over lunch and so we took one last picture and the obligatory phone booth picture and found our hotel bed The bed was in a great room with a bathroom that was very beautiful even if the shower didn't work.

We put down our banana and after a nap, we walked off to Saint Germain where there was a wedding in progress. We admired the fountain and the traffic and then headed further to Notre Dame and past the Hotel De Ville to the subway to the restaurant, Le Repaire de Cartouche. Before going in, we took the obligatory phone booth picture My vegetable plate was great. Suzanne's seafood was even better The wine was good The menu was full of good things and Suzanne seemed amused as I checked out the facilities and we left the restaurant by the other door and caught a subway in the rain changing here for the trip home.

The next day was Sunday. I took a picture of a smart car from our hotel room as Suzanne slept. Then we both saw a smart car and a poster for Recess School's Out which hadn't opened there yet. We saw this statue/sculpture and this typical Paris street scene before passing the Cafe de Flore for breakfast at Le Deux Maggots where this was not our waiter. My rolls and coffee were good as was Suzanne's coffee. We made sculptures as the pigeons ate the remains of our neighbors meal. Suzanne watched and I read the bill at this historic street.

For a moment, we thought we were seeing Nicole's last meal.

After breakfast, we walked over to Notre Dame where the line was long and you had to cover shoulders and turn off cel phones before entering There was a mass going which limited photography but we did get to see the holy water and the confession setup

in all the languages. The path to the tower was unfortunately closed. But, we did get a chance to notice the architecture including the flying buttresses and the towers

We noted the painters along the Seine as we passed the statue and got exact change so that we could enter Sainte Chappelle where the first floor had remarkable architecture The floor above had stained glass a Rose window a fabulous floor and even more stained glass. We went past the ``Liberte, Eqalite, Fraternite'' building Palais de Justice on the way to the Conciergerie where the architecture was even more impressive and we saw the replica of Marie Antoinette and the description of the guillotine blade and Saint-Just was there. We took the obligatory phone booth picture and then headed off. It started to rain when we got to the Pompidou Center, so we stopped there. Once we got to the roof, there were great views of the Eiffel Tower Sacre Couer the plaza below Notre Dame, and the fountain. Inside we liked the rhino and chess set. Back on the plaza, this man was making music but we had no MP3 recorder. The Pompidou itself is a great structure and we enjoyed the special exhibit on Hitchcock. I went to this crepe stand while Suzanne watched and the large tulip waited and got this chocolate crepe On the way back, we passed this candy store decorated in numerous colors. We took the boat ride and they told us we had to take this picture before Suzanne fell asleep. We went to mile zero and back to the hotel for a rest.

That evening, on the way to dinner, we passed a French recycling for bottles the statue of Dreyfuss and then we were at restaurant La Dome where the plates were pretty and Suzanne was happy. Suzanne had the tuna appetizer I had the vegetarian main course and she had the fish main course with white wine Then the dessert menu came and we split a serious death by chocolate and creme brulee (that had pineapple and coconut in it) This was the guy at the next table this was our waiter and this was the bill.

The next day, the banana was still there. We walked beyond this woman and her kids with McDonald's logos on the back of their hats to views of Eiffel Tower bridge across the Seine Les Invalides where we took a picture of Suzanne with the cannon and David with the guard. After a look at Napoleon's tomb we went to the Arpege restaurant where they were cleaning the sidewalk and he was getting ready to mop it. The Rodin museum across the street was closed so Suzanne went shopping for shoes. After the obligatory phone booth picture we were ready for the meal. We had this caviar and then noticed the decoration of (inedible) African cucumbers on our table. This was an egg shell filled with egg, cream and maple syrup. The bread was really quite good. This is the most expensive bottle of wine I've ever bought. The soup was gazpacho with pepper ice cream. Then came the couscous. Then, the tomatoes filled with vegetables I had ravioli filled with dates and tomatoes and Suzanne had mussel soup Then I had an artichoke and Suzanne has lobster After, canteloupe, mozzarella and great tasting green peppercorns we had a sweet and then a tomato with 16 tastes (you have to ask Suzanne what they were) with licorice ice cream. The strawberries were in Hibiscus sauce and then they brought another plate of sweets. (I think this was a mistake. I think different sweets were supposed to come. ) I took a picture of the owner's mother and the sugar while we drank our coffee. This was the head waiter who gave us his card and the bill We went back to the shoe store where where he fitted Suzanne's shoes

Next, we headed to the Eiffel Tower and took many views as David talked to Augustus himself Back near the hotel, we found Croque Monsieur and then had our rest.

We hardly needed dinner after that lunch, so we walked through the Luxemborg Gardens where the facility was closed. We sat and stared at the Rodins in front of the Palace. and recorded this statue before the whistle blew telling us it was time to leave. At the restaurant, they had this self cleaning toilet and I took the obligatory phone booth picture before we were seated at Balzar where the bread made Suzanne happy. I liked my salad Suzanne liked her smoked salmon and her red wine and my white wine were fine. Then came the salad which we enjoyed and the cheese. We left as members in good standing of the clean plate club. We paid our bill and on the way home, we took this picture for Jane's Armani collection.

The next day was Tuesday and the banana was still there. We went to see the zebra, the ostrich, the cats, the dog, and the ox at this woman's taxidermy shop. After Suzanne said good bye to the polar bear and David to the horse we went to see this man who sold us these shirts.

By now, Suzanne was desperate for this coffee at this place that made her instantly happy. We unwrapped our package and ate these pastries from this place before heading to lunch at the vegetarian place where Suzanne had an aperitif and I had white wine The bread was good Suzanne's salad was large My vegetable dish was weird and still we had another salad and a quiche to eat. This lady sold us chocolate that wasn't very good and we took another Armani picture in Bon Marche for Jane's collection.

After a rest, we headed out for our last dinner. We took the obligatory phone booth picture and a picture of the elephant statue before crossing this bridge to get this great view of the Orsay. These people blocked my first picture of the arch but we managed to capture the Ferris wheel as the skies darkened and we left the area. We passed the Statue of Joan of Arc and the metro stop at the Louvre en route to the royal palace where we got these 2 views of this sculpture. The balls were nice as were the scooter kids. We saw this sculpture and this one had words when you got close. After this sculpture and the fountain we headed on past the baby doll repair shop to www.why.fr where he sold us wonderful things. We passed a church with flying buttresses and Les Halles on the way to dinner. We also saw this beer hall this other church the Nord bank (that you Nordman) and the statue of the Republic. We went past this strange storefront and then could finally see the restaurant. And, then we were there. There was a ham hanging from the ceiling and the decor was country French We had this wine and this water This was Suzanne's salad and this was mine. The place looked quite nice My entree came as Mickey Mouse Suzanne's was great and I got copper kettles of good vegetables They even brought us mustard from Dijon The waiter was very nice. Desert was this tart with this cream and my cheese came with this butter and the bread. We had our coffee and paid the bill. They took a picture of the table and we took a picture with the owner We changed subway cars at Madeline and were home for the last night.

Next day, we decided to leave the banana and not bring it home. We took a few pictures in the hotel and then had breakfast there before heading to the airport where we followed the sign to go through the gate and catch the plane. The meal there wasn't as good. David's lunch was no surprise.

Here's how Paul and Judy interpreted the trip. The kids (Sarah and her gang) made us this cake to welcome us home
